Do you think it is accurate? That sounds like a Miahchael Bay approach to Godzilla. Every movie has to have bigger and more better explosions than the movie before, except replace explosions with Godzilla.
I wonder if they'll get to a point where Godzilla is so big you can see him from space?
Not really. It's more a result of the fact that over the 60 years they've been making Godzilla movies, the size of city skylines has increased. In order to continue having Godzilla be as tall as the buildings he's attacking, he HAS to increase in size, just as the height of buildings over the past six decades has increased.
Also... I wouldn't put any weight to his size in the movie poster. Sizes in movie posters are the way they are to make an eye-catching poster, not to give accurate representations of relative sizes of the characters in the poster.

I'm creating a campaign in Sarusan. Clearly, much of the information about that locale is deliberately vague, which is why I chose it. Even so, I have a couple of questions that shouldn't be too spoiler-ish:
1) Are there any plans within the next year or so of releasing canonical information regarding Sarusan? Even though it is a GM's prerogative to change things as he/she wishes, I'd hate to go to the work of detailing the place only to have Paizo release an official, and likely vastly superior write-up in the near future.
2) It has been stated in other posts that the "Stolen Map" representation of Golarion is distorted, partly due to the use of a Mercator projection in the map upon which the pilfered map is based. Can you give us a hint how large the continent (it is a continent, right?) is? I've read several references to Australia in discussions regarding Sarusan, so would that be a reasonable model in terms of size?
1) We only generally announce the next 6 months or so of products, and those are public knowledge (but no, none of them have Sarusan elements planned). I'm not going to say if we have plans for it beyond that window.
2) The primary distortions are in the actual size of the continents and the size of the oceans. In truth, the oceans are ALL much bigger, and Casmaron in particular is bigger than depicted. The relative sizes of the continents are about right, so you can be confident that Sarusan is not THAT much larger than Avistan. Comparing it to Australia in size is probably a pretty safe bet.
What are the chances we could get a 3D globe of Golarion made?

Since Pennywise is one of the fundamental reasons I have my fear of clowns, along with the clown from Poltergeist and, more than anything else, common sense... yes. I would cross the street to avoid Pennywise as well. Probably ALL of the streets.

Chances of us publishing something we have no idea yet how to publish of a map that we're not yet ready to build are in the short term pretty much zero. In the medium term, probably closer to very very very unlikely. In the long term... who can say?

That's correct. We're not talking about any of them. Also, because it's "Inner Sea Gods" we're not talking about any of the female ones. There are no goddesses in this book. Also? The book itself has an increased chance to give you paper cuts, and for every book we don't sell, Paizo will come to your house and burn one of your favorite things and make you eat the ashes.
Either that... or there will indeed be some stuff about Urgathoa and Zyphus in here.
Probably the latter, since Urgathoa's on the cover of the book. Just a guess.

I have a player who is, for some reason, against being Good, even though his actions are like 10 to 1 Good to Bad in my Runelords campaign. I'm looking at the spell casters later in books and thinking about Against Good Spells. Am I silly to worry about what his alignment is?
For a character whose class isn't tied to an alignment, it's less important to worry about those things... but yeah... a player who doesn't play according to alignment and who doesn't want his alignment to change is just not understanding the way the game works.

Do you have any general advice to an aspiring writer who wishes to become the author of fantasy books?
More specifically, do you have any general advice for one suffering of stress, a writer block and a lack of free time?
Write every day. And read every day. And immerse yourself in writing culture—hang out with other writers online or in person. Go to conventions to talk to publishers. Even consider self-publication.
I actually struggle with the combination of stress, writer's block, and a lack of free time myself—the first and last of those, I think, have a significant role in causing the middle one. When I'm stressed, I also tend to get hit with insomnia. The best way I know of to handle stress is to immerse myself in a movie or book or video game. And the best way I know to handle a lack of free time is to take a long hard realistic look at what I'm doing and make changes to my life to reduce things I'm doing.

The phrase "as if" is often used within the rules when something acts like something for a specific purpose, but demonstratively isn't the thing it acts like.
Like how a displaced creature benefits from a 50% miss chance as if it had total concealment.
I am unsure if this is always how "as if" is used when parsing a rule.
"As if" could actually be evidence that the thing is in fact what it acts like.
Like how a person who has just seen a ghost might act as if he has seen a ghost.
Do you have any hints on how I should interpret "as if"?

Horgus Gwerm wrote:Dear James Jacobs,
Sorry for asking so many questions, but I have two questions about settlements and multiclassing:1) In a settlement's marketplace section, are the minor, medium, and major items all supposed to be worth more gp than the base value, and if so, if the base value is 12,000 gp and the minor items are 4d4, how am I supposed to find a minor item worth more than 12,000 gp? So, for example, let's say I had a large city with a base value of 9,000 gp, and 3d4 minor items, are the 3d4 minor items supposed to all be under the value of 9,000 gp, or are they all supposed to be above the value of 9,000 gp, and if so, how am I going to find a minor item worth more than 9,000 gp?
2.) When you multiclass a new class, do you get maximum hit points, just as if you had made a new character? When you multiclass spellcasters, do you get bonus spells from having a high ability score for both classes? So, for example, if I have a cleric 1/druid 1/wizard 1 and I have a 16 wisdom and 15 intelligence, do I get 6 1st level spells from all the classes together? (plus the domain spells)
Thanks for answering all my questions, I know it's probably annoying for you!
1) Nope; remember that there's only a 75% chance an item of equal or less than the settlement's base value is actually for sale. If that item is specifically listed in the item's items for sale, that rises to 100%. For items above the base value, the ONLY way you can find them for sale in any one city is if the GM deliberately places such an item for sale (either by picking it or choosing one randomly to fill the settlement's available item slots).
2) You only get max hit points at 1st level, not when you multiclass.
And nope! The whole point of this thread is to ask questions! :-)
So then what is the point of the minor, medium, and major items if you can only get items under the base value

