Non Epic style spellcasting past 20th level??

Advice

Hey,

One on my most favorite classes to play is and always will be the cleric. But I find I cannot play on in groups that plan to exceed 20th level for the express reason that I do not understand epic spell casting rules [from 3.5]. I was wondering if anyone has found an answer to this.

Is it possible to advance the spell progressions further and just keep adding meta magic feats epic and non epic? Is there some other way?

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks.

I ran an epic game once. There was no epic spellcasting, just higher level spell slots. very beneficial with metamagic. Works fine.

This gives you the additional benefit of bumping time stop into a 10th level spell.

Remember also, you can research spells. Just research your own 10th level, 15th level spells.

3rd Edition Epic Book? You gain high level (>10) spell slots ( I don't remember if you gain the slots each level or you gain it after spending an epic feat, prolly the later), which you use to cast high level spells modified by metamagic feats.

Yep. Take the Improved Spell Capacity Feat. Each time you take it, you gain a new high level (10+) spell slot. It gets kind of expensive after awhile, so you'll want to find a good balance between new slots and new metamagic feats.

Alternatively, if you're playing Pathfinder, Chapter 12 of the Core Rulebook has a section on taking characters beyond 20th level and has spellcasters automatically gain spell slots at certain levels.

Thanks for all the help. I will take a look at the chapter 12 stuff.
