pretty sure 18 is a miss. 10 + 4 mage armour + 2 deflection + 2 wisdom + 1 untyped + 1 natural -1 size equals 19 (monks keep the wis and untyped even when FF). Init is 23 due to enlarge which is still epic, that's the first number above 15 I think you've ever rolled for initiative.

Reacting swiftly, Sajan concentrates his focus on the foe that first attacked him, striking firmly with his brass knuckles.

I think there was mention of bless being cast, if so add +1 to there attack rolls. Posting from single tab s!!!ty phone browser so can't feasibly check while posting.

Yeah sorry. Tired and ran of your profile. Included the armour but forgot the extra plus 1 from shield of faith. A miss.

Sajan's first flurry of blows take the creature in the left squarely in the face, the sheer power of the monk's blows driving its head backward until it is touching its spine. It drops inanimate.

The monk spins on his heel and the creature on the right fares little better collapsing under the sudden barrage.

Khalid's impediment does not effect his aim. He manages a powerful cut to the creature's arm, half severing it. The undead thing releases its grip, falling back into its niche.

Nuveril's attack is no less potent. She pounds her attacker with alternating hits from hammer and madu, finishing it with a brutal blow to the centre of its chest.

Linah:

Noone else seems to notice but the second creature that Sajan felled and the creature struck by Khalid are not destroyed. Indeed they are not even completely immobile. Some dark magic is at work!

With the benefit of Sajan's warning the group is not surprised when moments later the creature on Sajan's right and the one Khalid felled shake of their 'death' and continue to fight.

Nevertheless that knowledge does not completely insulate the group from the magical fear that sweeps over them in the wake of the creatures trick.

DC 13 will save to avoid 2d4 rounds of panic. Will allow the warning to provide a +2 circumstance bonus. Linah can have +3 as she also made the requisite sense motive check.

Round 1, initiative 6
AC 21
hp 30/30

Linah follows down the corridor lighting the way with her glowing scimitar. Her dream about the temple keeps playing again and again in her mind, demanding attention. She is consumed by the urge to find Xulthos and put an end to her/his/it's wretched existance.

When the shadows jump from the alcoves Linah is unprepared. Everything happens to fast, and her voice is caught in her throat and she's unable to warn her companions about their adversaries. Luckily enough, Sajan keeps his calm enough to inform the rest on what to expect next.

When Linah regains control she has already started to glow. When the creatures sprung from the darkness her had already reached out to her goddess, to her light. A gentle wave of energy lights up the corridor and sears the what flesh is still attached to their attackers. She can feel a hand on her shoulder, calming her and guideing her onward.

Standard action to channel positive energy to harm the superzombies: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 5) + 4 = 10 (DC14 for half damage)

Edit: Removed the "if i fail the save"-part since Dan confirmed that Bless grants a +1 to the will save, so i would have made it regardless if we use Dan's roll or mine (although i like Dan's roll better:).

DM question: What kind of penalties would i take if i wanted to attack the coffer corpses with my shield (which i guess deals blunt damage)?

Am I missing a save by Linah? Can't see one. Theres one super-zombie left up. Assuming your still channeling.

Yet again today, Linah's channel punishes your foes. The remaining undead creature literally falls apart, its skin and bone turning to dust. If any of the other remains in range had any spark of undeath within them they do not now.

Using the shield in your main hand would be an attack as normal dealing bludgeoning damage unless it has spikes. Wielding it with the off-hand is a bit of a nighmare unless your speced for it, -6/-10 to hit.

The brief battle over, you move up to the left turn in the passage and take it. It continues for a short way until Grall can see it end in a large and elaborate stone door bearing a life-sized symbol of Sarenrae, or at least Her lower half. Where the symbol’s head should be is nothing but a blackened scorch mark. The door stands slightly ajar, no light comes from beyond.

It seems that you have reached the crypt's end.

Take any actions please and I will update the round record and we shall proceed.

