Well I spent part of yesterday in this very thread creating an ambitiously odd scenario for Celestial Healer that he never saw. It started off as an old French romance film, taig suggested lichdom into the plotline, and the story concluded as an old French romance with a lich film. So a new monster was created. The demitasse lich. Kind of a useless @#$%er, but he's real good at dying.

To create this set of scenes I braved the turbulence of the board's chaotic waves as they tried so ardently to gobble my best drafts. Onn again off again onn again off again. But I stuck with it and copied every post before hitting submit. I did it. I'm what you call... a he-ro.

Oops. I was going for ingmar Bergman.

Yes, this adventuring thing was working out quite well Arolys thought to herself.

I was on vicodin when I talked to my supervisor on Friday and then slept most of the weekend. So, it didn't dawn on me that I am working second shift today (1530 to 2400) until my supervisor asked me what I was doing at work at 0700 this morning. :(

Are the boards working yet?

Goooooooooooooooooooooooood morning Fawlty Towers!!!!!

The weekend was well lived- a good pair of shifts for the second job and sunday was spent helping clean a friend's house whose late (and terribly missed!!) mother was a horder. With a two man, three woman team, we cleaned out the foyer a bit and made headway into the living room. It looks like it will take another two days to finish the living room itself, and I think we'll need a smaller team to tackle her mom's room. There is a HUGE and BEAUTIFUL brooklyn apartment underneath all of that, and it really hurt when I got home and turned on the tv to discover that the show Hoarders was on. Here's hoping my friend hasn't picked up any of her mom's habits...

I'm also thinking about picking up another shift on Wednesday to help suppliment my income a bit- I need to come back financially from dropping that Delta flight to take Amtrak back on my little trip. I also need to figure out what's going on with the all-girl game and with paladins for the homebrew. But none of that's important right now- neither my boss nor my supervisor or in and I've got paperwork threatening to take over my desk. Time to get crackin'.

Night all.

Sort of caught up I think, 'cause Boards going up and down has me confused where I'm up to. :/

This work thing is starting to be annoying, although hopefully come Wednesday that may be changing...

Is Gary pressing buttons again?

In other news, after about a 2 year hiatus from gaming, we may be starting up again. Part of the old group and some new people (practically across the street from us -- who knew?) that one of our old gaming people know.

(I think my wife is more excited about it than I am...)

Congrats, Moff!

Moorluck was cross-posting, or he's finally lost it.

Flash, you didn't miss much at all, because the boards were up for a sum total of 37 minutes and 14.10874 seconds. Approximately.

Hey CJ --

You the one who suffers from Fibromialgia (sp?). My wife suffers from the same thing. (And "suffers" is a pretty good word for it.) We heard from friends/doctors to try taking Vitamin D supplements. After taking that for 2-3 weeks, she feels a lot better overall. I'm not saying that it's a "cure" but it does seem to really help her manage her pain and generally feel better.

Just thought you'd like to know in case it might help.

That's interesting. Diane and another lady in our Saturday group are both on Lyrica. I'll pass this on to them.

A theory of ours is that the primary source of Vitamin D is the sun. She doesn't get out all that much and she has very fair skin and so when she does get out, she makes sure that she is pretty well covered in SPF 500. I have a strong feeling that sunblock blocks the absorption of vitamin D.

From Wikipedia -- "Vitamin D also modulates neuromuscular function, reduces inflammation, and influences the action of many genes that regulate the proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis of cells."

"Neuromuscular function" is very much what Fibromialgia is all about.

Again, I'm not a doctor, but this is a nice easy over-the-counter thing to try that at least has helped my wife.

Morning, all. What did I miss?

You missed me. And I you.

You stood on that train platform in Marseille for ten minute past the time I left, absently gazing into the sky as if upon clouds projected glimpses of our treasured moments together on the hillside. At the cafés. In our room. Gone with a jolting screech of steel wheels and a shrill whistling dénouement. The wafting comfort of fresh baked bread mercifully replacing the lingering and mysterious sweetness of my neck as we hugged our last.

I will never forget you, Celestial Healer. Never forget me. The train rocks me to sleep like some industrial lullaby. A jarring ending to a lyrical bedtime story. My heart feels like it lost its wallet.

This is pure awesome.

Kentucky, Britain. Both have bad teeth. ;)
What is the deal with bad teeth in the UK? Don't they have dental as part of their government health care program?

Heh. I wondered this myself.

I have a friend who is doing an internship in England. When she needs a doctor, there's always one at hand. When she had a dental emergency, people looked at her like she had two heads. Way to live up to stereotypes, people.

Anyway, had a nice weekend. We went out to dinner on Saturday with my partner's family as a belated birthday celebration (he turned 30 while we were in Italy). I rarely eat red meat, but was inspired to eat a steak and it was the best I have ever had. I don't expect it to become a frequent thing, though.

I'm also glad to see that the boards are working for the time being.

So, as some of you probably know, I'm in the process of trying to go back to school for my PhD. We really like California and want to live there, and I've been looking at some schools out that way. But I've also been talking to professors about recommendations, etc. They're all pushing me to east coast schools.

That will create a dilemma... East coast for the best school or west coast for where we want to live? Meh.

PhD in what?

How long a process is it going to be? My feelings would be (assuming you have a choice) go to the best school to help your chances in getting a job you like anywhere you want.

Musicology. They say minimum 5 years, but nobody gets it done that quickly.

Good thoughts, good thoughts...

Surely there are great schools (not the best, sure, but still respectable) on the west coast. I think if you can find a school that has some "cred" in the real world, go for that one.

Awright folks, i'm off for now. I'm feeling introspective today as the weather has turned cloudy and thick with the promise of rain, so I'm thinking I'll stop by someplace and get a fresh muffin or some kind of pastry with tea and see if I can catch some of the storm. Here's hoping everyone's day is a good one.

Also, CH, I have to toot the horns of Hunter College and Columbia University since I ostensibly work for them. It would be wonderful to have you in NY.
