With Psionics Unleashed finished and about to be released, we have started work on Psionics Expanded, a supplement of advanced psionic options. This new supplement will be released as a series of small PDFs, currently expected as six separate releases, and then released as a final compilation.
Due to the success of the open playtest for Psionics Unleashed, we're doing the same for Psionics Expanded. The new Chirurgeon base class is already available for Alpha testing, and we expect to have a variety of new soulknife blade skills available for playtesting later this week.
Psionics Expanded will have several new base classes. In addition to the chirurgeon, we expect to have a tactician-oriented manifester, an upgraded version of the marksman, a stealthy class, a new melee class, and a class that fuses with constructs.
For our existing four base classes, we are planning a host of new blade skills, new psychic warrior paths, new wilder surge options, possibly hybrid or advanced psion options, psionic traits, new psionic feats, new psionic powers, new psionic items, and much more.
I'll keep this thread updated as new Alpha documents become available.

Just a couple quick updates:
A variety of new soulknife blade skills have been posted for Alpha playtesting. You can view them here.
In addition, the Alpha for the Chirurgeon base class has had some important changes made to it based upon feedback and testing:
First, add 1 power known, beginning at 1st level. This means the progression goes: 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, etc. This gives the added bonus that they always get a new power known at a new power level.
Second, each Method will get 1 bonus power known. This will be a static 1st level power bonus. For the Mender, that's Natural Healing. For the Guardian, that's Biofeedback. For the Soulthief, that's going to be a net new power that I'm still working on that will be a debuff. That power will be a Chirurgeon power, so the other two types can select it as a power known if they so desire, adding to the offensive repertoire of the chirurgeon.
Third, auras will now cost 1 pp / round as a free action.
Fourth, Collective Healing will be modified to note that it is only active as long as the chirurgeon is conscious.
Finally, at 9th and 18th level they get Expanded Knowledge as a bonus feat.
I'm strongly considering a change to Steal Health to make it powered by power points, due to abuse potential that has been mentioned several times. Here's what I see possibly happening to it:
Change Steal Health to taking 1 power point to activate. That puts it akin to the Aura in terms of resource expenditure.

FYI, expect to start seeing a flood of Alpha releases for Psionics Expanded.
Soon to be released:
New warrior path options
New wilder surges
New alternate class features - including psionic options for non-psionic classes
New psionic traits, psionic race favored class options, favored class options for non-psionic races
New base classes, including the marksman, the tactician, and the exemplar
New powers, feats, and items
New prestige classes
Later to be released:
New base classes, including a stealth-based manifester and a construct-wearing combatant
Possibly a 0-level talent system...
January's going to be busy - get ready for some psionic fun!

I just wanted to take a moment and say I think it is very, very cool you do open playtests, and I hope you continue to see great success with your pathfinder psionic offerings!
Thanks!
We found the process amazingly productive, and it also helps gives fans a direct input into the finished book. From our perspective, that's a win-win.

Annnnnd, the Marksman base class is now in Alpha.
This is the only base class from 3.5 that will be officially updated in Psionics Expanded.
The worldthought medic and society mind are the inspiration for two of the other classes (chirurgeon and tactician, respectively), but they are not direct upgrades of them.
The other three base classes yet to be released (code names Juggernaut, Exemplar, and Adumbrate) are all new.

Why does Adumbrate seems like A-Dumb-Brute to me? =)

New Alpha documents up!
Survivor Psychic Warrior Path
Psionic Feats
Extra Blade Skill
Extra Power Known

Urizen wrote:Why does Adumbrate seems like A-Dumb-Brute to me? =)LOL...
Well, if you look up what Adumbrate means, I think it's a pretty good indicator as to what that class will be about. :)
I understand what it means, but aside from the humor I was poking at it, the main thing I'm not crazy about that word is that it doesn't necessarily roll off the tongue as an class occupation that would be said in casual (in character role playing) conversation where the other person knows what you are.
"Hey, I'm a fighter" "I'm a priest. What about you?" "Adumbrate." "Wha...?"

Let's see...
The Tactician base class is now posted for Alpha.
I'm losing track of what I have and haven't posted over here... so here's the Alpha Compilation Thread.

Jeremy Smith Dreamscarred Press |

I just posted up the Gifted Blade Archetype which gives the soulknife a manifesting option at the cost of psychic strike.

Jeremy Smith Dreamscarred Press |

Not to sound demanding, but with the announcement of the gunslinger class in ultimate combat, I was wondering if there are any plans to have a firearms style for the marksmen?
Also I'm super excited for the adumbrate. Psionic illusions? Yes please!
Yes, but not until we have official firearm rules for Pathfinder. :) We have some ideas for a gun style, but we didn't want to have to develop our own rules for it and then Paizo's rules come out and invalidate what we had, especially since we know Paizo's working on them.
So, if we finished Psionics Expanded before Ultimate Combat comes out, then we'll release it separately later. If Ultimate Combat comes out first, then we'll add it to the book. :)

Ultimate Combat, IIRC, is scheduled to debut at GenCon. That should help you to better decide accordingly.

Kryzbyn wrote:When is the juggernaut going to be available for review/playtest?The best answer I can give is soon. :)
We have the class skeleton, concept, and ideas for class abilities, but haven't finished the actual mechanics of those class abilities.
Lol need help?
Just kidding, I can't wait to see it!

Jeremy Smith Dreamscarred Press |

Some new powers posted for Alpha:
Tactician Powers
Circumstance Shield
Entangling Debris
Expose Weakness
Upheaval
We're hoping to have the full power list of the tactician posted this week.

