Set in Golarion,

Takes Place in the man Wastes, Starting in Alkenstar City

The campign will take in Present day Golarion, some time After the War between Nex and Geb. Your characters will either be from Alkenstar City, or Nex. This will be mostly a Urban setting. This is my First PBP game, so I want to try and get a good Mix of Rp, Combat, Puzzzles etc.

Tention between Geb and Nex is Building again, Alkenstar being a neutral state between Geb and nex is feeling the pressure. Fightes Erupting in may of the local Bars between citizens from both Countrys, Large orders for weapons, ore, and other techolgies, and a severe lack of communitation between all three.

Looking for 5 players.

1st lvl
25 point buy
2 Traits. (no Rich parents, no heirloom Weapon, due to starting Gold.)
1000g starting G (Mundain Items only, no Masterwork Items to start, Potions are ok)
max HP 1st lvl, roll after wards, no rerolls.
No Evil Alignments

all Core Races, Although most of Alkenstar City is Humans/ dwarves.
all Core/ APG CLasses ***

***I hate to restrict Classes, but the City is located in the Mana- Wastes, Which is devoid of all Arcane Magic. However, the Wastes is inbetween Geb and Nex, Which are Highly Magical countries. The Campgain will not full take place in the wastes, and will hae time spend in Geb and Nex. If you want to play a bard, Wizard, Summoner, Sorcerer, or Witch, or Magus be warned, your magic will sometimes not work the way its expected, or Work at all... Also, if you want to play one of these classes, you cannot be from Alkenstar, must be from Nex.

Alchemist is fine to play, their magic abilities are all based in the alchemey, so the mana wastes don't effect them. Divine Magic works normally aswell.

FireArms are a big part of Alkenstar, so they will be allowed (based on teh rules from the 3.5 Golarion Campaign setting, with a little bit of House rules:

Good, quality working Firearms aren't Cheap, but they are readly avab.

You can get a Cheap, knock-off weapon for 1/4 of the Listed Cost, but the Mis-Fire Chance doubles, and the damage dice is lowered 1 size, and does not have the exploding Dice option).

Any feats that work for Crossbows, can be taken for firearms. The Fighter, and Ranger Cross-bow Architypes work for Firearms aswell

Fire arms:

All firearms deal Bludgeoning and Piercing dmg.
The blue is the cheap version.

Firearm Proficiency: The Exotic Weapon Proficiency
(firearms) feat grants proficiency with all the firearms listed
here. A non-proficient character who attacks with a firearm
does so at the standard –4 penalty on attack rolls, but also
suffers twice the normal chances for a misfire.

Exploding Dice: Whenever you deal damage with a firearm
and roll maximum on any damage die, reroll that die and
add that roll to the total as well. If you roll maximum on
rerolls, continue to reroll, adding to the damage each time.

Attacks of Opportunity: Attacking with a firearm provokes
attacks of opportunity.

Capacity: Works like Crossbows, and repeating Crossbows.

Damage: The round bullets of firearms deal bludgeoning
and piercing damage because they rely on kinetic force to
punch into their targets. A bullet that fails to penetrate
deeply can still damage its target, just from the force of
impact alone.

Blunderbuss
Cost: 1400g 350g
Dmg: 2d6 1d8
Crit x2
Range: 20 ft
Capacity: 1
Weight: 5lbs

Blunder Buss can be fired with 1 hand.
Small Creatures take a -2 to atk rolls
Mis-Fires on a natural 1-2 1-4
it deals 1 die smaller Dmg per range increment beyond the first, cannot be used for precision dmg (sneak atk, Favored enemy)

Blunderbuss: This weapon fires lead shot from its trumpetshaped
barrel, making it effective as a fowling weapon or as
a close-fighting personal defense weapon. While potentially
devastating up close, it becomes quickly ineffectual against
human-sized targets at a distance.

Musket
Cost: 1800g 450g
Dmg: 1d8 1d6
Crit: x3
Range: 90ft
Capacity: 1
Weight: 9

Takes 2 hands to use
mis-fire on 1-2 1-4)

Musket: This smooth-bore longarm fires large-caliber
bullets. What it lacks in accuracy it makes up for in high
damage potential.

