DM Tanner |
Just to be clear, DM, what does Sunday evening mean? I really want to get a character posted, but I will be out of town until Sunday, and don't want to miss the deadline. Thanks.
If you can only get a concept and short background to me, that's fine. Just give me a brief outline like name, race, class, etc.
DM Tanner |
Hmmm... with 25 point buy I 'might' be able to squeeze out enough stats for a Paladin/Inquisitor. (Especially if could beg my way into playing an Aasimar somehow?)
I have no problems with Aasimar or Tieflings. Your enemies will be very intelligent and ruthless, so no power-gaming will be discouraged. Just nothing silly, okay?

Deal. I'll try to have a bio up sometime tonight.

Inquisitor/Paladin? Ouch, The Inquisitor normally relies on a charisma dump stat :P
I have an... interesting concept to run by you before I stat it up.
Goblin Rogue/Inquisitor of Cayden Cailean. I'd like him to have been found in a dungeon by the other party members as a prisoner, and he ended up travelling with them because he had nowhere else to go.
Disillusioned at first with the hatred people often have for Goblins, he eventually discovered a passion for alcohol, and a growing sense of morality; particularily with regards to freedom. After his experiences, he believes no creatures should ever be slaves to another; and he was eventually taught about Cayden Cailean and was inspired to be like the chaotic good deity who shared so many of his beliefs.
Is that a no-go from the offset? I've got other concepts if your not keen on a Goblin PC. If your cool with this concept i'll flesh it out with more details, just didn't want to do too much yet.

As long as he doesn't talk like the goblins from WoW, I'm fine. If he is smart enough to be an adventurer, he should be smart enough to talk like everyone else. Just a personal peeve.

Intelligence won't be a dump stat. He might be rude and a bit of a drunkard, but hes not stupid :). I'll start statting him up.

The text states that you get a masterwork weapon at normal cost (+1 enhancement bonus) and you are more proficient with the weapon (free weapon proficiency, +1 trait bonus). It's very strong for a trait, because you could pick anything, even an exotic weapon, and you get a +2 to attack. Come to think of it, it's basically Exotic Weapon Proficiency and Weapon Focus rolled into one. Way overpowered.
But hey, I won't bar it.

Sounds fair. If it gets Disintegrated I WILL cry though. But i'll get over it :)

Kk, will work out HP in a second. Heres my submission for your approval.
I've tied him pretty heavily to the party, they rescued him and took him away from the life of slavery under cruel Hobgoblin masters, and they also taught him the skills to be an adventurer.
He has also recently developed an obsession for the Draconic tongue, and the party may be regretting teaching him the Dragon Tongue. One of the few goblin traits he DOES have is an obsession for fire.

I don't believe Tanner's actually picked any characters yet, we're just posting concepts/characters to apply :)
RHOD was one of the best 3.5 module's I've ever seen. I do own it, but I never got to run it and have forgotten loads about it so it won't be a problem.
Edit: I also appear to have lost the book... Lol.
Findor Liamiel |
Findor Liamiel
Male Elf Fighter/Transmuter (Gestalt) 5
NG Medium humanoid (elf)
Init +10; Senses low-light vision, Perception +3
Age 142, Height 6 ft. Weight 124 lbs
Appearance: Findor Liamiel has long silvery white hair and the right side of his face is handsome with regal features. His right eye is a deep violet color. Four long hideous scars mar the left side of his face, savage claw marks that never healed properly. His left eye is covered with a yellow crust implying an infection that was never healed correctly. He wears an ornate elven chain armor of fine silver mesh links with carved crystal forest animal faces, leather breeches, white shirt, and a sturdy purple cloak. At his side hangs an ancient longsword with a flickering crystal set in the pommel. It seems to hum with arcane energy. On his back are a longbow and quiver.
Background: Findor Liamiel is an elf who might have been considered handsome at one point in his life. However as part of his wizard schooling, he suffered a tragic accident when a transmutation presentation went horribly wrong. The left side of his face was clawed savagely by a polymorphed student who panicked in his new form. Although the elf apologized to him and acquired all the healings for him that he could, Findor was scarred for life. Findor was embarassed by his family's response to the incident, his older brothers and sisters, and his stern father, a wealthy merchant, who challenged the event as an intentional act of brutality. Although the elven court mostly ignored these statements at Findor's request, the family of the unfortunate "attacker" never recovered their status.
Findor was weapon training when the first assassination attack came. If it had not been for his quick reflexes, he likely would have been killed by the stray arrow that flew directly at his head. His family again grew concerned over his near misfortune, but Findor wondered if it had been a true accident or if the family his had embarassed and weakened were seeking their revenge. He did not stay to find out.
Findor left Kyonin for the Verduran Forest, seeking a chance to commune with wild nature once again and seek out the magical knowledge of the fey that hid there. Mostly he wanted to escape from the dangers of Kyonin, such as they were.

