However, I wouldn't be adverse to moving back to TX, as long as it wasn't West TX. I really didn't like the Chihuahuan Desert all that much, and I'm a gardener. My wife doesn't want to take us away from my daughter's team of neurologists at Boston's Children's Hospital though. They've been on her case since her birth, and she's very skittish about change in that venue, as we have had a lot of bad experiences.
I was really just thinking of the job situation and you saying you definitely wanted to move back to MA. I've never lived further west than Abilene, and I don't think I'd want to. Yeah, your daughter's doctors have got to be a major consideration.

Nice DM you've got there. : S
Well the Rogue and the Swashbuckler also died. Malfeshnekor Charmed the Swashbuckler, but we all thought he used suggestion and it turns out that the way he worded what the Swashbuckler did wasn't right for charm person, so technically he should still be alive. And the Rogue died trying to go back in to save the Swashbuckler, so technically both of them should be alive... :/

Ugh. Not feeling well at all today.
On the bright side it looks like my financial aid paperwork is actually going to get to the school by the deadline, I hope, which means I would be able to do full-time instead of part-time this fall.
And the kidlet's typing lessons got off to a really good start yesterday. He's very enthusiastic about it and loves the program we're using.

What are you talking about? I watch those shows all the time! Check out Boomerang- it's where all the old cartoons went. The only "PC" thing I've noticed is the removal of disgusting stereotypes in many of the cartoons- but if you are a completionist, you can indeed get those on DVD. I just watched some good old fashioned Coyote and Roadrunner a few days ago. That show got me interested in physics, although I have to say that I was horribly disappointed when the reality did not match the fantasy, particularly where the teachers were involved.
Well, perhaps that is my problem. I don't have Boomerang as one of my cable TV options. I was thinking 'PC' as in exposing the youngins to cartoon violence. I remember quite a few discussions about the high level of fantasy violence in them being liable to forment use of anvils and dynamite in RL *sigh*. Perhaps it is just that the rights to the cartoons have been bought up by this channel, kinda like the old sitcoms are all on that other one now, whose name escapes me.

Usually Boomerang's part of the "Premium Cable" options (not Pay like HBO/Cinemax, but out there with the MTV2's).
They show all the classics like Scooby, Flintstones, Bugs & Daffy, Pink Panther, Space Ghost, Birdman and the Herculoids. Saturday mornings they will sometimes run a block of shows that were popular on Saturdays for a given year, but I don't know if they still do that.
If you get a chance, I *HIGHLY* recommend getting this channel. There's nothing like getting up on a Saturday morning, pouring a big bowl of Froot Loops/Cap'n Crunch and plopping down to relive the ol' childhood. For example, here's tomorrow line-up:
6:00am Pink Panther
7:00am Wacky Races
7:30am The Perils of Penelope Pitstop
8:00am Snorks
9:00am Dynomutt, Dog Wonder
9:30am Fantastic Max
10:00am Hong Kong Phooey
10:30am Top Cat
11:00am The Flintstones
11:30am The Flintstones
12:00pm The Jetsons
12:30pm The Jetsons
1:00pm Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space
1:25pm Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space
1:50pm Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space
2:15pm Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space
2:40pm Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space
3:00pm The Huckleberry Hound Show
4:00pm Atom Ant
4:30pm Banana Splits
5:00pm The Mr. Men Show
6:00pm SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron
6:30pm 2 Stupid Dogs
7:00pm The New Scooby-Doo Movies (This is a Globetrotters episode!)
8:00pm Dennis the Menace
9:00pm Johnny Bravo
9:30pm Cow and Chicken: Featuring I Am Weasel
10:00pm Thundarr the Barbarian
10:30pm The Batman (the new one)

Ah, I see. I think you mean Nick at Nite.
That really sucks. Out by my stepfather in VA they don't get Syfy on the ONE cable network he has, so he's forced to get satellite.

Well, I had a long post posted, but then somehow that already posted thing turned into my PbP post I was writing on another tab and disappeared. After I had posted it. *sigh*
Anyway, it was never about loving MA so much that I wanted to go back. It was about getting home to my daughter (Julia, not Ally my stepdaughter with the CP) who was still in the custody of my sociopathic ex-wife. Now that she is 17 and in my custody that's not as much of an issue. I liked parts of TX, I liked the people, the Mexican food, the steaks, etc. I could see myself being very happy there.
I kinda wish I could have stayed in the military too. If I had had custody of my daughter at the time, I would have. I liked running a weekly tabloid newspaper. I probably would have been involved in some world-wide news had I been in the army in 2003 (Arabic qualified journalist? I would have been on the ground in Iraq in five minutes afetr we went in). In fact, I once worked for the LTC who was in command of those transport folks that got ambushed (you know, with Jessica whats-her-face?) one of my battle buddies was supposed to be on that convoy as a journalist, and didn't go. I might have been right there had I still worn the uniform. But, who knows? A lot of those folks ended up dead, not famous.
Anyway, no sense in wondering about ifs and buts.

NICE! I do wish I had that. I get premium stations, but I know Boomerang aint one of them =( Got a million ESPNs and not one rassfrassin' vintage cartoon network.

Actually I googled it: TVLand is what I was thinking of. They still do Nick at Nite? That was mostly 80's sitcoms though (although I guess that is pretty 'vintage' now *sigh*)

WHOOPS! TVLand, yeah. I forgot that TV Land was a portion of Nick at Nite until they decided get their own network.
Yup, 80's is vintage now. 90's is next. Two interesting decades, unless you happened to be a kid in the former and a teen in the latter.

Particularly the Flintstones. Man, I hate that show.

Well, it was OK. The Jetsons were better. And HB was the content provider for most of the Saturday Morning TV expansion. Man they ground out some schlock. But, much like 1e D&D rules, schlock with nostalgia! ;)

Meh. Satellite here has gotten spotty review. And I have cable modem and phone thru them, so it would be a mess to untangle, one I'm really not up for just for some cartoons I could watch on the Internet if I really want to.

Mmm...grilled cheese. And fruit salad. At least lunch tastes good. I'd already promised the kid grilled cheese when I discovered that the bread had gone moldy so we had to run out to the store. He was definitely not up for a change of plans today. But we ended up with the fruit salad because of it, so I guess that's a good thing.

We tried satellite for a while, but the squirrels kept knocking our dish out of alignment. It wasn't worth the hassle. And part of our cable is included for free in this apartment complex, so definitely no switching for us for a while. But don't get me started on comcast and their customer disservice. Meh. We've had free HBO for the last two years to make up for them being completely unable to do something simple like port a phone number. Twice. With the same phone number.

Raccoons took out one of my best friends cable setup in Iowa. I laughed my ass off until I visited her once and saw the damage they did to her stairs when they decided to move in for the winter. Apparently they are disgusting little creatures, and quite damaging.

Never had to deal with raccoons, but don't even let me get started on squirrels. They caused massive destruction both to the house, the ductwork, and detroyed a few family heirlooms that were stored in plastic bins they somehow chewed their way into. I hate squirrels more than I can say. Stupid tree rats.

That's unfortunate. I love squirrels to pieces, they are one of the few pieces of natural wildlife left in brooklyn. However, they are quite respectful of the boundary between their world and ours(at least in my experience), and so I have had very few run-ins with them unless they are rabid.
