Khalid you may want to move before your ready action. I'll accept an adjustment any time before the demon acts.

Linah, Nuveril, Arjun are up.

Move to V-22

Her face white with more than fury, Nuveril growls in a low tone at the demon, "I know you. And I know you are a liar and a coward or you would not have just fled before me." Knowing that she has no way to reach his perch atop the wall, she spins to deal with the immediate threat. Facing the approaching gnolls with an anger all the hotter for not being able to reach the other enemy, she shrieks a furious war cry and wades into the fray. Rage round 1; Move to U15; Attack gnoll in U14 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12; Damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Round 3, initiative 18 Bless round 3/20

Linah unleashes a burst of healing energy to strenghten her allies, then moves to confront the arriving gnolls.

"Can you get that demon back to the ground, Sajan?", Linah calls out over her shoulder.

Standard action to channel positive energy (excluding the demon ofc): 1d6 ⇒ 2
Move action to W17

HP -12/64, AC 19/18/16 CMD 29, Speed 50 feet, F +8, R +8, W +11, P +12, In +4, AOO +12, EF 6/6, Ki 9/9

No. Sajan answers simply, grateful for the healing.

I can't make that jump on a 20.

Arjun:

Double-checking the bomb/splash rules and I see bombs have a 20' range increment rather than the 30' I was assuming from Arjun's throws.

Accordingly for Arjun I make it:

- throwing from 20' or less - +1 to hit from pbs, misses go one square
- throwing from 30' or less - 0 to hit (+1 pbs, -1 range), misses go two squares
- throwing from 40' or less - -1 to hit (-1 range), misses go two squares
- throwing from 60' or less - -2 to hit (-2 range), misses go three squares.

Does that seem right?

I'm also using the miss chart from the rules which has the 1 in the direction of the thrower, we seem to be at odds?

Here throw is 35' so miss should go 2 squares west. Let me know if you want to re-roll but you get both archers.

- Linah issues a healing pulse closing the last of Sajan's wounds.

- Nuveril's opponent hesitates at the sight of the enraged halfing running straight at it but retains enough wits to swing as she gets in range. The halfling throws up her madu and just manages to catch the axe on it avoiding a deep gash along the ribs.

Axe1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 miss AC16!
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

- Arjun moves closer and lobs a vial over the heads of both Nuveril and her gnoll. It bounces off the western wall showering both archers in icy shards. Arjun please see spoiler above. There was also a -4 to hit for soft cover but it was obviously a miss regardless. I make that going two squares west and bouncing which seems like the best result.

Reflex Archer 1 1d20 ⇒ 20 pass
Reflex Archer 2 1d20 ⇒ 10 fail

The north archer manages to avoid the worst of it while the other catches the shards fully.

- The demon throws its head back and screams, a song of frustration and bloodlust. Again its eyes sweep over you, assessing its next target. They stop on Khalid's not quite vestments and, abandoning its tactical position on top of the wall, it leaps high in the air falling upon the inquisitor, its halberd a black blur of motion. It manages to beat Khalid's guard, the blade sliding past Tempest to gash the inquisitor's hip sending a burning pain up his leg. DC 16 Fort save please

Jump1d20 + 31 ⇒ (17) + 31 = 48
Acrobatics 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Halberd 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17 hit
1d10 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Khalid has a readied attack. Sajan is up. MAP is updated.

Khalid gets the attack first, and then drops like a stone. His max HP is 16.

Although Sajan yearned to crush gnoll skulls between his fists, he knew what he must do. He saw Khalid fall before the demon, and moving around the demon warily to U24, I can get there without AOO. he waited for Grall to flank the beast so he could grapple it...

Readied action, once Grall or someone else moves into a flank at W22 Sajan will grapple.

I caught it but yeah still a miss with the shield. Underfoot is really paying off. It is really nice in conjunction with the +1AC from small.

Arjun has the Splash Weapon Mastery feat, which allows him to use splash weapons as though he had the Far Shot feat. This doubles the range increment to 40 feet. Also, I can affect one additional square and can adjust the roll on the miss grid by +1 or -1.

