If you liked "Seven Samurai" (Recently saw it) what did you think of the Western version, "The magnificient seven"?
Any other Kurosawa movies you'd reccomened?
Would you say on average that Clint Eastwood is a good actor?
"Seven Samurai" is one of my favorite movies. I saw "The Magnificent Seven" with high hopes... and hated it. The fact that the samurai are traditional warriors going up against honorless bandits with guns is totally lost in the remake, obviously.
ALL of Kurosawa's movies are awesome... I haven't seen them all yet, but I have yet to see one that wasn't fascinating. "Yojimbo" is the one that rivals "Seven Samurai" for my favorite of his samurai movies, but "Ran" and "Throne of Blood" and "Hidden Fortress" are all great as well. "Rashomon" is also brilliant, but not really a samurai movie at all. Haven't seen "Kagamusha" yet, which is a character flaw I need to address soon. I own the movie, in fact... just haven't watched it yet.
I would say on average that Clint Eastwood is a GREAT actor, honestly.

All five of them in one room? I can think of better things to do with my tentacles than murdering.
Hey, somebody had to say it.

I haven't listened to many of their songs. I know I don't really like any of Brittney's songs. And I heard one at one point on a radio that was cool and it turned out to be Lady Gaga.
So... yeah. Lady Gaga, I guess.

I might have been hanging around the wrong parts of the internet lately, but those gals all in one room that gets invaded by tentacle monsters brings up a different image in my perverted mind than the one, I suspect, you were going for...

Ok, so having established that you Think Clint Eastwood is a great actor, did he do most of the movie industry before the camera or behind it? Also, which is your favourite movie with him? Acting or directing...or both.
Have you ever got into a tv-series that you thought was quite good but then was canceled after only 2-3 seasons? And if yes, can you give me an example?
Ever watched any of the Zatoichi movies or series?
Clint Eastwood is more or less the ONLY director/actor who can direct himself without it looking like ego or vanity. That's a relatively huge accomplishment right off the bat. I think he's probably an even better director than he is an actor, frankly; I can't remember the last time I saw a movie he directed that wasn't good. (Haven't seen Invictus yet for whatever reason.) My favorite Clint Eastwood movie is "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly," but spots #2—#10 would probably be "Dirty Harry," "Tarantula" (he just had a cameo there, but it was a good one!), "Unforgiven," "Gran Torino," "In the Line of Fire," "Sudden Impact," "Letters from Iwo Jima", "Changeling," and "A Fistful of Dollars."
The cancelled TV series situation has happened to me plenty of times. The best example (AKA the most frustrating) was HBO's "Carnivale." Runners up would be "Millennium" (which had the best season finale ever in season 2, then self-destructed itself by completely veering away from that storyline in a mostly inept season 3 that got itself cancelled 2 years too early to finish out its storyline) and Deadwood (which at least got to end gracefully... but I wanted MORE).
Haven't watched the Zatoichi movies yet. Hope to some day!

The first thing Clint Eastwood is suposed to have done is a serie called "Rawhide" as far as I know, ever seen it? I'm trying to find it right now.
Some people complain about the 2003 version of Zatoichi by Takeshi Kitano, but I thought it was pretty good.
Any thoughts about "lone wolf and cub"?
What did you think of the Ghostbusters movies?
Also, Richard Dean Anderson is suposed to have done some kind of Western style serie between MacGuyver and Stargate Sg-1, have you any idea what that was?

Seattle is on Puget Sound, but Studpuffin and I would really like to see the Pacific Ocean proper. If we spend an extra day or two in the area, where would you recommend we go to be able to best experience the Pacific? Are there any other 'don't miss' experiences in the region?
The only part of the Pacific I've actually been to in Washington is La Push, as part of my niece's epic journey to go see Forks and other "Twilight" associated sites. While I'm not a "Twilight" fan by any stretch of the imagination, La Push is actually really neat—it's tiny but the scenery is unbelievably cool and beautiful. It's about a 3 to 4 hour drive, more or less, to get to La Push from Seattle—getting to the coast along other routes might be faster, but the drive itself through the Olympic Rain Forest is quite neat. (My experience with the Pacific is pretty much 99.9% from California.)
Beyond the Pacific Ocean, other "cant miss" experiences are downtown Seattle (particularly the Pike Place Market, which includes the fish-throwing fishmongers and the very first Starbucks ever), the University district (lots of cool shops and neat movie theaters and Scarecrow Video—the best video store in the world), and if you're still feeling exploratory after the trip to the ocean, Mount Rainier. The Pacific Science Center/Space Needle/Sci-Fi Museum is a cool place to check out as well, come to think of it. And the Ballard Locks are a can't miss if you're into "The Deadliest Catch" or fishing boats in general. And Capitol Hill has a lot of great shops and cool movie theaters too... although I think the University District does a better job there. And finally, if you're into movies, check out Gold Class Cinemas here in Redmond... SWANKY!

Just noting that Lady Gaga (as Stefani Germanotta) wrote "Quicksand" on Britney's last album, and is believed to have contributed to at least one other song on it; also "Telephone" was originally intended for Britney but it was rejected by the label.

