Seagulls and parrots wheel overhead, squawking and screeching, ducking occassionally and rising with fish scraps or other more unidentifiable things. Before you on the wooden jetties of Sargava's busy port stands Captain Venkalie, she's currently roaring he loudest at the men loading the ship, her height and fair hair betraying some Ulfen heritage, she is a dressed well as a Sargavan ships captain in the old Chelaxian style.

A similiarly clad woman, whos clothes were of far better quality, heavily embroidered at the sleeves approaches up the docks, looking serene amidst all the chaos of the preparation for the Sea Wyvern's disembarkation.

When Captain Venkalie spots her she strides quickly over to where you were asked, or rather told to wait after arriving as promised on the jetty after signing on for the Vaneo Expedition to the Isle of Dread.

'That's the boss lady, look sharp now, you can be scruffy tomb-diggers all you like once your on board,' at this she turns sharply and bows her head to the approaching woman.

She is slim, pale and pretty featured with her starkly black hair tied high away from her face.

'Good evening Gentlemen, my name is Lavinia Vaneo, the primary funder of this expedition. I'm glad to see Captain Venkalie here has assembled such a competent looking group of individuals,' she smiles.

'Why don't you all introduce yourselves?'

Dotting for now. I won't be able to post until later this afternoon.

Male Dwarf Cleric 8

With a formal if somewhat awkward bow Hal salutes Lavinia Vaneo.

"I am honored to meet your acquaintance my Lady. I am Halstadt Morgrym, Champion of Angradd, you may call me Hal for short, all of my friends do".

"Hello, Miss Vaneo. I go by the name of Gerain, but some people also call me Gerain the Huntsman. I guess I got a bit of reputation for enjoying a good hunt. My large hairy friend is my companion ape, Rasputin. Don't worry about him, he;ll be no problem."

Hearing his name, the ape turns and nods toward teh lady, showing a bit of intellect not normal for the species.

Male Human Rogue/7

Marcus lets his pack slide off his shoulder, before walking up to Lavinia. Bowing low, he takes the ladies hand, kissing it lightly.

"Lavinia. . .such a beautiful name. Marcus Dana is my name and I am at your service."

Letting her hand fall, Marcus walks back and joins the others.

If I am doing to much in a post, please let me know

Male Human Wizard (Diviner) 2

A tall young man, dressed in a blue nobleman's cloak, embroidered with a coat of arms depicting a wolf's head in front of two crossed swords in a shield walks nervously towards the group gathered by the quay. He bows his head slightly to the woman, before continuing in a stiff rather formal mode"Greetings Mistress Vaneo, we are well met. I am Sir Percival de Looupe claimant to some lands in the Isle to which we are destined." Behind this facade of authority, his voice has a tremor of doubt and uncertainty, as though it took all his effort to appear as he has. As she responds, he almost appears to want to melt into the background. He moves away and takes a book from his robe, An exploration of geophysical features., opening at a marked page and beginning to read. Every so often, his eyes raise up from the book to take in the surroundings and the people surrounding him, listening in on any conversations.

Male Dwarf Cleric 8

Hal looks at Rasputin trying not to stare. He resists the urge to ask Gerain questions until formal announcements have been completed.

'Excellent to have you all on board gentlemen, there'll be a few other individuals joining you, whether before we launch or from one of the other ships in the very near future.'

'I'm sure we can all talk again soon, right now I really-'

Lavinia's sentence is cut short by a scream of panic fromt he far end of the jetty.

One of the large transporting crates has been broken open and a massive armored reptile newly released is staggering into the crowd, swing a massive hammer-like tail. It smashes a row of crates as the panicked crowd begin to flee in all directions.

You are 100 ft. from the creature, please roll initiative!

Male Human Rogue/7

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Initiative 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

DM, not sure how you want to do initiative for the ape. I figured to just roll once for convenience's sake, and you subtract 4 from my roll for his, if that is acceptable. If not, I will be happy to roll for him as well. Just let me know how you want me to proceed.