Standing at the threshold of Xulthos's sanctum, Nuveril does not have the luxury of a long, centering ritual. Round -12

As prepared as you will ever be you begin moving into the room. Still walking on the roof, Zeladiel tosses his arrow into the room through the open door. Sorry for the overwrite I was driving myself crazy with darkvision and non-darkvision descriptions.

Sajan pushes on the door, revealing the room beyond. This large worked chamber is forty feet square and twenty feet high. Two rows of three marble columns flank the main walkway leading from east to west. A series of low, curved stairs at the opposite side of the room leads to a large concave recess in the western wall, with an elaborate throne perched at the top of the stairs.

Perched on the throne is a woman dressed in snowy white robes. She looks exactly like the great statue of Sarenrae outside, right down to the hairstyle, although no visage of the Dawnflower would ever bear such a cruel smile.

We meet at last. A pity our time together will be so short, at least for most of you. Ive felt your minds, this last few days.

I think you, the pet gnoll might be my favorite. So much anger. I had great fun with your friend. Tell me do you really think she is free of my touch? Or is she hiding back there in the dark with a knife. Ready to plunge into your back.

Or maybe the halfling! So very much to work with there. There were halflings here when I took this place. A few fought me but most were so enthusiastic by the end!

But enough conversation. Ive waited long enough for my freedom. AND NOW I SHALL HAVE IT!

Xulthos moves quickly, so very quickly, surging forward. As it does the humanoid veil drops away revealing its true form, that of an immense, flying, insect-like fiend. Its two front arms end in huge claws beside a multi-eyed face with slavering mandibles. At the back of a chitinous thorax protrudes a long serpentine tail.

Its wings are nearly transparent and it moves with an almost hypnotic grace, its wings droning and light reflecting off its carapace in a dazzling display.

It flies straight as an arrow toward Sajan, hovering about fifteen foot of the ground. As it comes close the droning becomes unbearable. The sound washes over you, assaulting your ears, assaulting your minds, threatening your very sanity.

The drone takes effect as part of Xulthos' movement. Everyone must make a DC 18 Will save or be confused as per the spell. Those who save take a –1 penalty on all attack rolls, skill checks, and saving throws.

Also the dazzling colors coming of its exoskeleton reflects light in a dazzling display, making it hard to watch for long. Opponents suffer a 10% miss chance to all attacks made against it and take a –1 penalty on attack rolls while looking at the creature. This stacks with the drone.

Will save is important and its getting very late here so I'm going to be nice/mean and let everyone make their own roll. If anyone hasn't by my next update I will take the remaining ones. Prot evil will provide a bonus to the save, bless will not. After that Xulthos will continue its action.

Xulthos is large size with ten feet of reach. Currently it is out of melee range for anyone but Grall and Sajan. Map is here.

No peeking please.

DC 18 Knowledge Planes:

Your not exactly sure what the creature is but it appears to be some kind of daemon. It is resistant or immune to elemental attacks. You know standard daemon traits including the fact it will be resistant to weapons other than good aligned and silver.

DC 23 Knowledge Planes:

The creature is a glomeray although it appears to be a particularly powerful version. Aside from the above the creature has a number of illusionary and mind-effecting spell like powers.

Its drone should have a relatively limited range. Those moving outside the effect should be free from it at least while they maintain distance.

Unlike more powerful daemons it does not have spell resistance.

DC 28 Knowledge Planes:

Drone has 50' range. Stopping it from using its wings might also cease the drone although that would be easier said than done (simply grappling it is unlikely to do so).

Thus Zeladiel has the confused condition. Everyone else has the made the saving throw penalties instead.

Its unclear whether the insectlike fiend has any way to gague the effect of its drone. It drops gracefully down to ground level, its wings still emitting the drone, and comes in hard and fast at Sajan, perhaps seeking to bottle you up in the passage. it continues its move east five feet -A,A,0,1

Or just against charm and compulsion effects where the caster is able to exercise control over the target, such as charm person, command, and dominate person (and thus not effects like sleep or confusion, as the caster does not have ongoing influence or puppet-like control of the target)?

