Hi,
just a few thoughts. (Keep in mind i've been playing dragonage alot recently) and i've noted how well (note i mean versatile and balanced)
the talents work in the game. Shield bashes, stunning hits etc.
It got me thinking about what options Pathfinder currently has for melee special attacks and they're usefulness, plus i'd like to know if anyone's got any ideas they'd like updated or introduced.
Currently there is of course:
Bullrushing
Tripping
Disarming
Overrun
On thy're own they are ok (usually done as a standard action attack replacement)
Then there's the critical feats which can lay on some nasty status effects and require no activation method (Great when they work but strongly slanted towards high crit range weapons)
One great option for TWF's is the shieldbash/shield mastery feats which can lay a bullrush as part of the attack roll (Complete Warrior had similar feats which worked with certain paired weapons. One could get free trip when usiing a blade and axe for example)These are quite feat intensive though.
Dazzling Display/Shatter Defenses is a powerful combo that acts as a enemy debuff (either singularly or for a group)Conrugan smash lets you do it as a free action when striking. Feat intensive but great for Half-orc, half-elf rouges and fighters
then, of course there is the cleave feats and whirlwind (both work well with lunge btw)
how much value do we put on these 'special' attacks?
do we need more?

Don't forget Sunder...
And most of the CM aren't a standard action but can replace a normal attack so you can multiple trip in a round with the normal muliple attack mods but applied to the CMB.
I think it encourages team work (one tripping, the other bashing Mr Prone Guy).
Sunder really puts a dent in anyone not having a back up weapon.
Bull Rush...great near cliff edges.

Reach weapon + Combat reflexes + AoO as trip attacks = win
I am sure this will make my Dm angry and jam us into 5' dungeon crawl holes.
In my current game i am a rogue and my pally friend is going to get improved feint so i can drop the hammer more often with my twf short swords.
Our party is Rogue, Pally, Sorceror, Cleric (cleric is a casting variant so no heavy armour and low BAB) so the pally doesnt mind burning a feat for improved feint so we can drop mobs faster, its usually the two of us in melee. He already has stupid stats to begin with though so optimization isnt needed as much.(18,18,17,16,14,14). Damn WOTC dice roller
