Hi,
just discovered these from another thread (Shoulda checked my magic item section in APG earlier)
Part of the description for dueling gloves says a fighter treats his weapon training as +2 higher. Awesome.
Strictly RAW though, only Core Fighters, Two Handed Fighters and Weapon Masters could use this as other archetypes don't get 'weapon training'
Example an Archer gets Expert Archer
A Free Hand Fighter gets Singletion
A Two Weapon Warrior gets Twin Blades
They have a different name, but have the same effects as weapon training, at the same levels.
Would you say RAI that you could allow Dueling Gloves to work for them?

Gloves of duelling should apply to duelling weapons. It doesn't seem appropriate to use them with ranged weapons, except possibly pistols, but a variety of melee weapons were standard for duels in different times and places. I'd allow it for archetypes that focus on specific ways to use melee weapons, including the free hand fighter, polearm master, shielded fighter and two-weapon fighter.
edit: Mr. Alarm has a point, though, that it could be slightly unbalancing to apply a +2 bonus to abilities that were only intended to have one step of effect (trading the typical Weapon Training focused increase for other benefits at higher levels), such as Singleton.

Or you could take the viewpoint that, you know, they had to call them gloves of something and that's a bit of fluff and not something that has to inform a mechanical decision.

That means it works for all archetypes EXCEPT freehand fighters...

You could always create a magical version that magically changes name to archer gloves when it comes in the possession of an archer.

The description seems pretty straightforward to me. You must have the Weapons Training ability to utilize the gloves second power.
APG PDF Sez:
If the wearer has the weapon training class
feature and is using an appropriate weapon, his weapon training
bonus increases by +2.
You win some, you lose some I suppose...
However...
APG PDF Sez:
Construction:Requirements
Craft Wondrous Item, greater magic weapon;
Cost 7,500 gp
How tough would it be to ask your friendly neigborhood Enchanter to make a set *similar* but only worked in conjunction with, Singleton, or Expert Archer? I can't imagine the requirements would be much different in requirements, maybe add Cat's Grace but not any harder than that.
