The power was out at work today for 3 hours. There is really nothing to do at a computer company when the power goes out.

Geeze. What DO you do when the power goes out at a computer company?

One word comes to mind- DAMN.

[EDIT] I gotta watch The Mist sometime soon.

Two things:

1) I think that's what a spider familiar would look like.

2) The Mist is a really good movie. It is NOT, however, a movie that should ever be played or watched while on deployment, separated from your wife and children. I will never forgive our ship's media center for making me go through that last year. I'll say nothing more to avoid spoiling it for others.

1) shudder

2) Agreed. That circumvents the boundaries of good taste.

Same conundrum, it just drops off before they tell you what happens.

Spoiler:
No military comes in to save the day either.

Spoiler:
Okay. Now I can see how the movie ending would really get under your skin. Still, it got under mine a little bit as well- I think I could tell the difference from an approaching monster and an approaching vehicle. Still, that mist was so thick....I dunno. I still would have prefered a more glorious end for myself and my son. I'm a sucker for the "No" ending of Phantasy Star II.

This quote is troublesome to me:

Spoiler:
"Some ceropalines lay the egg on a still-active spider, where it feeds externally on hemolymph. In time, that spider will die, and the mature wasp larva will then pupate."

The reason this is troublesome is that I want to pronounce "ceropalines" as "Sarah Palins". ;)

An otherwise excelent movie. Especially when viewed in the director's preferred black & white. But, yes. I also took issue with that 'little' change.

I read the shortstory when it was published. I was an avid King follower at the time. Never head an audio version though.

I thought movie really was good. I'd never read the story, so I didn't have to deal with the fact that there had been a change. However, I can imagine that adding the ending significantly changed the message or possibly added one that wasn't there before.

I'm fine with it. It seems like it was meant as a humorous jest, punny reference, and not a slam.

Apologies, Kruelaid. It was very much intended in jest...especially considering I have no strong feelings against Sarah Palin, myself. I'm actually pretty conservative, politically. I just found the possible rhyme amusing.

Again, I'm sorry my comment offended you.