Male Gnome Summoner/5

sorry for holding up the game guys, thanks for the patience

"Fantast Retnuh, m'lady, happy to be of service

Fantast sits on the back of a big furry six legged beast, Fantast is a Gnome's gnome. His Bright white hair is pulled into a ponytail and the bottom half of his face is covered by a bandanna tied mask, He wears a Chain mail shirt that shines and even with half his face covered you can tell he has gnomish charm to spare. He is and always has been an obsessive big game hunter. When he heard tale of the beasts that roam the lands this ship is destined to, he couldn't resist.

Under him stands a beast that could almost be a bear, If it didn't look more agile and for the extra set of legs near the upper torso. it's claws look wicked and seem to pop with static and electricity.

at the sound of the crate cracking the pair take off toward it, Fantast pulls a wicked looking adamantine spear out a bag that doesn't look like it should have fit in. with in the moment the pair are already half way there.

Male Human Wizard (Diviner) 2

Init 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

His reactions slowed from reading his book, Sir Percival slowly looks up to see what the noise is all about. A little upset that his concentration had been disturbed.

@Gerian: Either way is fine.

@Fantast: Good to see him up and ready.

I should have made this clear, how I run battles is this; everyone posts up their actions, then I put them all in chronological order and fix any discrepencies once everyone has posted. Then the next round begins. When I ask for initiative, please give your round 1 actions aswell! Sorry!

Gerain moves 30' toward the creature. "You might want to sit this one out, Ras. That tail looks brutal."

At the end of his movement, he casts a spell at the large dinosaur.

Hold Animal. Will DC 14 for the dino.

Male Human Wizard (Diviner) 2

Realizing his mistake in memorizing his collection of town/subterfuge spells, Sir Percival moves away from the beast reciting arcane words and gesturing. As he does this he vanishes from sight.

Casts invisibility on himself, moves away left or right out of the path of the large dino.

Male Dwarf Cleric 8

"Milady is this a creature you wish to preserve or shall we lay it low?" Hal asks Lavinia.

Initiative 1d20 ⇒ 11

If her answer is bring it down I send a Firebolt at it, otherwise I draw my axe and wait to see what direction it heads in and try to encounter it nonlethally.

Ranged Attack Firebolt - 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

Firebolt Damage - 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Male Human Rogue/7

Like a shot Mouse races towards the beast, knocking an arrow on his short bow as he moves.

As soon as he is in range (60ft.), Mouse fires his bow.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
dmg. 1d6 ⇒ 1

Male Human Rogue/7

Do we think this will work its way to being a more than once a day post? Just curious. I check it about 50 times a day.

I hope so, Mouse. I do the same.

Male Human Wizard (Diviner) 2

Is often around twice a day too, but less at weekends

Male Human Rogue/7

This is not looking good, I am afraid.

It will on weekdays, though I'm hectic at the moment because of life, weekdays I'll keep up the post rate as high as you guys do.

ROUND 1
Seeing the beast break free, Lavinia steps back behind the adventurers, as does Captain Venkalie, though she draws her blade. 'This isn't one of mine, stop it from doing too much damage!' she yells in response to Halstadt.
At this Marcus dashes forwards and shoots the creature though the arrow deflects harmlessly off the creaures armor.
Gerain casts a spell and the great lumbering beast suddenly pauses in its tracks, as if paralyzed.
Percival intones his own spell and becomes invisible, his footsteps creaking the jetty as he moves to the side.
Haldstadt launches a firebolt, damaging the creatures side.
The beast seems to sit still for a moment, before breaking free off Gerain's paralytic magic.
Finally Fantast mounts on Grudge travel along the wobbly jetty and around various crates to arrive ten feet from the beast.

Round 2! Sorry for the delay!

Gerain moves as far toward the animal as he can this round. While moving he pulls his magical scimitar and prepares to engage the creature.

Double move should put him roughly 10' from the dino.

Rasputin also begins moving toward the dinosaur, seeing his friend preparing to engage in combat.

Male Human Rogue/7

Marcus runs as close as he thinks is safe...full move should put me around forty feet away...and fires another arrow.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
1d6 ⇒ 2

Male Dwarf Cleric 8

Halstadt nods to Lavinia and fires off another bolt.

Ranged Firebolt - 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Firebolt Damage - 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Male Human Wizard (Diviner) 2

As quietly as possible Sir Percival moves after Gerain, hoping that he can provide some divine insight for Gerain enabling him to make the target easier to hit.