Pistol
Cost:1400g 350g
dmg: 1d6 1d4
crit: x2
Range: 60ft
Capacity: 1
Weight: 4

can be fired 1 handed
misfire on 1 1-2

Pistol: The single-shot, rif led-bore pistol is relatively easy
to conceal. You gain a +2 bonus on Sleight of Hand checks
made to conceal a pistol.

Revolver
Cost: 2600g 650
Dmg: 1d6 1d4
Crit: x2
Range: 60ft
Capacity: 5 (like Repating Xbow)
Weight: 5

can be fired 1 handed
Mis-Fires on a natural 1-2 1-4

Revolver: The most advanced firearm available, a revolver
has up to five chambers that each hold a bullet and a wad of
guncotton. Cocking the hammer spins the chambers to align
the next bullet with the barrel. The complicated mechanism
of a revolver makes it misfire on a natural 1 or 2.

Rifle
Cost: 3000 750g
Dmg: 1d8 1d6
Crit: 19-20 X3
Range: 150 ft
Capacity: 1
Weight: 8

takes 2 hands
Small Creatures take a -2 to atk rolls
Misfire on 1 1-2

Rif le: Firing small-caliber rounds at high velocity from a
rif led barrel, a rif le makes for an excellent long-range weapon
and is favored by snipers.

Revolving Rifle
Cost: 4000 100g
Dmg: 2d4 1d6
Crit 19-20 x2
Range: 80ft
Capacity: 5 (like repeating xbow)
Weight:7

takes 2 hands
Mis-Fires on a natural 1-2 1-4

Top of the line Firearm, mixing the Revolver
and a rifle, favored for medium Range.

Scattergun
Cost: 2200 550g
Dmg: 3d6 2d6
Crist: x2
Range: 30
capacity: 2 (like repeating xbow)
Weight: 8

requires 2 hands
Small Creatures take a -2 to atk rolls
Mis-Fires on a natural 1-2 1-4

Traits

From alkenstar
being born and raised in Alkenstar, you are used to being around Firearms.
Pick one Firearm from the list, the selected firearm is now a Martial weapon for you,
only requiring the Martial weapon feat (Except revolving Rifle)

feats

Gunslinger
You are so skilled with firearms that you can fire one without
letting down your guard.
Prerequisites: Base attack bonus +4, Weapon Focus (any
firearm), proficiency with any firearm.
Benefit: When you attack with a firearm, you do not
provoke attacks of opportunity.
Normal: Attacking with any kind of ranged weapon in a
threatened square provokes attacks of opportunity.

I've also not done a PBP before, would love to give this a shot. How much info do you need posted for apps? Just description/background or full stat block, etc.? Also, I assume you just want them posted here, yes?

Description/background for now, including race/class. Posting here is fine. I was expecting a bigger intrest in this honestly.

Low magic scares some folks.

I'm interested but was wondering what gun rules you will use

Tempted by a Half Elf Inquisitor or Urban Ranger with a rifle

Gun rules are in the spoiler. Its the ones from the campagin setting, with some homebrew stuff.

I'm surprised too, though agree with Bertious that low magic/firearms can be a bugaboo. Doesn't bug me, though. I'm playing an Eberron campaign and it all works out great.

I'm working up a human cleric of Abadar, Artificer/Charm domains, description shortly...

This is actually something i've been wanting to do for a while, Alkenstar is the City in Golarion that actually has Invented and produces Guns. I posted this up lastnight, and todays web fiction is set in alkenstar.. lol. I feel the gun rules are well balanced vs Longbows/CrossBows.

I would Like to add... there will be magic Items in the Game, I believe its the casting of Arcane Magic that does not work in the wastes.

I've got an Ex-Gladiator Barbarian concept floating around in my head. Maybe Exotic Weapon specialist. Would this fit in somewhere?

The only problem with those gun rules is they are not as good as pathfinder bow rules

For that money you can make a much better archer than gunman sadly

That besides the point i still like the idea and i'm playing around with my ideas some

I think that owuld be Fine, you've got the Mwangi Expanse to the west of the Mana wastes. I don't see the City of Alkenstar having a Gladator's Arena. They are a highly advanced city when it comes to tech. [url=http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Geb]Geb[url] However, is a LE country full of Undead. I could see you battling in an Arena there.

