The Post-Monster

Website Feedback

It may just be my imagination, but it seems the messageboards are dropping more posts than they historically have. I suppose much of that is likely server load, but isn't there a way to insert a command line so that the post gets updated, even if not in a timely manner?

Can we get some adventurous IT's to form a party and slay the dreaded Post-Monster?

This is a known problem that I think I know how to fix but simply haven't had the time since it involves some semi-major changes to our messageboards code. It's also worse when we're rolling out new code to the site as we just did over the past half hour, for which I apologize. Normally I try to make the new-code-rolling process as smooth as possible but I had a 2 p.m. deadline and had to rush it a bit.

This problem is addressable by users by installing the Firefox plug-in: Lazarus
which auto-saves text entry forms every 5 seconds or so, so you can recover any text 'eaten' by the boards.

A common mistake: The Postmonster is the guy who fixes these problems. The Messageboard Bug is the guy responsible for this.
Or we could blame Sebastian.

So, you're saying that I'm responsible for everything. Kind of like being a god, or something. Cool! I glad you can finally admit how awesome I am.

Which would probably fix the weirdness I see sometimes due to the fact that I browse in multiple tabs, and sometimes it gets confused about whether post A goes in tab B :)

Or getting into the habit of writing "long-winded" posts on a word processor program like MS Word and the like...

I usually try to copy my posts before I submit them, but there's the occasional slip up. I just installed that Lazarus add-on though!

Of course it's always that one time you don't that the Post Monster gets you ...

Indeed...

As for the "Select All/Copy" thing, personally, I like using a word possessor because "Spell Check" is one of my best friends ;-P

YMMV...
