A good friend of mine decided to try out Pathfinder Society at Gen Con this year (he really enjoyed it), but in the process he lost the dice bag he had picked up at his first Gen Con about 20 years ago, and as a result, the entirety of his dice collection. He wouldn't admit it, but I could tell he was pretty upset about it (who wouldn't be after losing all those memories).
If anybody found a small velveteen bag with a Darksun logo, and a few sets of dice that roll like crap (I know he has at least one "death dice" with a skull instead of a one), let me know so I can get them to him. I'm not holding my breath, but it's the least I could do for him.
If it doesn't show up in a week, I'm going to move on to phase two. My friend's birthday is coming up on August 22nd, and it's my goal to reconstruct a dice bag for him as cool as the one he lost. What I thought would be fun is if I could obtain dice from other gamers complete with memories of why those dice are memorable (even one die with a story behind it would be fun). It would be especially cool if I could somehow obtain a few from Paizo staff. I'm willing to pay shipping on anything that needs to be sent. I'm also looking for a vintage Darksun dice bag. If anybody has a lead on where I can purchase one, please let me know.
You can contact me at r bolduan at gmail dot com (no spaces in that puppy and obviously the "at" and "dot" are @ and . respectively).

I know how your friend feels, I lost my dice bag at Gen Con as well. :(
To be honest, there wasn’t too much in it that couldn’t be replaced, only my ‘Gen Con’ labeled dice that I had collected over the years.
I would say the biggest loss I had was my Everquest D20 die. I loved that thing. Ah well. Already started recollecting my dice and actually picked up some nice looking Steampunk dice.
I wish your friend the best of luck and I think that is a great what you plan on doing for him.

That stinks Hobbun.
What gets me is there is a "Lost and Found" at Gen Con, and really, we're all gamers, and we know how valuable dice are to the owners. Why somebody didn't turn it in still surprises me.
In any case, I'm still hoping to hear from one of the Paizo staff to see if they'd be willing to help out (as well as any other gamers). Also, I'm extending my search to good D&D iron-on or sew-on patches since my chances of finding a Dark Sun bag are close to nil, so any suggestions would be welcome.

The lost and found at the Convention Center is (317) 262-3350. Also, in case gencon people picked it up to take back with them for safekeeping, the gencon customer service person in charge i believe is named Rachel. Her email is rachel at gencon dot com
I emailed her with info from your post, but received an auto response. She will not be in until Monday. Maybe she will know something, or have another idea or two for you.
Good luck.

Exactly. We're like a Fraternal Order. We should look out for each other and have each other's backs. I might be able to help out though. I'm gonna dig through my dice collection and see what I can come up with.

Thanks for the effort. Our friend left early on Sunday but we were able to stop in with Geon Lost and Found and put in a request to find it, so it should be on file that we're looking for it. I hadn't thought of asking the convention center (which I'll do). We were also hoping that somebody at Paizo might have had it dropped off since we believe it was lost at a delve table (he was writing up the character right before he lost it).
I'm hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst.

Hello! I'm sorry for your friend's loss. I tried browsing around a bit to solve the dice bag replacement issue itself, and came across something interesting. I came across two websites that do embroidery for dice bags: http://www.starwind.net/ and http://www.dicepouch.com/ . Unfortunately, the Dice Pouch person is closed until the 22nd, and you said that was your friend's birthday, but both are open to custom orders. You might find one of them able to put on the old Dark Sun logo. I don't have any dice to give, but I'm willing to chip in for the cost of the bag. Let me know, and I'll do what I can.

Thanks to everybody for the efforts! Jikuu, I'll have to look into those sites. After a few e-mails, things are not looking good on the recovery front, so I'm moving forward with constructing a new dice bag.
A colleague of mine won one of the artist-modified Gen Con dice bags in the auction last year and will be donating that as a replacement for the impossible-to-find Darksun Bag (one of these days I'll find one and give it to him as a different birthday gift). It's not exactly what we were looking for, but it's pretty damned cool.
As far as dice, I'm giving him my very first set of dice I bought for myself back in the 80's. They also roll well, which is an improvement.
For those of you interested in donating it's not just the dice I'm interested in. The important part is that the dice come with stories. I'm hoping to give him each die (if that's all you can donate) or dice set with a card describing the history of the dice, who owned it, and maybe a cool story associated with it. I've gotten a couple e-mails already and I'll try to respond as soon as I can but if you're interested in being part of this gift, you can contact me at:

I hate to be the bumpy sort but here it goes.
Thanks an awful lot to those of you who have shared your dice and your stories. They're going to make an awesome gift.
If possible though and not too much of an inconvenience, I was hoping that maybe, just maybe I could get a combined set from the Paizo staff to give him. I'm not sure if there's a best person to contact for this, but if there is, I think it would be awesome (or if you want to e-mail me, that's cool too).
Thanks again to all of you who have given!