Perhaps the Cost of a qualify Firearm. could be dropped some. Bows are always better than the Crossbows, becuase they have a STR bonus you can add to them. But for a Charcter with no str, i think they would be fine. I'm also allowing any of the crossbow feats to work with the Firearms.

Okay, here's mine. Lemme know how I do! :-)

Taisper Stozs - LN Human Cleric of Abadar (Artifice/Charm domains)

Taisper's Background/Description:

Taisper Stozs loves his family very much. As a first-born son, he received great favor from his parents, and grew up feeling assured the world looked kindly on him. When he entered his teens and it became obvious he would be far handsomer than a look at his family would seem to indicate he had any business being, his father began to say wonderingly, joyously, that "my boy is touched by the gods, you just wait and see." As much as friends and neighbors would love to have refuted such an outrageous and prideful claim, Taisper soon began to display great talent at working with machines and fixing rends or breaks, and would offer his services, gratis, to the local shopkeepers in his neighborhood, fixing broken brooms and other small items, never asking for nor accepting a fee. When arguments arose in the home or on the street, young Taisper proved equally adept at repairing these rends in the fabric of the neighborhood as easily as a shopkeeper's torn apron; his winning smile and flaxen hair helped him charm most anyone. Those bullies who would not be taken in by Taisper's charm and wit taught Taisper how to be quick, for he was neither strong enough nor a skilled enough fighter to battle with these boys, and so he developed greater agility, his slim frame allowing him to dodge many blows. Those he couldn't dodge he accepted as a lesson from the gods for being too prideful, or insufficiently disciplined in his readings of the sacred texts of Abadar.

When his father, a foreman, was horribly injured in a factory accident the owner of the factory, a wealthy merchant and former cleric of Abadar, came to the house to make reparations, and upon meeting Taisper made it clear that he and his two brothers would be cared for until their father could work again. "After all," the factory owner had said with a peculiar gleam in his eye, "are we not a community, and therefore all family? The family is the constituent component of civilization, and civilization is what makes humanity great. So Abadar teaches us, and so we spread his faith, and by doing so increase our own greatness, and the greatness of the world through the reach of civilization." At the time, Taisper thought this the most divine wisdom he had ever heard. After the factory owner had a quiet conversation with his mother, she asked Taisper what he thought of the former cleric. Taisper, his eyes still wide with divine revelation (at least as divine a revelation as a 14-year-old can have), said he thought the man was very wise, and noble, and wealthy. His mother smiled, perhaps a little sadly, and asked Taisper if he would wish to be like that man someday. Taisper had looked at her then, in astonishment, and said he would like that very much.

So it was that not a week later Taisper entered the Citadel of Abadar in Alkenstar city, welcomed with open arms by the clerics there; they said they were expecting him. Under their tutelage his divine connection flourished and -- still moved by the kind actions of the factory owner towards his family -- his faith in the powers of family, community, civilization and law grew to be unshakable. Pious but never zealous, faithful but not evangelical, Taisper would much rather work with a group and lead by example than attempt to bowl people over with words.

Now, at age 22, he has passed the exams and been named a full cleric of Abadar. His boyish good looks have grown into those of a handsome, golden-haired man, and his big smile can still disarm many a would-be aggressor. Never the smartest or strongest fellow, Taisper lets his natural talents for divine magic and his deep, heartfelt faith guide him in life and thus far they have not let him down. Now as he prepares to go forth and spread the faith of Abadar, he feels certain, deep in his very soul, that they never will.

Always tuned in to the community, Taisper has heard of the increasing tension between Geb and Nex, and hopes for a chance to speak to citizens of these cities, to show them how much greater the value of commerce and cooperation than war and strife, but he is very young, and doubts the deputation from the citadel would include one such as himself.

Still, he is hopeful.

Edited to fix a couple typos.

I would suggest upping the stats a bit even a poor quality rifle should be matching an average quality crossbow ect. and perhaps a regional trait making guns martial rather than exotic.