There's not a sure-fire works-for-everyone solution for solving writer's block. If there were, then writer's block wouldn't be a thing. Best anyone can do is try to find something that works for them and spread the word in case it might work for someone else.
If you're not lucky to be in college/school or work in a place where writers are your co-workers... I guess the best bet would be to look around local resources for book clubs or writers' clubs.

You have a 75% chance to be able to buy ANY ITEM AT ALL if it's under the settlement's base value.
The settlement's minor, medium, and major items are specific individual items that are guaranteed for sale in the settlement until they're bought, at which point they're sold out of that item. The point of the three categories is to allow a better spread of items, with more of them being less powerful than more powerful.

1) If the caster of the shadow spell knew about those spells, yes.
2) I might, in some cases, where the spell-like abilities allow the creator of the simulacrum access to spells that he shouldn't yet have access too (such as a djinni's wish).
3) By playing up the fact that the creatures granting those wishes always have their own agendas and making it somewhat risky to use them for those wishes. See the glabrezu chapter of Demons Revisited for more detailed examples.
4) Calling a creature with gate is instantaneous. The creature is there, and then assuming you can secure its cooperation, it takes as long as it takes to perform the service.
5) No.
6) By giving each of the creatures he conjures specific and unique and memorable personalities so that they become recurring NPCs.

4) Gate talks about being able to control creatures under a certain HD, then goes on to explain how you could secure their service for longer more involved favors. This question comes up, because the 3.5 gate allowed you to call a creature for one round per level as "immediate service". The PF version of the spell seems to make that same distinction, but does not specify how long the not "longer or more involved" service is. I'm confused as to why they specify what creatures you can control if you can't control creatures.

A rusalka, because she's the prettiest of the evil fey. Also because she could beat up anyone who I wanted to get revenge upon at the prom, since that's a great place to get revenge.
But I would dump her immediately if she forgot the "s" at the end of my last name.

Ooh, I rather like the implications of this answer, thank you! I hadn't even considered the possibility that Zutha might be weaker than Karzoug, given that the Cenotaph seems to be how Tar-Baphon became mythic.
(I've been mulling over in my head a Varisia-based campaign set in the aftermath of Shattered Star, based on the premise that Magnimar would set out to find the remaining Runelords and try to prevent their return, or at least settle the wilderness and explore ancient ruins so as not to be caught unaware. Alaznist and Sorshen as the final enemies would be fun.)

No love for Xanderghul? He was outright the most powerful of them, after all. Although "Sorshen Lives" is still in that little teaser from Part 6 of S*.

I've often wondered this myself. Assuming Zutha has access to 9th-level spells: minimum level of 17 (CR 16), + 2 for Runelord stat and equipment bonuses, + 2 for Lich template, + 1 for minimum Mythic Tiers (he could have between 1 to 3 thanks to rounding down) = CR 21 which puts him on equal footing with Karzoug.
If Zutha is to be weaker, either he doesn't have access to 9th level spells (which doesn't seem right since he should have 9th Level Necromancy spells), or he doesn't have the +2 for stats and equipment that Karzoug has (though, again, it doesn't seem right to deprive Zutha of Exceptional Stats as both other Runelords to date have gotten this boost).
His +2 for being a Lich is pretty much locked in thanks to his phylactery backstory (and Artifact). And it's pretty hard to ignore the fact that he's Mythic unless parts of Mythic Realms entry about the Cenotaph are either ignored or retconned.
Personally, I'm fine with Zutha being equal to Karzoug.
James Jacobs, any thoughts on this matter? Should Zutha be equal to Karzoug? Or do you see a way to weaken the necromantic Runelord's power?

Well, I'm not James Jacobs, but since I've been taking a good hard look at the Runelords as part of my interest in this campaign idea, I can definitely say that Zutha would be missing out on an equipment bonus. He's supposed to have only worn a pair of rings and some ioun stones, as opposed to Karzoug having literally three dozen magical items. He also might not have the extensive inherent bonuses to his statistics Karzoug has, especially if he only just barely can cast 9th level spells.
Nanatsusaya |

Well, the concept isn't for the party to just face off against each and every Runelord, and Alaznist + Sorshen is the combo that makes the most sense for what I want to do. (Cyrusian mostly corresponds to the modern Lands of the Linnorm Kings, not Varisia.) Zutha was eliminated because of how far east the Cenotaph is, and Belimarius and Krune were eliminated for just simply not being mythic enough. Indeed, Belimarius might 'show up' simply by being the only Runelord whose return the party actually manages to prevent.

Or Zutha could be a Mythic Lich, like Tar-Baphon (and Tar-Baphon gained power from the Cenotaph).