I have completely updated Basil.
I will post his background here, but the rest is available via the character page.
However, his talents as a tracker and as a foe of goblin-kind are widely recognised, meaning that he is at the very least respected wherever he goes; he has even participated in a number of 'search parties' when people have become lost in the forest.
Nonetheless, Basil has a dark secret: Although he appears human, he is in fact a half-orc. His mother came from an isolated homestead family in another region, and was raped by an orcish raider who was part of a war-party that attacked the farm.
Despite his human-like appearance, his grandfather and the other frontier families in the area treated him harshly, never letting him forget his origin. Generally, he found it easier to relate to the birds and beasts of the forest, and spent as much time as possible working as far away from other humanoids as possible. In particular, he developed an affinity for the swift, silent lynxes which inhabited the more mountainous regions of the forest.
Consequently, when he came of age, he left home, seeking somewhere where people did not know him, and would judge him on his appearance and actions, rather than on his origin.
However, he is still terrified that someone will learn his secret, denouncing him to the world at large...

At age 7, as with all Bronding children, he was fostered out to learn a trade. In Caelin’s case this was to Rothgar, his mother’s brother. Rothgar was a warrior and he trained young Caelin in the ways of battle.
There was little doubt that Caelin would become a warrior – he was a strong but not a very charming child, with only barely above average of the mental spark compared with his brothers and sisters. 4th in line, there was no way he would inherit property and he had no flare for craft (except for brewing mead). Caelin liked to hit things and physical competitions so a warrior he became.
Caelin was well liked amongst the clan. He had a sense of fun, a willingness to do almost anything, and he delighted in eating and drinking all kinds of things. Where ever mead flowed and meat was roasting, there was Cælin, looking for a story to hear (for he had no talent in that regard) or a woman to fondle (he wasn’t the most charming but he still was good looking). His like of drink and his strength meant that Cælin could find himself in trouble, as he was easily led, but so far nothing to untoward has happened.
When he came of age he inherited his uncle’s formidable sword named Reuze Klap, a silver and ivory amulet heirloom from his mother for protection and was given a scale armor by the Eorlderman. These are his most treasured possessions and he keeps them in immaculate condition. After learning the rites of his clan to become a proper warrior he has decided to leave his people to gather great renown for himself and some day come back to bring glory to his clan.
Description: Long, thick, blond hair, usually held back and a well kept beard. Light green eyes, and white skin, robust build with defined musculature. Wears an amulet of Ivory and Silver.

Would like to try my hand here. Sounds very interesting.
Concept: Human monk with anger management issues (barbarian). Will flesh out and post.
Edit: Damnit! Blasted alignment issue!
Scratch the monk/barbarian...
Ha, wondered when someone would try that! Happens in every Gestalt recruitment thread don't worry ;)

If there is still time/room for submission, I'd like to submit a Half-Orc Fighter/Monk.
Gruune
A monastery foundling who grew bored with life in the temple, he left one night to see what lay beyond the temple walls. It wasn't as hard as he had thought it would be, and soon became a soldier as a way to truly test himself. By the next ear however, his commanding officer ordered Gruune to kill a man for hiding his brother, a criminal of little reknown. Gruune's response was to knock out his commander and let the man go, which resulted in his "leaving" the army.
