Norhalo |

-Norhalo moves to J9 and casts burning hands, also dodging the AoO. I modified this a tad to keep Jaed from getting hit. Both take full damage.
No problem; burning feathers smell terrible.
Assuming that no more goblins are standing by the time I act...
I move to the South Gate (G12 or so) and look/listen for more goblins out in the town.
If the goblin at I10 is still up...
I'll take a 5' step back to K10 and take a shot at the goblin with my spear:
To hit: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
If the tactical picture changes dramatically (e.g., another bunch of goblins shows up), I'll let you know what I do then. BTW, how well does ray of frost work as a fire extinguisher?

Jaxom Cambourne |

Jaxom, seeing the other goblins rush into the square runs over to the nearest one and swings his longsword,
Attack roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
missing, he mutters "Hold still you little bugger."

Jedech Crell |

Just as the party turns to see the goblins entering from the South, a wagon heavily ablaze is also spotted in the background. These goblins seem to have torches in addition to their dogslicers...
-Jaxom delaying
-Calathes is temporarily distracted by one of the few citizens left in the square, and thusly aims a foot or so off from the goblin.
-Issak doesn't quite reach the goblin with his glaive Its just a normal miss, you're within reach.
-New Goblins. The first (G11) moves to (H10), provoking an AoO from Issak, which it deftly dodges; it swats the torch at Issak... and misses! Second goblin (I12) runs to (I10), and does the same. The last goblin charges Calathes, but bounces off his mage armor!
-Jaed charges the goblin now in I10 and slays him!
-Jedech heads to H7, and fires at the odd looking goblin, almost taking him out. (AoO from the goblin in G7 fails)
-Norhalo moves to J9 and casts burning hands, also dodging the AoO. I modified this a tad to keep Jaed from getting hit. Both take full damage.
-Special Goblin 5-foots to H12 and tries to trip Jaed with his whip quite unsuccessfully... then passes out unconcious.By the by, for simplicity: the Goblins have an AC of 16, "special" has an AC of 15.
Jed takes a five foot step back (to I6), reloads his beloved crossbow, and fires it at the goblin that just missed him with its dogslicer.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 271d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
[ooc] rolling to confirm critical along with additonal damage if successful[/occ]
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 151d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Jaxom Cambourne |

Round #2
Jaxom wil take a 5' diagonal step and place the goblin at I-10 between Isaak and himself.
Attack roll (Longsword): 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Attack roll (Shield): 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 22
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

I'm not, but there'll be other chances. One question, if you don't mind--all my PbP experience was several years pre-Paizo, on a yahoo group that some friends had set up so we could continue to game even though we were in different cities. How typical is it to have the ref just drop out of communication like this?

Not too often in my experience. Usually there is some sort of communication if a game is going to die. It's a roll of the dice so to speak when you are dealing with a DM without an established track record on the boards. There are some very good, and very reliable DM's here such as Alexander Kilcoyne, Lucendar, and Berwick to name a few. I will count myself as a reliable DM, though I will leave judgement of my abilities to my players.

Black Fang wrote:I should be ready to rumble by Monday, if folks are still interested.Outstanding. It looks like we have four checked in (Norhalo, Jedech, Calathes, and Issak); still missing Jaxom, though. Unusual party mix....
Not much stranger than it was to begin with, really. Issak will just need to focus more on keeping enemies away from the other three. Which, with Combat Reflexes and reach, is very possible.
