You know what 3.5 feat this feat reminds me of. Extraordinary spell aim.

Just reading it now, the first line of the feat says "You can modify an area spell" so just area spells, not effect or target spells it seems.

Sorry for resurrection, but Selective Spell got errata'd:

The Selective Spell feat as written allows you to selectively ignore spells like black tentacles and antimagic field. Is that the intent of the feat?

No, it only affects instantaneous-duration spells. The APG errata will clarify this. (SKR 10/08/10)

I've been thinking that was the best solution.