However in the end the flavor trumps the mechanics :)

I present
Corban
A human urban ranger whos is gruff and unyielding in his manor somewhat based on a Clint Eastwood style drifter/ pinkertons agent from the wild west i'll make a alias for him and stat him up and make a better background.

I did make a Trait allowing one gun to be martial, I felt having them all be martial would be a bit op. Perhaps not. Update the trait to allow all guns with the trait be Martial if from Alkenstar

So: updating the Gun Rules.

The Low Qualify Guns now have the Same Dmg dice, and use the Exploding Dice rules. But still have the higher mis-fire rate. Cut the Cost of all the Quality Firearms listed above in Half. the cheap versions remain the same cost.

Here's Belzakk. Originally from the Land of the Linhorm Kings, somehow ended up as a Gladiator in Geb. I'll finish, and work up background later, if in the game.

Corban Reporting for duty i'll post full game stats soon for him

And here's Taisper for roll call. I'll put up his full build tonight. Would you like me to post a PDF of his full character sheet to Flickr? I have a Flickr Pro account already so it's no sweat...

Either way, In profile, or on flickr is fine.

Is masterwork equiptment like backpacks and thieves tools ok?

Yes, just not masterwork Weapons.

I'm Extending the Character Creation to monday: to allow for some more people.

So far we have :
Taisper Stozs - LN Human Cleric of Abadar
Corban tain - ALN human Urban Ranger
Belzakk - N Human Savage Barbarian

need at least 1 more, perfer 2, would take 3.

Another for roll call.

An Alkenstar-Loyal (they're paying) Half-Elf Fighter (Crossbowman)

Editing profile to requirements.

Halfling Rogue here doing his best to survive ...

Stats are up i hope they are ok :)

I called the gun trait Alkenstar Gunman and assumed its still 1 gun only as martial (seems more balanced that way)

Edit: btw i signed up to Flickr with the sign in bertious how do i go about finding you :)

Looking at playing a young Dwarven locksmith (rogue) who has a bit too much interest in opening locks, and not enough in making them.

I would like to join, please.

An Alkenstar-loyal human fighter.

Ah, posted just a little too late. Anyway, more info on my character concept:

Arthur, a former mercenary, joined the armed forces of Alkenstar and became a citizen when it seemed that his past was catching up to him in the larger countries of Nex and its neighbors. Growing fond of the security of a non-mercenary life, Arthur proved himself have natural talent with firearms. After losing his temper on a mission in Geb's territory, however, he was demoted and now makes his living much as he did before entering Alkenstar, but doesn't dare leave the country. However, he still remains a loyal citizen, if not completely law-abiding.

And that just teaches me to read the fine print... I don't have access to Flickr. So my previous posts may be disregarded.

Got a bit more of the character updated.

The skinny is this: someone has to make locks to keep all the dwarven treasure safe, right? Well that dwarf would be Isiron Truelock, master locksmith and trapmaker. Isiron's apprentice is something of a failure in the locksmithing business though. Dolum tends to find the opening of a lock, the avoidance of traps and the defeat of mechanisms to be far more interesting than the actual creation of said mechanics. To be honest, Dolum has always had an unhealthy interest in opening locks, the dwarven elders had just hoped that that interest could be channeled to better purpose. Isiron has decided to release Dolum from his apprenticeship for the period of 10 years so he can better determine what his path in life is going to be. Isiron also hopes that some time away from Dongun Hold will shake the shake the young dwarf up and when he returns, he hopes he will be ready to be a responsible member of the clan.

Dolum thinks this is the greatest idea since polished gold. He longs to find more impressive locks, mechanisms and traps, and defeat them. He is being dutiful in his search however. He is annotating any interesting mechanisms in a journal, thus recording his conquests, but also taking the most interesting ideas back to Isiron when his 10 years are complete.

If you have any room left, I would like to drop in. Let me know if there is space and I will work something up. I am open to playing just about any concept though, so if there is something you would like to see someone play, I'm all for it (I like the role-playing more than the character generating to be totally honest...)

I haven't picked anyone yet, So if you are intrested in playing, submit a Character Concept, stats arent needed right away.