Not that it matters for this creature, but there would have also been 2points of fire damage from Flame of the Dawnflower, provided the crit confirmed.

- Khalid maintains his composure as the demon descends, bracing Tempest with both hands to impale the creature as it falls. His aim and balance is good but some invisible field diverts the blade just barely enough to stop it pentrating the demon's flesh fully. Prot good just prevents the confirm!

- Sajan uses his mobility to get behind the demon, opening a flank for Grall and trying to use Khalid's distraction in order to again grapple it. The demon is too quick though and he is forced to take a step back in order to avoid the swinging halberd. OK admit I'm not 100% on how this works but I don't think it matters with the grapple a miss, flank or not. Think that Sajan needs to spend the whole round to refocus and act on 22a if he wants to flank with Grall. The best way I can see to construe Sajan's action with Khalid up is to present Grall a flank. Let me know if you want to alter. Moving on as Grall will hit and confirm regardless.

- Enraged, Grall drops his javelin and taking falchion in both hands, charges the demon, ramming it with his shoulder like a battering ram and nearly bouncing it from its feet. His falchion swings in a glittering arc, hacking deeply into the demon's neck and sending its black blood spurting everywhere. Eyes fluttering, the demon sinks to its knees, critically wounded, and for a moment you think it is done... However, it refuses to fall, grasping its halberd with what appears to be the last of its strength.... 68hp excluding DR, soooo close.

Nuveril's opponent, emboldened by its near hit, tries to bury her beneath its bulk, swinging away with its axe. It manages a glancing hit to her shoulder.

Axe1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 hit
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Its partner charges across at Linah trying to take her scimitar out of alignment with its shield and swiping low with its axe but she dodges nimbly aside.

Axe1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 miss
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Both archers fire on Arjun seeking to prevent more bombs but their aim is no more accurate.

Bow1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 miss
1d8 ⇒ 6

Bow 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 miss
1d8 ⇒ 8

The last gnoll, unnerved by your treatment of the demon, drops its shield, turns and bolts, heading north up the side street and towards the lower gate house.

Linah is up. MAP is updated.

Think that far shot reduces your range penalty from -2 to -1 rather than increasing the range increment itself so a missed shot in the 20 to 40 range would still go two squares?

Similarly, the splash weapon mastery bonus of getting an extra splash square only works on a hit right so won't apply to a missed bomb.

Thanks for pointing out I got the grid adjustment wrong though I see now you can pick +1 or -1 rather than a straight re-roll. Not sure where I was getting that from and we were doing that previously so doh on my part. In future I'm going to leave that completely up to you. If you don't post an adjustment I will just assume your taking the roll.

My initiative should be 22/21, having already acted this round via a readied action. No change to my action, Grall needed a flank regardless. Shouldn't Gralls initiative have changed having delayed until I gave him a flank? Or did he post a round early?

He had taken a round 3 action and posted a round 4 the crit, flank or no flank. You were acting at the bottom of round 3. As I see it Sajan could (1) do nothing in round 3, refocus and act at the top of round 4 (which I think was the original intention when you thought Khalid was down) or (2) flank for Grall and try a grapple at the bottom of round 3 giving you a round 4 action. Fine with either and felt confident continuing as it didn't effect anything else.

I readied an action to grapple when Grall moved to flank (which he did in round 4), so I should be just after him in initiative count 21 in round 4, having already acted this round (missed by rolling a 2 on CMB). Not sure where the confusion is coming from on my actions, i'm not trying to change anything lol.

Sticky with the demons blood, Grall hacks Linah's gnoll to the ground with a series of short but effective blows.

The gnoll archers look at you, then each other, and run, one following its companion north while the other goes south. The running axeman heads toward the lower gatehouse. They go in straight lines as far as they can go.

Nuveril's opponent stands its ground, snarling at the halfling and bringing the axe down over its head. The halfling manages to avoid a killing blow but takes a painful hit to the shoulder.
