Actual Release Date for APG?

Been checking the site and boards but cant find an actual release date for the APG? Has it be set yet?

I believe the official 'Street date' is August 5, first day of GenCon. If not exactly, it will be a day or two before that.

That is indeed the official release date and we plan to have all the product the distribution channel needs out to them well in advance of that date.

Did I read somewhere that subscribers can arranged to pick up their monthly shipment at GenCon instead? Or was that just for PaizoCon?

I believe that we will be trying to do the same thing at GenCon, though for some reason, we haven't announced it yet. Sounds like I need to check on this when I get in to work today.

We plan to start offering that option once the previous shipment has cleared the warehouse... which means early next week.

Thanks! I'm all set to pick up a GenCon.

The shipping date will be the same?

The Shipping date will be earlier. They try to get them to arrive a bit before the street date to subscribers/preorderers

Awesome. :)

So do we have to wait until the 5th to get the PDF or does that appear earlier? If so, when? I really wanna crack into this one ;)

That's why I asked the shipping date, when it ships they make the PDF available.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

We're shipping subscription copies and preorders next week, which is also when subscribers will get the PDF. Non-subscribers will be able to purchase the PDF starting on August 5.

When would you expect Amazon to have it in stock for them to ship out? I've pre-ordered already with them but I'm trying to decide if I should cancel that and instead order it directly from paizo.

Wait, really? I thought subscribers would be getting the PDF on August 5 as well, as happened with the Core last year. I remember getting my hardcopy of the book just before I left for GenCon, but not having access to the PDF until Thursday morning... This time is going to be different, though?

It usually heads out to distributors before they(Paizo) starts shipping them to us. Once its out to they don't really have much to go on for when it will arrive because it has to hit the distribution warehouse and then from there will go to Amazon. That said it should have plenty of time to arrive by the release date (Aug 5).

The subscriber PDF for the APG isn't being held back for Gen Con. The Core Rulebook was a special case.

I have better luck predicting the weather than I have predicting Amazon's ship dates. It's just not something we have any insight into.

Is Kingmaker #6 ready to go out yet? I have my account set to ship with the AP subscription. Will that hold up my APG?

I have a friend that wants to buy all the core books, can he pre-order them now and put a shipping of them all together? Including the APG of course.

Well, I know that it doesn't all happen on one day, so probably "throughout next week".

I'm really hoping I can grab my pdf by Wednesday, since my gaming group is waiting to start Kingmaker until we can get a look at all the options available to us. They're all getting the pdf, but I'm the only subscriber, so we were hoping that we could spend next week huddled around my laptop. If not, no big deal, but a dude can hope...

I just got a mail from Amazon saying that are pushing back the delivery of the APG. To quote:

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this delay."

Can you think of a reason that they did this? Was it something that PAIZO told them?

Amazon is notorious for not keeping up with gaming book pre-orders.

No. They did this with the Core Rulebook, too. For one thing, they always list street date as the expected ship date, but for some reason, they never have Paizo products available by street date. It's also possible that they will not be receiving enough copies to cover their pre-orders and will have to wait for a second shipment. This is apparently what happened with the Core Rulebook; of course, its first printing sold out so Amazon had to wait for the second printing before many of its preorders shipped.

Long story short, for some unknown reason, Paizo products always ship from Amazon late and sometimes ship very late. Amazon is cheaper than pre-ordering from Paizo, but Paizo is much faster.

Dear Paizo,

I just wanted to let you know that it would be perfectly OK with me if you were to ship my APG package today, as opposed to say... some day later this week. I wouldn't want you to feel as if you had to arbitrarily hold my shipment back for such trivial reasons as, "we can only get so many done in a day and yours will be... 'not today'". Or, "because your subscription is so large we could pack and ship half a dozen others in the same amount of time".

So, clear your conscience of such inconsequential concerns and feel free to box up my APG, Serpent's Skull AP#1 and other products today... now, in fact if you are so inclined and send it speedily on it's way to my door. Thus releasing my beautiful new PDFs for immediate perusal.

Thank you for your time,

Wolfthulhu

I don't know when they plan to ship. But their has been a tentative charge equal to the amount for the APG, on my account used for my subscription. It has been there since Friday, when I was checking my account balance online. I like to keep track of stuff like that.

That's not the actual charge, it's a 'flirtatious brush' to make sure the account is correct and the money is available. I believe that shows up when they send the 'shipping in the next week or so' email. That particular 'charge' will disappear, probably today and the actual charge will hit when they ship.

dude, I know its not the actual charge, but I know my credit union, and that as soon as Paizo asks for the release of funds I will get an official charge to my account that the money has been taken.

why do you thing I said TENTATIVE, there is a part of my banks system that shows how much is there and how much is being set aside for charges and stuff.

Uh.. Actually no.

Dear Paizo,

You can wait till the Monday after GenCon to ship all mine. I would seriously fail my will save and pack the APG in my luggage for our trip to Alaska (Cruisetour for 14 days, August 9th thru 23nd) and my wife would kill me for taking a PF RPG book with me on our second honeymoon (41 years).

This is not to just save my life, but my son has instruction upon my death to cancel all my Paizo subscriptions, and I don't want to cause Lisa and company to lose a good customer.

when will this be in Borders and the like?

That is odd, as the listing at Amazon says Aug. 24 for the in-stock date. Other online sites seem to be different for dates, though Barnes and Noble matches Amazon. Borders lists Aug. 18, while Overstock.com lists Aug. 17 (but at a very good price I must say, $30 including shipping). The only place that seems to have a date matching Paizo's is some site called bookdepository.com and they also have a price of $30 with free shipping.
