Going to be away from the computer for a few hours. Assume Freya is being generally unpleasant. She's out of first level spells but can use daze and/or fire her crossbow; punching dagger in melee, if absolutely unavoidable. If it's more undead, there's not a thing she can do but hope someone else can take them down. :)
Joana |
Time to start getting them killed off, then, right? Fewer names to remember. ;)
DM J |
For HP rolls for 2nd level, please roll here. I have a house rule where you can take your roll or have me roll for you, but if I roll, you have to take my result, even if it's the same or worse.
Rauno Redpath |
Here is what I was looking at for Rauno's second level. Let me know what you think.
Rauno will take second level as a Ranger. This is harkening back to his upbringing as a member of a wandering caravan as a youth as well as his years spent lurking and observing around Westcrown.
Changes:
Hit Points: Add 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Proficiencies: Add all simple and martial weapons, light and medium armor and shields (not tower).
BAB: +1
Fort: +2
Refl: +2
Class Ability: Favored Enemy (Humanoid, Human). +2 to hit/damage, Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, Survival.
Class Ability: Track. Add 1 to survival checks to follow or ID tracks.
Class Ability: Wild Empathy. Improve attitude of animal.
Skill Points (11, including favored class).
+1 Bluff.
+1 Knowledge Arcana.
+1 Knowledge Dungeoneering.
+1 Knowledge Engineering.
+1 Knowledge History.
+1 Knowledge Local.
+1 Perception.
+1 Sense Motive.
+1 Spellcraft.
+1 Stealth.
+1 Survival.
Edit: I think I will take you up on the house hit point roll rule... Thanks!
DM J |
Rauno: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
AdAstra: It's really hard to say, based on the limited sample size. My initial reaction is to say he's playing things rather NG, but then again, the law/authority in Cheliax (and Westcrown in particular) is so corrupt as to make it very difficult for a LG character to really let the "L" shine. I don't know that he's had much of an opportunity to let the Lawful flag fly, so to speak. I can see a case being made for either alignment, without too much difficulty. Kind of a wishy washy answer, but that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it. :-)
Tao Culverton |
HP:1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
skill:
+1 perception
+1 sense motive
+1 knowledge(arcana)
+1 knowledge(dungeoneering)
+1 knowledge(planes)
+1 knowledge(religion)
Saves: Fort+2 Will+2
Domain: Growth (4/day)
Judgement 1/day
Monster Lore: +1 to monster knowledge checks
Spells:
level-0:stabalize, create water, detect magic, read magic
level-1(2/day)cure light wounds, prot/evil
Stern gaze: +1 to intimidate & sense motive
obviously, I'll keep my roll for HP...
AdAstraGames |
I plan on taking a level in fighter to reflect Hardin's adolescence (growing up in a noble family).
The bonus feat will be Dodge. I'll be adding Heavy armor proficiency and all Martial Weapons (Woo-hoo! Flails!)
Skill ranks will be in:
+1 Swim (just to get the adjusted skill back up to 0...)
+1 Intimidate
+1 Knowledge (Nobility)
+1 Perception
+2 Fort, +0 Will, +0 Ref
1d10 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
I'd like your re-roll option. I don't think you can get any worse than that. :)
Sarien Ruseff |
Level 2 Updates:
Sticking with another level of Rogue since that's what he does.
HP increase: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6
Including the +1 for Con and +1 for Favored Class the new total is 16.
BAB increases to 1
Base Reflex increases to 3
Adds Evasion and Rogue Talent: Fast Stealth (moves at full speed while using stealth without penalty).
+ 1 rank to each of the previously ranked skills:
Acrobatics
Bluff
Climb
Disable Device
Escape Artist
Knowledge Local
Perception
Sense Motive
Sleight of Hand
Stealth
Use Magic Device
Joana |
For her second hex, she's taking Evil Eye. Skill points in Acrobatics, Escape Artist, Intimidate, Knowledge (local), Perception & Stealth.
Hit me with a HP roll, DM. Like Hardin, I can't do any worse.
Wander Weir |
I love that Yakopulio particularly took a shine to Sarien. She was the one he was impressed with the most as well during the introductions and I almost wrote up some comments agreeing with her about the absence of the Gods before I decided that it'd make my post too long and disjointed.
Awesome.