The latter interpretation is correct: protection from evil only works on charm and compulsion effects where the caster is able to exercise control over the target, such as command, charm person, and dominate person; it doesn't work on sleep or confusion. (Sleep is a border case for this issue, but the designers feel that "this spell overrides your brain's sleep centers" is different enough than "this spell overrides your resistance to commands from others.")

24 hour rule, suspect Alex's internet is still stuffed.

Zeladiel is clearly suffering the ill-effect of the daemon's drone, unable to act.

Undaunted by the blood running down his leg, Sajan launches a furious assault on the fiend, pounding at it with fists and feet in rapid flurry of attacks. Xulthos however is clearly no novice to melee combat and the monk perhaps suffering from his wound is more clumsy than usual. Only a few of Sajan's blows find their mark and much of the damage is quickly healed. Lightning from the strike does not seem to effect the creature. Ki point used for extra attack.

Sorry guys no time to post this morning, update will be this evening gmt.

Khalid neatly slips under a swinging claw flanking Xulthos with Nuveril. He manages to pierce the creature’s carapace with a number of precise blows, their force enhanced by his judgement.

Linah's flaming scimitar attacks from the other side, the magical blade comes very close but is not quite able to deliver a telling blow. Xulthos does not seem to like the blade at all shrinking away from it. No de-buffs but don't think bless works either. In any case a narrow miss.

A heartbeat later, Grall cuts round the creature the other way, stepping right over Nuveril in a single enlarged stride. Leaning back from a swipe of the fiend’s long tail he lands a powerful blow to its rear, dislodging a plate with comes away with a burst of ichor.

Confused (Zeladiel)
Dazzling colours (-1 to hit, 10% miss)
Drone (-1 to hit, skills and saves)

For those adjacent to the fiend, the world has been replaced by a storm of teeth, claws and razor sharp edges. Xulthos whirls in place, held up by those droning wings and you struggle to keep it contained in its loose circle. Amidst the battle it appraises you all, dull black eyes alight with intelligence. You can feel it assessing your threat potential, reaching for a strategy to bring you to defeat.

In a surge it forces Grall back a few steps and then turns on Sajan, attacking the monk in a remorseless fury. Sajan takes another bite and then a raking hit from the left claw all the way down the right side that sends him bloodied to the ground.... -2 hp.

Chortling with glee, Xulthos turns again on Grall, clawing him in the shoulder and whipping its tail straight over its back to slice the gnoll across the neck.

Thats one, children. With a burst from its wings, it moves forward toward the fallen monk (and Linah and Zeladiel) ending five feet above the ground.

Bite vs Sajan 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30 hit
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5) + 6 = 12

Claw vs Sajan 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22 hit vs 21
1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Claw vs Grall 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30 hit
1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Tail vs Grall 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18 hit
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 6) + 6 = 14

Map is here. And no I so did not intentionally target the botted character

That would be round 2.

Wow, we're getting screwed here pretty quick. :P

"Healer-woman!" Nuveril bellows, as if Linah can't see for herself. "Sajan is down!" She has neither good nor silver weapons, but her hammer hurt the vermin last time; holding her madu solely defensively, she concentrates all her strength on a blow with her hammer.

Rage; 5-foot step to B 2; Hammer 1d20 + 10 + 1 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 1 - 2 + 2 = 27 (bless, drone, dazzling colors, flank) damage 1d6 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 2 = 10 miss chance 1d100 ⇒ 42 Darn it, it's DR 10, isn't it? See above comment about being screwed. AC 18

Khalid sees the massive monk fall, but knows there is little he can do about it. Maintaining his flanking position with Nuveril, he strikes at Xulthos again with Tempest...

Tempest:1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 7 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 = 25 (cat's grace, divine favor, flank, creature effects)

Miss Chance (01-10)?:1d100 ⇒ 55
