Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just because she is his daughter doesn't mean she has the same politics.

It made CBS News at 11.

She asked:
"Why do, basically, people with money have good health care, and why do people that live on lower salaries not have good health care?" Bush asked in an interview that aired yesterday on Fox News Sunday. "Health should be a right for everyone."

Answer: Money

Why am I not surprised that she isn't very bright?

Who. Cares.

Just because she’s related so someone famous doesn’t mean her opinion matters.

We could have said the same thing about George W 20 or 30 years ago. ;)

given the dynastic nature of american politics, you may be speaking about the future President Barabara Bush. ;)

It's tempting to reduce those who believe differently than you do to caricatures. I get it. Hell, I've done on numerous occasions to members of the very same family.

But she obviously wasn't saying she didn't understand the practical reason why things are as they are, but rather:Is the current situation just? Which to me is a very reasonable question. But then again, perhaps I'm just "not very bright."

You all need to be wary for Barbara Bush is one of THEM. She is the progeny of George W. Bush, who is the Progeny of George H W Bush. They have come to subvert and control our society. They will eat and destroy it from the inside. Many powerful families are like the Bush's and not as they appear. I even offer proof this picture shows just how inhuman the Bush's really are. Be afraid and wary. Do not bring attention to yourself because THEY are always watching, try and find a copy of David Icke's book. But don't purchase it at a major bookstore with a upc scanner, because they track all purchases, and if you must go to a place with a upc scanner only pay with cash and wear a ballcap and shades trying to obscure your image from any video camera. If you must sate your curiousity be safe about it. THEY are always watching..... ALWAYS WATCHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think I label everyone who holds positions that are different than mine as not very bright. My specific political position (minarcist) is part of a very small minority these days, so that would imply I hold the vast majority of people in rather low esteem for having positions divergent from my own. I don't have a very good impression of most of humanity, but I don't think that's a direct result of their politics.

That said, I know I struggle at times with really understanding other folks positions and not reducing them to caricature in my head.

Assuming her question is entirely rhetorical it still strikes me as just plain dumb. It's simply not thought out to its logical conclusion.

I also think, like most people, she has little idea of what Obama Care will actually do, and I'm doubtless influenced by my distaste for her family.

Well, that does make things simpler. I couldn't stand a dumb girl even if she is awesomely beautiful; I need some brains behind the looks. You can have her. :P

Wasn't there a recent study done on children in another country, in which it was demonstrated young people tend to start out socialist, but as they got older they moved toward capitalism ?? (runs memory checks)

We may simply be seeing the idealized world view of a young person. After a few years working in the real world this will change.

Unfortunately, we didn't. if we had, we could have later said 'I told you', though.

I agree, it isn't truly important, except for one thing: Kids usually follow their parents on political views, because they get one-sided stories. So maybe she's just being rebellious, but if she disagrees it is telling.
Of course, Laura Bush apparently holds some liberal values, so that could account for it.

Yeah, that one caught me by surprise too. I assumed it was some alternate, nonpolitical definition that I'd never heard of before.

I seem to recall that, too. Then again, there are any number of people who smugly run around like Hitler Youth when they're younger, only to mellow out into a more liberal adulthood. For the most part, I think kids gravitate towards a simplistic "all-or-nothing" extreme view; as they gain experience and actually think things through, they come to realize that life maybe isn't quite so black and white.

Regression to the mean: it's not just for biology anymore!

True, but for the most part it’s not their fault. It’s the fault of the media, and every person out there who picks up a people magazine. If people stopped following the personal lives of celebrities then maybe their opinions would become less newsworthy.

I have become more libertarian in my old age. I'm not sure if that makes me more radical/ideological or less.

I could say something snarky but I won't.

The actor who later became govenor and then president had more right to have a political opinion than say brittany spears commenting on world affairs or bono trying to influence financial matters because he can sing.
If they wish to enter into the political arena thats fine, what the heck sonny of sonny and cher did, even the guy that played cooter from the dukes of hazzard became a senator. I can understand useing your fame to get yourself noticed and help get yourself elected but the ones I dislike are the linsdy lohans taht think because they are a celebrity that somehow makes them a better political mind and influence MY vote simply because "they" said so.

Are you sure you don't mean "No more right to a political opinion"? The sentence flows smoother that way.

Mona makes a point. Also, Lindsay Lohan didn't buy her celebrity or

get it for offering promises to a super PAC in return for cash.

It was handed to her, for no other reason than her high Charisma stat.

So, it is not out of line for her to use it however she wants to.

Just like George Clooney and Rush Limbough.

.

I just had a baby and the Doctors, Nurses, staff told me that if I was on Public aid EVERYTHING would have been paid for 100%. EVERYTHING!

While the working stiffs who pay for health care premiums like me get screwed, people who supposedly have less money than me pay ZERO for the same health care.

So I don't believe that more money = better health care.