So far we have ideas for:

Taisper Stozs - LN Human Cleric of Abadar
Corban tain - ALN human Urban Ranger
Belzakk - N Human Savage Barbarian
Halsanna Firdraes - NG Half-Elf Fighter (Crossbowman)
Clifford Strauss - N Halfing Rogue
Dolum Breaker - LN Dwarven Rogue
Fatty - Some kind of fighter?

I'd Like to see an Alchemist in the group, if anyone was intrested in playing one.

I apply for the alchemist slot-background blueprint already in profile.

The Alchemist isn't a auto-pick slot, Still picking based on background/ How they Fit into the area.

I was just kidding, didn't think this was an auto pick.

I am going to with a character whose goal is to become the greatest swordsman in a city full of guns. He has nothing against guns, he chooses blade over bullet.

I hope this isn't too contrary to your game.

My characters name will be Aaron Darkwater, his family are not native to Alkenstar, however he was born in the city. His father is a blacksmith and prior to that he was a soldier, his mother keeps the home and brought up his 2 elder brothers, 2 elder sisters and him. The youngest of 5 Aaron was spoilt frequently by his siblings and parents.

Now at the age of 18 Aaron has begun to focus even more on his swordsmanship a hobby he developed as a child watching his father craft and train with swords, it was only a matter of time before one of his sons picked up the blade. His elder brothers after their apprenticeships with their father moved onto work in the Gunworks, however Aaron decide the way of the sword was for him, forgoing anything else Aaron is focused on creating the perfect blade and continues to work with his father in the city, once the work day is complete Aaron will don his armour, pick up his sword and begin to train.

Aaron is not sure why his family moved Alkenstar and his father refuses to speak about, however praying to the gods is not something that happens in the Darkwater household and the children have been taught to rely on the strength of their arms and own belief in themselves.

Description: Aaron stand a shade of 6 foot tall, he has a muscular build from years of hammering away at the anvil, his hair is black and his eyes are brown in colour, those who can tell know he is of the Kelish origin.

Personality: Aaron can be stubborn at times but has a good nature, always walking down the middle road his only true goal is to become the perfect blademaster.

Will post character soon

Have a halfling ranger (skirmisher from apg) and a gnome cavalier that is based on a Prussian Hussar. I will do a write up on both for both anf get access to Flikr tonight or tomorrow.

Noticed that there were a great deal of gunners and thought I would switch to a monk for skills and scouting. Are we using a 15 or 20 point build?

I withdraw my appliance. GL for the rest.

25 point buy, actually.

Being able to see flickr is just so you can see the maps/pics.

Sorry,I should have read the first post all the way through in the first place, lol. Will begin work on a submission today.

I'd consider switching to an alchemist if we don't get one :) with this many fighters and rogues extra buffs may be needed

Human Monk
Monk of the Sacred Mountain

Guns, swords, and axes. These are all fine tools for the average person, but when you are a giant among men they begin to lose their luster as the ease with which they bring about another's demise is far to simple. Standing 7'2'' and weighing 320 pounds results in armor not fitting such a massive frame and weapons being far to small. Yet, this matters little when your fist are like boulders, legs are like ancient oaks, and skin of iron. Born to parents faithful to the god Irori they took their son's immense physical attributes as a boon of their faith. As a sign of their utter awe to have been chosen as the bearers of such an important being it would have been an afront to such fortunes as these to attempt raising Adon on their own.
It was on his 5th birthday Adon was brought to Irori's monestary to be raised and educated. As the years progressed it became obvious Adon was not given the divine gift of holy magic, but was instead the human embodiment of strength and knowledge. This discovery was much to the delight of head monk, Tetsu Yoshitsune. Adon quickly took to the teachings of Yoshitsune rapidly outpacing even the senior monks in raw power. On his 25th birthday Adon was brought before his mentor and instructed he was venture to the city of Alkenstar to gain knowledge of the technologies present there and document them for libraries of Irori to preserve.
(I have built Adon as a size L character as it seemed to jive the best with the Irori and Sacred Mountain design paths. In addition, I think it will assist in evening out an unarmed character in the gun dominated principality of Alkenstar.)
