I am just completely tired of all the political threads. Frankly these threads while discussing somewhat interesting topics have devolved most of the time into passive aggressive snark fests, poorly veiled insults of other members, and just plain outright personal attacks. Frankly 90% of the political propaganda thrown out on these threads are just meant to upset someone else. I don't care if your a Republican, I don't care if your a democrat, I don't care what you think of George Bush, or Barack Obama THIS IS AN RPG SITE. Frankly there are better places to discuss political news and better forums set up to moderate them. I'm pretty sure by this point we have made Mr Teter, others tear their hair out in frustration. If you want to start political threads just attack people I suggest you go onto any major news network site or forum and have at it and just let this be the nice community it was.

I don't think you're giving enough credit to this community, but feel free to post alternate political boards. If you think we are not adult enough to talk policy here then woe betide the rest of the world.

I think this community is way smarter than average, but heaven help us all if we can't fight fairly.

3E is better than 4E.
Yes, 3e is better, but really the problem is how bad 4e sucks. it's not even fare to compare the two. one is made with intelligence, with an attempt to make 2e, which i loved, an attempt to make 2e follow a logic of some sort. and the other is a way to sell books to idiots.
Suck it 4E.
their, now we are on level with all the political boards.

It seems there is still a large portion of people still wounded by the event. I can understand the sense of personal investment. On the other hand, I think there are events far more deserving of outrage.
Like Obama not knowing the difference between memorial day and veteran's day. I mean, come on!

Seriously: I feel very different. I largely avoid the gaming threads because of the edition warriors who just can't let it go. I suggest you do the same for the political threads if you find them too contentious.
As for letting this be the "nice community that it was?" I think the "good old days" fallacy gets enough play in the political threads as it is.

Bah! In my day, we used to have to rename winsock.dll to get on the Web. We used to log onto local BBSes with text-only interfaces and command lines... and we did it at 2400 baud... both ways, in the snow! You youngsters!

The more I experience the world, the more I'm finding I'd simply rather not know.
I think the "good old days" is less a desire for a never-existent world where these problems didn't exist and rather a desire to go back to where we didn't know about them. And boy do I sympathize. The world has become too small, for lack of a better term; too easy to know or think we know everything that's going on. There's many days where I simply wish to be able to go back to not knowing anything about the world beyond the borders of my hometown except for the occasional snippet about some celebrity, the President, or other tidbit one might catch over the news before changing the channel.
We - or I, at least - didn't know what was happening in the next state much less in a country halfway across the world, and there's more than once that I've thought we were better off that way. There is such a thing as knowing too much.

Sadly, I remember with delight the upgrade from 300 to 1200 baud. And not as a child. *sigh*

The benefits of being in a musical street gang include improved pitch, sunshine, exercise, and switch blade proficiency... not that I have any of those despite my lack of having the internet growing up.

Not in line mode it didn't! 300 wasn't bad, but 1200 flew!!

It is a sad state for any subject matter, when issues can only be black and white, and there is no room to arrive at some type of consensus. Political points or otherwise put aside, we do have a lot in common, if we don't get mixed up in all the clutter, or let our egos get in the way, or jump off the cliff like a bunch of lemmings.

Huge pet peeve. If you're going to try and make yourself appear more "intelligent" in a post -- even going as far as to say it -- and can't complete a coherent sentence, it ends up having the opposite effect. I can even attribute his lack of using the 'shift' key to laziness (or maybe it's broken), but it took me a minute to figure out what the "cost of conveyance or passage" had to do with what he was talking about.
And "sarcastic"? You have no idea how much I have to force myself not to comment on some things. In the past, I've been downright nasty. Sebastian is tame by comparison.