Hrmm, you folks are treading on dangerous ground. Class bloat, power creep, resting on your laurels, getting to the punch, beating a dead horse and a host of other cliched comments.
I love Psionics Unleashed.
With the snake race I was able to trick a longtime friend and hater of psionics into playing a psion. He loved it. Nuff said'.
Now, though, you have a healer (which I highly approve of OMG is it a good idea), an archer (not a fan, should be a soulknife archetype instead IMHO), a second class to utilize collective/networked powers (roll it into chirugeon to create a more varied base class, again IMHO) and now you're about to tackle the juggernaut.
Hrmm,
Juggernaut could be a wilder archetype who gains rage or something similar to it. Maybe even trades psionic powers for unarmed combat abilities. All in all you should really consider just adding one class and some really bold archetypes. Bolder than what paizo did in the APG. Bold enough to really stand out and excite players, since the current mindset is to avoid more classes/prestige classes, but faun over archetypes.
You all did such a wonderful job with Unleashed, I'd hate to see you kill it so quickly. Godspeed.

I think they're doing a great job as is.
As long as each new class has relevance and fills a niche or is unique, then go for it. Class bloat is when classes show up for no apparent reason, then are unsupported. This isn't happening with Dreamscarred so far.
Can't wait for the juggernaut :P

Finally getting some more progress made on Psionics Expanded.
The Tactician power list has been revealed, as well as several new tactician powers. The Tactician class will be getting a fairly heavy revision in his class features, as well, but his manifesting ability remains unchanged.
Powers:
Ability as One
Prowess as One
Sense as One
Skills as One
Strike as One
Technique as One
Withstand as One

I just got my hardcopy of Psionics Unleashed. I already had the pdf but there is no substitute for having a dead tree in your hands. I wish I had the time to help with the play-tests because all of this looks amazing. Rest assured that I will buy it as soon as you can put it out.
BTW, I love what you did with the Soulknife. That "Gifted Blade" you referenced would it be able to, say, deliver psionic attacks with an attack would it? I know, I know...I could just read it but I'm up to my neck in homework right now and dodging a mobo that wants to die...

:) It's been fun developing it, even if it is taking longer than expected.

The Gifted Blade gives up Psychic Strike (permanently) for Manifesting ability roughly comparable to a ranger's or paladin's spellcasting.

Jeremy Smith Dreamscarred Press |

The Marksman is almost ready for Beta... but not quite.
But here are the for sure changes coming:
Class Skills: Added Autohypnosis
Bonus feats: Added clarification that Weapon Focus for a weapon of your chosen style could be selected, as well as GMs adding additional archery-related bonus feats.
Evade Arrows: Made the bonus 1 + half Wis mod (round down)
Bow Style: Renamed Archer style.
Style Technique: Moved to 2nd level.
Powers Known: Reduced total count to 12 from 15, mostly by reducing the high level power progression from 3 every 4 to 1 every 2 (i.e. powers are removed starting at 14th level).
Power Points Per Day: Changed progression to reflect the power point progression of the war mind, instead of the psionic fist (caps at 70 per day instead of 100).
Thrown Weapons: Added the sling.
Thrown Mantra: Now allows Dex instead of Str for melee, or Str instead of Dex for thrown.
Crossbow Weapons: Added great crossbow and repeating hand crossbow.
Augmented Shot: Reworded that using it is a standard action.
Augmented Shot: Changed the bonus damage to be one additional die of damage for each signature style based upon the weapon type. So Heavy Crossbow adds +1d10, while Hand Crossbow adds +1d4.
Through the Eye of the Needle: Clarified it works with Augmented Shot.

That sounds like so much fun. I was always disappointed that the Soulknife lost the ability to manifest when it became a full-blown 20 level class.

Here's some new Alpha material for the Marksman base class:

Jeremy Smith Dreamscarred Press |

How's the playtest going?
Any word on when we can see the juggernaut?
Going pretty good so far - lots of actual game feedback on the different classes. The tactician in particular is likely going to get some overhaul.
The Exemplar class is close to being ready - should be out this week. I'll have to see if Andreas has any further initial input on the Juggernaut - hopefully it will also be out this week or next week.
Once we get both of those classes out, we'll also begin preorders. I want to have at least 5 of the 6 new base classes in Alpha before starting preorders.

Very nice.
I'd like to take the time to also say how happy I am with Psionics Unleashed. Great work all around, fellas.I'll definately be getting the "expansion".

Jeremy Smith Dreamscarred Press |

I tried to post this yesterday, but had some internet issues...
The Exemplar Base Class is now in Alpha.
The Juggernaut looks like it should be out this week after Andreas and I had a developer brain storm session yesterday to finish out the remaining class features. Now it's just a matter of putting it all together.
We're also starting to put together our list of artwork we'll be needing so we can start getting those commissions going. :)

Looks cool. What's the fluff behind it?

Jeremy Smith Dreamscarred Press |

The Exemplar is basically a reimagining of the Halo Knight from 3.5 (whose name I was never a big fan of).
Additionally, the Juggernaut is finally in Alpha testing!

Love it so far!!
Looks pretty tough...I'll take a more serious look at it later when I'm not at work ;)

I'll admit that the Juggernaut borrows heavily from the Summoner.
The big difference is that in the Summoner paradigm, you have master and servant. (I've heard of folks roleplaying themselves as the eidolon and the summoner as an NPC... which is kind of cool, to be honest).
In the Juggernaut paradigm, you just have you.
I may have to add in a "Ram" customization - charge and bust through walls, anyone?
