So I've been playing with the artificier idea. Evil spiderman seems really fun at first until you realize a lot of the spidey powers are built into some magic items. Artificier web spinners to do ranged grapple/bull rushes would be incredible fun however. I thought to myself who's the coolest artificier. It's obviously Tony Stark. This would have to have some house rule leniency obviously, but I'm thinking he would start out as a human with skil focus:use magic device and exotic armor proficiency:ironman suit. Using weird science to upgrade the suit.
Potential weird science inventions shield could be a must for survivability. Levitate and eventually fly. Lightning bolts from the hands and chest plates. Some scorching ray shoulder cannons possibly fireballs(missiles)
I'm thinking the armor itself would provide gauntlet type damage possibly with some cool upgrades like shocking grasp.
I am looking for useful and fun flavorful ideas. Please add to them.

I think you'd have to have a special suit of armor that also used up all your other magic item slots, then have the suit of arm upgradeable so you can add belts of Str, Boots of flying, gauntlets of lightning, helm of vision (see invis, darkvisision, lowlight vision, blindsense, blindsight, trueseeing, see in magical darkness, etc.), cloak of resistance, rings of energy resistance, etc. etc.

Fun concept. Basically building a character around magical full plate.
Eventually, you could add some sort of shrink item type permanent enchantment to the armor, so your character can walk around in normal clothes, but put the suit on in an instant.
Remember how Tony in the latest movie kept a spare suit in a suitcase (actually, it was the suitcase), and he could strap it on in a moment's notice? Maybe the D&D equivalent would be to have a magic amulet that transforms into the suit.

You'd have to make the suit an intelligent magic item as well! Arcane Sight/true seeing/darkvision some sort of visual buff spell effects.
Excellent Idea's all. I was thinking of eventually building in a special haversack that displays scrolls/injects potions into the suit's wearer. Still takes the move action to retrieve and standard to cast/use but is pretty flavorful. Darkvision on the helmet is a definate must(build in goggles of the night?)

Various spells like Status and Detect x could emulate the various sensors he has in the armor. Some form of Message ability to stand in for communications.
If you want to get technical with it, the repulsors in the hands and chest would be more force like (Force Missiles from the Spell Compendium maybe), but I can certainly see lightning being a good fantasy type stand in.
According to the wiki it also has freezing and holographic abilities.

I played in the Age of Worms adventure path and the group concept was to come up with characters that resembled comic book heros (and villians) with the 3.5 DnD rulebooks.
I had originally thought of how to emulate Iron Man, but it was very hard at first level.
I played a Shield-bashing paladin called Hawk (Capt. America)
There was a Warlock (Havok), Mineral Warrior, (Grimm), a Fire genasi wizard, (Pyro) a Drow sorcerer specilizing in elemental spells (Storm) a goliath cleric with Iron Body, (Colossus) and so on and so forth.
Look up on EnWorlds story hour, Jollydocs Age of Worms. Great fun to play and a great read.

Eventually, you could add some sort of shrink item type permanent enchantment to the armor, so your character can walk around in normal clothes, but put the suit on in an instant.
One could create a ring that functions like the Flash's ring. In the ring is a tiny secret chest, made permanent and always accessible. Then the wearer has two command words. One that causes the armor to leave the ring, grow tofull size, and don itself. The other causes the armor to undon itself, shrink and reneter the ring. One can use the called armor or weapon special ability from 3.5 to have the armor don and undon itself.
Requird spells:
secret chest
permanency
shrink item
instant summons
Then you can alter/unpgrade the armor as you go along.
