Cleric help request!

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Ok, so I am starting Kingmaker with some friends and I will be playing a evil cleric of Norgorber with the Death domain mainly to raise an undead army and commence with the evil laughter. I suck at stat distribution. So if you guys wouldn't mind lending me a hand. 20 point buy. Go. Thank you in advance!

Well as a necromancer Strength can probably be a dump stat (you have undead to do your lifting!) I don't know if I'd make it a full dump stat depending on how many touch spells you're gonna be using, but Weapon Finesse can help that.

Wisdom should be as high as you can get it. Make it a 18 if you can, if not a 16. Then Charisma needs to be up there as well (16 or a 15) to increase your save DC for turning. In fact, you make want to make a Bones Oracle instead of a dark cleric since Cha is their primary spellcasting stat.

Dex Con and Int should be at least a 12. If you're going to be making a good deal of touch attacks, make it a 14. So here's a preliminary build:

7 Str (-4) 12 Dex (2) 12 Con (2) 12 Int (2) 17 Wis (13) 14 Cha (5)

There are probably better point builds, but put your first ability bump into Wis and try to get a headband of Cha as soon as possible.

STR 3 for 13

DEX 0 for 10
CON 0 for 10
INT 0 for 10
WIS 7 for 15
CHA 10 for 16, +2 racial for 18

First level feat, selective channeling so later on you can use a phylactery of negative channeling to explode everyone around you while keeping your pals safe.

SO you can play evil! Wow, does it work in the campaign.

Domains: Death (for obvious reasons) Trickery, some nice class skills and give some tactical abilities. And the ability to lie effective.

Race: Human.
Favered Class bonus: Skill point.

STR 11
DEX 10
CON 12
INT 10
WIS 15 (You need to boost this all times you can)
CHA 18 (+2 human) you need this for maximum amount of channal and
save dc.

Feats:
level 1 Selective channel (you want to exclude your allies!) and command undead. (always awsome).
level 3 Improved channel (To higer the DC)
level 5 Towershield prof. (compansating for low dex)

There afeter, what you want: metamagic, Heavy armor or extra turning. Meybe item creation (woundrous items and weapons and armor)
You can change the level 3 and 5 feat if you like.
Take the towershield for tremendous AC.

Skills. you have in total 4 skill points per level.
Advice: Religion, Bluff(so you can lie) , Stealth (you have a chance of being sneaky and thats needed for a decent evil character, Diplomacy. (for situations when fight and lie is not an option)
You need the str of 11 for holding your towershield.

One note:
this is designed for optimizing your negative channel. Adjust this as you wish for rpg purposes or things you want.

Hope you can use this.

Yes, the guy DMing it for us has read and according to him it doesn't really matter for the purposes of story if you're evil or not.

This is all helpful thanks! Keep it coming.

The tower shield is a bad idea. You can't cast spells while wielding one. Combat Casting is a far better choice because as a Cleric you will be casting in combat a lot.

Why can't you cast a spell with a towershield?

Combat casting is still a very good feat!

Playing evil may be possible according to your GM…. but it will be more challenging to him. Most quests in the campaign, as in any Adventure Path are more appropriate for somewhat good types, compared to evil ones. Also James Jacobs did mention that the Kingdom system isn’t really made with tyrants in mind……

Still if you play a wise and intelligent evil character, you will still realize that helping people might work out best for the stability, profitability and power of your realm, so it might work out after all.

Is true, but his GM said clearly OK. But how are you helping him right now?

Because you need a least one hand free for the Somatic component. You can do that with bucklers and light shields, but not with heavy ones and moreso tower shields.

Gorbacz, You are right, i found the part.