I really quite loved the manga of "Lone Wolf and Cub." Haven't seen the movie/anime/whatever.
Ghostbusters! I love the first one, I'm ambivalent at the second one.
No idea about Richard Dean Anderson's Western... he's not on my watch radar.

I was told by a female friend of mine recently that she does not believe that men and women can be "just friends" (making it ironic that she is my friend I suppose). What do you think?
Ever played the Shadow hearts or Shadow hearts covenant games?
What do you think about alternative history novels? Novels taking place in our world but where one significant historical event played out differently, like Napoleon winning at Waterloo or something like that?

I have plenty of friends who are women. So I think your friend is wrong. (shrug) Is she perhaps trying to send you a hint?
I tinkered with Shadow Hearts but it didn't really hook me in.
Dan Simmons' novel "The Terror" is one of the best novels I've read in the last few years, and his novel "Drood" is also really cool. I also quite liked F. Paul Wilson's "Black Wind." Those are just 3 alternate history novels that pop into mind, so yeah, I like them I guess.

I love Firefly. Not as much as the REAL fans. But I think Firefly's easily the best thing he's done. That would certainly count as a show that I'm sad got axed... but since I discovered it on DVD after the fact, I never went through the sadness of having it yanked away from me.

When are you gonna stop being a big mean meanhead and tell us what the next few APs after Carrion Crown are gonna be? I mean Jade Regent we know, but we want more details and you haven't given them to us. My working theory why not is because you're a big mean meanhead. Thoughts?
Another theory: We always announce adventure paths at Paizo Con and Gen Con. ;-P
NOTE: This theory does not rule out the possibility of me being a big mean meanhead.

Why are the gunslinger, the ninja, and the samurai getting their own new iconics, when the previous alternate class, the anti-paladin, just got Seela dressed up in "scary" armor?
If a paladin strikes an anti-paladin or vice-versa, do they annihilate each other, and release energy equal to their mass times the velocity of the speed of light squared?
Will there be a pirate class to combat the ninja?
Will there be a humanoid turtle race to supplement the ninja class?
What is your personal favorite class?

The anti-paladin isn't Seelah, it's some scary dude with a properly Chaotic Evil style grin dressed up in armor from the Evil Rack shop.. In fact if you look in the APG, the two have a one on one fight scene. Such a fight is kind of insteresting... Seelah can heal herself, but Harry the Anti-Paladin can also channel smite her on top of thier mutual smite on each other.
Unfortunately however the mechanics don't allow for two Paladins of say opposing factions, to go full out and smite each other. That'd be a far more interesting fight story wise.

Hahaha, considering we haven't meet in person for 5 years I doubt it, but an interesting thought regardless Mr. Jacobs.
Right, which do you think is a more interesting setting, Cyberpunk or Steampunk, assuming you like either of course?
If Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark were to join into a union and start taking over the world, what would be an awe-inspiring name for such a coalition?
Do you drink beer, and if such, what’s your favorite brand?

which martial arts style would you wish to become a master of?
what three areas of expertise would you wish to be a master of(aka pretty much anything not a martial art that one could master)
Probably one that involved the use of a sword or other weapon, since that type of fighting looks more interesting than unarmed fighting. Unarmed fighting looks more likely to give you a broken finger or toe than swordfighting.

What are your thoughts of adapting the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game rules to science-fiction rpgs? Modern rpgs? Horror rpg?
I've already written about 90,000 words on my own game, "Unspeakable Futures," which uses the Pathifnder rules to present a post-apocalyptic future Earth where robots, mutants, magic, and above all else Lovecraftian monsters now rule the world. So I'm pretty much in total support of adapting the PFRRPG to other genres.

Why are the gunslinger, the ninja, and the samurai getting their own new iconics, when the previous alternate class, the anti-paladin, just got Seela dressed up in "scary" armor?
The antipaladin did get a piece of artwork and an iconic. He's on page 123 of the Advanced Player's Guide.
If a paladin strikes an anti-paladin or vice-versa, do they annihilate each other, and release energy equal to their mass times the velocity of the speed of light squared?
Either that, or they'd both roll a natural 1 and be shamed for the rest of their lives.
Will there be a pirate class to combat the ninja?
Nope. Not until we do a robust set of rules for naval combat, at least.
Will there be a humanoid turtle race to supplement the ninja class?
Eew. No.
What is your personal favorite class?
Bard. Closely followed by rogue and cleric and druid.
James Jacobs Creative Director |
Right, which do you think is a more interesting setting, Cyberpunk or Steampunk, assuming you like either of course?
Steampunk is more interesting, but probably because I've encountered far more interesting steampunk settings (particularly Iron Kingdoms, Arcanum, and Final Fantasy) than I have cyberpunk settings.
If Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark were to join into a union and start taking over the world, what would be an awe-inspiring name for such a coalition?
Swefinnorden!
Do you drink beer, and if such, what’s your favorite brand?
The more beer tastes like beer, the less interested in it am I. I certainly don't have a favorite brand, but if I had to pick one, it'd be North Coast Brewery, since that's a brewery that's only an hour away from where I grew up. I suppose my favorite TYPE of beer is raspberry lambic... which certainly doesn't taste like beer at all.
