Paizo contest idea

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

i was thinking how cool it would be for Paizo to have a contest for a new base class. what if Paizo asked us all to make our own base class and after a set amount of time they would go through them and pick out their top 6 or 4 favorite and then have the forums vote on the finalist and then that base class would be added to the next big pathfinder book as one of the new pathfinder base classes.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Great idea!

Except I have so many great base class ideas, it would be hard to choose!

i do too, back in 3.5 i think, the dragon magazine had a contest like this and the prestige class was printed in it which was created by a fan

i cant remember what the name of the class was or which dragon magazine it was.

How did you come up with "top 6 or 4?" Little awkward lol. They really dont need a contest. Maybe they could just start a forum section for homebrew classes. Forumites could comment or vote on them.

I dunno...I think we're about maxed out for base classes. And I'm not really a huge fan of prestige classes. Frankly, I'd like to see less classes and more class options/archtypes...about 19/20 class concepts I see people pitching would just as easily be realized as a bit of multiclassing or making a new (or even using an existing) archtype.

Paizo has offered it's players enormous flexibility within each of the classes...so much that I see most "new" classes as rather pointless.

You my have to look at archetypes since Paizo has pretty much said they want to stop with base classes after the Magus.

Agreed. I think we will see a "psychic" class but I do hope they are done with the new class of the month/book nonsense.

I wouldn't mind reviving something along the lines of the Master DM Competitions that ran for years on the old WoTC boards.Do it every six weeks or so. It wouldn't be offical unless the Paizo people made it so, but it would be good

Take care,

Kerney

first i will admit that i am a fan of more base classes so the idea of another base class is exciting to me.

i just think giving players the opportunity to have something they made published into a core pathfinder book would be awesome, i would love to see something i made published as a real pathfinder class but i would like to see what others come up with as well.

i just think it would be a cool thing for paizo to do