I'm just going to keep things ticking over, Fantast can pick up his actions in Round 3.

Marcus can't full move and shoot, I'm having him move as he didn't quite hit the heavily armored beastie.

ROUND 2
Marcus dashes forward full tilt weaving between crates and along the jetty until he is ten feet from the great beast.
Gerain follows Marcus, heeled closely by his great ape companion.
Percival invisibly trails his charging companions, looking for oppurtunities to aid them.
Haldstadt brings forth Angrad's fiery magic yet again, scorching the creature.
The creature stumps forward and attacks Grudge, swinging it's vast club-tail, it hits the eidolon solidly.
Grudge takes 18 damage and loses is dazed in Round 2, but can act fine next round.
Fantast shouts angrily at the assault on his companion and stabs with his spear, but it deflects off the creatures plates.

If I can move to flank the beast with Grudge, I will do that. Hoping I can, I will add +2 to my attack. If I can't do that, please subtract two from my attack.

Gerains moves into a tactical position and slashes at the beast with his magical weapon.

Scimitar 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

DM, I forgot the Hunter trait, so I get +1 to attack and damage on that recent attack. Thanks.

Seeing his friend trying to bring the dinosaur down, Rasputin also moves forward to attack.

Bite 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Claw One 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Claw Two1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Male Human Wizard (Diviner) 2

Sir Percival follows Geraint again, invisibly and quietly.

Stealth 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 + 20 from being invisible.

I think it'll take a few rounds to get there.

Male Dwarf Cleric 8

Seeing his new companions converging on the creature Hal dahses forward towards the melee. Drawing his axe Hal screams at the beast to try and get its attention.

I believe I can move 80' so I will be 20' away from the creature by the end of my run.

Male Human Rogue/7

Sorry..how far can you move and shoot?

Seeing the damage the creature is causing, Marcus errs on the side of caution and decides to fire another arrow.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Male Gnome Summoner/5

Fatast Starts cursing in Sylvan with such fervor that if you have knowledge of the language and the time to think about it that you might wonder if the Faye didn’t event cursing all together.
Grudge is making an odd noise that very well might be deranged laughing

Fantast strikes again with his spear hoping to make it work a bit more thoroughly, though he has the weapon tucked under one arm and the other on Grudge’s saddle as if at any moment he might be attending a rodeo.
The gnomes grip is apparent as Grudge attacks each of the forward paws reaching forward with a electric pop, the claws attempting to tear at parts that are exposed and unprotected by the shell, both eyes and nostrils take a swipe from the bear like eldion that makes it appear as if it has been long trained for this type of fighting.

Fantasts Spear1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 71d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Grudge's attack

Electric claw 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 242d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 71d4 ⇒ 3

You can take a move action, and a standard action, a move action is 30 feet.

ROUND 3
Marcus fires again, but cannot penetrate the beast's hide.
Gerain and Rasputin flail wildly at the creature too, but only one of Rasputin's blows lands.
Percival moves until he is 40 feet from the melee.
Haldstadt barrels down the jetty knocking crates and cargo flying in his rapid trajectory.
The creature reacts to Rasputin's blow with a swing of it's mighty tail, leaving him battered and stunned. 25 damage and Rasputin is stunned for one round.
Fantast swears an strikes inneffectively with his spear while Grudge lays down a barrage of blows with his electric claws. Leaving the beast damaged and roaring in rage.

@Fantast: I don't think 'Belier's Bite' works with claw attacks, also you forgot to add Grudge's strength. I'm sorry to spring this on you now, but I haven't had a chance to check your character sheets over. I will do so in depth tomorrow night. Please feel free to take another feat, but if it's not core just mention it too me. Thanks.

Male Dwarf Cleric 8

Round 4 action.

Halstadt screams a dwarven battle cry, charges and swings at the huge creature with his greataxe.

Do I get a +2 to attack and -2 to AC for charging the last 20'?

Melee Attack - 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Greataxe Damage - 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Male Human Rogue/7

"Dammit!" Marcus swears as he drops his bow and draws his sword. He watches the beast, looking for the oppurtunity to strike.

