Sales tax on order #1443183 Pathfinder adventure path

Customer Service

Hi there.

I notice that you have added something called "sales tax" on order #1443183 which is the next shipment in the adventure path.

Since this is shipping to a UK address and we are not (yet!) part of your country, this would seem to be an error. (This didn't get added previously either, by the way).

No taxation without representation and all that, guys.... ;-))

Well that's odd!

I will investigate.

I just noticed this on my (domestic) order too; it's never been there before, so I'm curious why it's suddenly appearing now.

Yea, it is on my USA order (New York) also and it has never been there before.

Thanks for checking this out Gary,

Edit: To add to the strangeness My Account/Order History is correct (no sales tax). Only the email is incorrect.

I imagine this is an unforeseen side effect of allowing subscription pickup at PaizoCon. Since sales tax would be applied to those transactions, it seems like it's carried over to shipped subscriptions as well.

Edit: That being said, I don't see my order in my order history, nor have I received an email. I assume this means it just hasn't been generated yet.

Same here, the email lists $8.60 sales tax, but in my account there's no trace of it.

Okay, that'd explain the confusion; hopefully Gary will chime in saying that that's what happened.

Likewise, I checked my order history, and the sales tax isn't part of the cost there either.

Close. We are actually setting up our future infrastructure for the next phase of Paizo's Master Plan, and Washington State eventually annexes the rest of the world.

It is not yet time for that, though... so we'll have this taken care of soon.

Thanks,

OK, this was a temporary bug that affected a small number of subscription orders for products which could be picked up at PaizoCon. For the affected orders, the confirmation email does in fact erroneously list an amount for sales tax, and if you check with your bank you may see that the total authorized for this order includes this amount. However, when we charge your card and ship your products next week the total will not include sales tax. (Unless you really are going to pick up at PaizoCon...)