Bad news. My office blocked Paizo this afternoon, which means that posting will be a lot harder than it used to be.
I can always go to the library at lunch most days to get access, but that's only once a day. DM J, if that's too seldom for you, I understand. I was really hoping they wouldn't go all draconian, but alas...
I'm seriously contemplating buying a smartphone or something along those lines that would give me online access from anywhere, but that won't happen immediately and it's a less than ideal solution. So anyway, I'd be happy to keep playing to the best of my ability by posting at noon to 1pm EST but if you'd rather pull in another alternate to replace me, I'll understand.
DM J |
Many thanks! J
P.S. Obviously, if you roll 1's or 2's at low levels, you miss - but that's not what I'm talking about here.
Joana |
Edit: Ninja'd by Freya killing an armiger, so, you get 1 fame point instead of two. Although, on the bright side, none of the Armigers now knows what Freya looks like! :-)
Sorry, guys. If this is going to be a "winning hearts & minds" campaign in Westcrown, someone's going to need to keep Freya off the rope lines. She's not very good at gladhanding and kissing babies. On the plus side, she wasn't wearing her green cloak so you might be able to persuade people she's just a lone nutcase and not actually an official part of the group!
DM J |
Personally, I love Freya just the way she is.
But yeah, keeping her off the rope lines might not be a terrible idea, because this is in many ways a "winning hearts and minds in Westcrown" campaign, at least in part(s). There is plenty of the AP that doesn't revolve around this, but there are many aspects of it that do.
It's possible, too, that over the course of a 6 part AP, we might get to see Freya won over, herself - not that I'm counting on it.
Joana |
That WAS a sensible offer...coupled with a sort of bad roll ;-) We'll assume he was displeased with Hardin's tone of voice.
He probably didn't like the assumption that he needed protection, a big, famous man like him in front of a starstruck groupie. Self-promoters aren't known for being sensible. :)
Hardin Clegane |
I do admit that Hardin is...sorely tempted to smack someone around. He's just not quite sure who, yet. He also figures that she'd object to him intervening.
So, he figures that stabilizing someone after Freya's prickly charms prove more literally prickly than charming is the safer bet...
DM J |
Thanks, MoB - I appreciate the kind words. It's been a bit tougher to keep up with than I originally anticipated, but as long as you all are having fun, then I'm doing my job.
Right now, I'm having a new garage built, replacing my gas line (which broke), living for a week at my in-laws, and hitting my busy part of the month at work. So, I've been really stressed and haven't had the time to devote to the game that I'd like. I assure you, it will pick back up to speed in just a few days. Thanks to everyone for their patience.
Joana |
It's actually moving at a very reasonable pace for a play-by-post; it's just that those of us in AK's or Navior's Serpent's Skull games have gotten spoiled. ;)
DM J, as long as we're dealing with the "Liberators," could you put a link to the post where they're all introduced in your profile so we can get back to it quickly rather than going through page by page? There's too many of them for me to remember who they all are when a name is mentioned.

Lurker here. I think you should seriously smack Freya around. Boy does she define the true meaning of the word bi... I mean witch. ;)
@Wander: Ah, the lucky one. Another pbp with Joana. How are you so fortunate? It's a good thing your characters get along so well with hers, or this could get ugly. ;)
Javell DeLeon |
Dear Freya, I fear Tao is too shy for your subtle flirting. Perhaps if you are more direct he might be more responsive. He might even let you hold his... sword.
LOL!
Touche', Freya! :)
Okay, I'll stop intruding. I couldn't pass this one up. It's was just too good!
DM J |
Indeed, lurkers are always welcome.
FYI, gang, I'm posting from home today - where you might think that would make me available more often, actually, it's the opposite, as I'm backfilling the trench that was dug to replace my gas line.
So, I'll update as often as possible today, and should be back to full speed/strength by Monday.
Just wanted to keep you all advised.

I'm glad you're enjoying the storytelling; so am I! I don't think you need to worry about posting, especially since you are doing it here in the OOC thread. Following PbPs like this is what got me started in them. Reading along with the guys over in Aubrey's ROTRL thread is actually what convinced me that PbPs were a worthwhile investment.
