Way to go Pipp. Would you like to lead or shall I? -- assuming it is a trail that I can follow.

The trail should be easy enough for even a novice tracker to follow, a marching order would be nice so I know who gets ki.... er who's up front. ;)

"Certainly, Miss BlackHair. Let us step lively behind our brave bard as he leads the way down our chosen path. Perhaps he will regale us with an appropriate tune as we wend our way? Or should we begin skulking?"
Yeah, I picked up on the new avvy. This one definitely has a higher comeliness. ;)

"Well, I imaginge we could try to skulk around, but" looking over at Jyg'g, Baz, and Malfleur, "I don't think it will be fruitful."
She gazes at the finely well built bard, "I believe he can handle whatever decides to accost him, either with his talk, or his blade, he he."
Yep, def one of the hotter avvy's out there, he he

Yes the path is wide enough in most places for two to walk side by side.

So perhaps the paladin falls in with the overly confident bard, and the cleric walks behind the paladin and the sorcerer walks behind the bard.

Hmmm. Ok people. This gives me an idea. I'm having serious doubts that with myself (the walking tank), the one-man-band, and the lovebirds, that we'd be able to sneak up on anyone -- let alone our quarry. How about if Maulfeuer and Skia follow the trail about 50 yards off the trail to hopefully catch any would-be ambushers?
Skia, Disciple of Hekate |
Skia looks at the Paladin, surprised that he could come up with a working plan. "That plan is acceptable to me. I will scout to the left if the strange one wishes to take the right."
She move off the path to the left, blending in with the shadows there and disappearing.

Cranes neck all about, checking the treetops and low-lying branches.
I think I see what Baz is saying, though I'll be blasted if I can see any lovebirds. If we're already in the danger zone, we should quiet down. And if we're sending Skia and Malfeuer ahead, we should slow down to give them a chance to reconnoiter.
Aevelyn BlackHair |
Aevelyn snickers quietly at Baz's comment, "I think the goody two shoes is calling us lovebirds, simply because I feel safe in your arms." She pulls him close , and snuggles close to him. "You will protect me, right?"

Oh...ah...ahem. Of course, I'll protect you. But my superiors in the priesthood of Hermes have a saying they teach us in our training: Never raise your herm in your hometown, but only at the roadside. Have you ever heard that saying?
Baz, very well, let us hear Pipp's new song. Perhaps it is lay of war or a chanson of ancient days?

"Why, no, I don't believe I heard of that before." She bats her eyelashes at him, "Could you show me more about that philosophy. I think that is so neat."

As you travel through the ancient woods, the sun peaking through the canopy only on occasion, you find the path easy to follow. It's hard not to want to just sing and play in such a lovely environ... in fact the urge to do so is almost overwhelming as the sound of pipes drifts towards your ears. The song is lively and upbeat, promising a grand time to be had if only you will join the Satyrs and Dryads that have wandered onto the path.
Sorry guys, it's time for some Will Saves, add in any bonuses you have against Enchantment effects.

God of Thieves! I did not expect an opportunity to demonstrate so soon!
Calls to the dryads in Sylvan: Well met, fair ladies of the wild wood. I am Hieron, your humble servant, and these my companions mean you no harm! Bows from the waist as soon as he catches sight of the dryads, while never taking his eyes off of them.
Aevelyn BlackHair |
Aevelyn hears the tune and is taken back to one of her earlier 'performances'. Oh how much she enjoyed it!

Aevelyn, Baz, and Skia Failed their saves, they are compelled to strip away abandon and join the festivities, the rest of you may act normally.....whatever that is for this adventure. ;)
The newly arrived troupe of fey revelers laugh and giggle at the new additions, while a larger than normal Satyr steps towards the remaining three travelers. "Well met travelers!"He greets you in sylvan, seeming to become overjoyed at Heiron's mastery of the tongue,"I am Whitecrest, and those who follow Lord Hermes are always welcome to me and mine! But I must ask, what brings you here if not to give in to wild abandon?". The dryads giggle in unison and move forward to offer strong fey wines for you to enjoy.
Hieron Dreimalgroßen |
Continuing in Sylvan:
"Well met indeed, people of the wild! Whitecrest, I thank you for your greetings! Well did my Lord deliver yours from destruction in his youth, to be incubated in the thigh of Zeus after his mother's unfortunate demise at jealous hands. It seems some of our party have already given in. And while I fain would join them, we are hear on business with the The Three Little Werepigs. Can you give us news of them? Perhaps if we can learn more, we can determine whether it is best if we join you now or later.

Whitecrest shudders at the very mention of the three diminutive porcine purveyors of pandemonium. "Egads man! Hast thou lost all reason!? Nay, I see a determination in thine eyes, but no madness brought this zeal. What reward I ponder could have spurred you to take up such a venture? But matter not why, I can indeed offer you aid for their current domain is known to Whitecrest. Let me mark upon thine map, so with more haste can thee enjoy the ambrosia that is the Dryads sweet kiss, and taste of the honey of their loins whilst you sup upon a Satyr feast."
Whitecrest adds the location of the third little pigs House of Bricks and Bones to your map.
However caution in the extreme I would beg of thee to use, for the path to their dome will bring you into contact with McLovin a vile Webtroll who craves eggwhites. Seek us when your bloody business is done, then shall we revel as I have promised."
Don't worry too much, what reveling the three enchanted heroes did partake of wasn't more than PG.....13. ;)
Hieron Dreimalgroßen |
"Very good, Whitecrest -- your aid is handsome and will be repaid in revels. Surely with this intelligence, we may speed our way. We shall see you and your dames when this bloody business is done, unless the Fates interfere, that I may taste of their delights.
"Comrades, let us prepare for dealing with this troll. For my souls hates the very thought of trolls, and this McLovin McBreakfast fellow sounds like a bastard ripe for the axe and torch!"
Rummages through his backpack for his steel and flint.
Hieron Dreimalgroßen |
"You meet such interesting people when you are an adventurer!"
Pipp, that could be a song! You could call it, "Well Met in the Woods" or "Well Met in the Wilds" or something like that.
Does everybody have a torch or a vial of oil or something? What about protection from fire? How are we going to tackle this troll? If we had eggs, could we lay a trap for it?
Hieron Dreimalgroßen |
Transferring his flint and steel to his small pouch, Hieron resumes his pack, and takes one last look at the map with Baz.
Well, if we have our bearings, let us make for house and be wary of the troll! Why is everyone being so quiet? The little deviant is right at least in his impatience to go, if not in his impatience with planning. Onward!
He picks up some of Aevelyn's dropped "things" and hands them back to her.
Aevelyn BlackHair |
Aevelyn gathers up her 'things' which the gracious Hieron provided to her, including all of the unmentionables, and then proceeds to equip herself, after finding an appropriate bush to hide behind.

Survival to track

Fawtly DM wrote:Survival to trackAlthough, I'm not sure how much "tracking" we are really going to be doing. I mean, it's (in theory) an obvious trail, and we now have a map.
The trail is indeed very easy to follow, the pigs obviously make there way along it often.
As you travel through the woods for what seems to be only a couple more hours you become aware of a change, subtle at first but become more and more obvious. The forest seems to become less lively, the birds stop singing, leaves seem to hang sullenly from their branches, and the smell of feces hangs thick in the air. According to Whitecrest's markings you must be nearing the lair of Mclovin the WebTroll!

It would seem that Jyg'g wishes to track the egg sucker down and deal with it head on.
The strange little orcling readily finds McLovins tracks. Judging by the prints left he's a scrawny thing, and leans to left as he walks. There also seems to be a dribble of fecal matter as he travels along.