Are there any crates stacked higher than the beast close by? If so. . are we talking a dex. check to say. ..jump off of one? :>)

Male Human Wizard (Diviner) 2

The sound of chanting comes from the ether around 40ft away from the monster. At the end of the chanting, an orb of light appears above Gerain. Sir Percival speaks loudly in a strange ancient language "Dranis feodor Gerain"

Casts summon monster 3, a Archon Lantern is summoned above Gerain. Sir Percival asks the lantern to cast aid on Gerain in Draconic. When cast Gerain gets +1 to hit and saves against fear, plus 1d8+1 (or +2) temporary hit points

Gerain and his companion continue to rain blows on the dinosaur.

Scimitar 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Damage 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Rasputin's attacks follow.

Bite 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Possible crit confirmation Bite 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Possible crit confirmation claw 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

I did not add a flank bonus for Rasputin, as I am not quite sure of positioning. Also, I did not add teh aid bonus from the archon, as I assume it will take another round to be summoned, then cast its spell.

Male Gnome Summoner/5

Ack. Sorry about that, I will get it cleaned up, since Beilers doesn't work do you mind if I throw out Improved unarmed as well? I will take a pair of non combat feets. on the upside, leaving out the str, equals out with the BB damage on that last round. Ok, changed it out for Combat reflexes and stand still.

The cursing gnome continues to do so, as those that are watching observe there is honest to goodness hatred on his face and the pair seem to be possessed with a fanatical urgency to have the big beast dead.

Fantast's Spear1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 191d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Grudge's attack

My arm is starting to recover, so posting should become more rapid from now.

Halstadt and Rasputin and Fantast and Grudge are all flanking with Gerain, I'm including the bonus myself.

Marcus, make an Acrobatics check to jump, please describe exactly what you want to do.

Fantast, that's fine, good alternatives.

Male Human Rogue/7

Marcus watches the battle rage for only a heartbeat before racing up a stack of crates, that stand next to the creature, and launching himself through the air towards the beast. He reaches out his arms, hoping to grab onto the animal. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Male Human Rogue/7
Marcus "the Mouse" Dana wrote:

Wasn't sure what I needed, so I didn't finish the leap. I figured you would take it from here.

Marcus, I had you land to the left of the dinosaur, you didn't make it onto it. If you make a 5foot step next turn you''l be beside Gerain and flanking.

I'll carry Rasputin's actions over, notably the crit. But he was stunned for that round.

ROUND 4
Marcus vault's onto some crates and leaps from them but doesn't make the leap and lands beside the large creature.
Gerain's scimitar bites into the creature's side, spraying blood. Meanwhile Rasputin regain's his senses.
A glowing ball of celestial light appears above Gerain, granting him aid with a holy blessing.
Halstadt bravely charges but cannot pierce the beasts plating.
The beast strikes at Gerain in it's panic, but the blow misses slamming into the pier.
Finally Grudge and Fantast barrage the beast, Grudge managing to sneak a blow beneath it's guard with a sparking flash.

Getting there now guys, I know it's a tough nut to crack!

Seeing the creature sway slightly from the combined attacks, Gerain pressed the initiative.

Scimitar 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Damage 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Male Human Rogue/7

Marcus, steadying himself, takes a step forward and swings his sword.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
damage 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Male Dwarf Cleric 8

"This poor beastie just doesn't know when to go down!" Halstadt bellows as he chops down hard attempting to split its plating with his axe.

Melee Attack - Flanking bonus included. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Melee Damage - 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Round 5
Marcus' rapier skitters off the creature, but Gerain press the advantage gouging the creature deeply, Rasputin digs his claw into the wound and the beast goes down, Halstadt mercifully ending the beast's last struggles.

Congrats! 480 XP each!

Cheers rise from the assembled sailors and Lady Vaneo quickly approaches.

Male Human Rogue/7

Marcus sheathes his longsword and walks back to his pack, stopping to pick up his bow first.

Male Dwarf Cleric 8

"Anyone know what the heck this poor creature was? I am sure it was probably more afraid of us than we were of it", states Hal not speaking to anyone in particular.

Hal takes out his wand of Detect Evil and uses to it to see if his assumption about the creature was true. I also want to see if anyone of ill repute is near who may have caused this "accident".
