What's the best way to spend 1000gp in PFS? Go buy a combat trained pet Elephant from the Adventurer's Armory!
I'm really tempted to resurrect my Tarzan-like Halfling Cavalier who used an elephant mount before they rewrote the Cavalier to just have a dull list of standard mounts.
Now I could just ditch the mount and ride around on a full bodied, huge size CR 7 elephant. Sure the huge size would preclude its use in many situations, but when you could use it you'd be able to wade into combat with a 10' reach, improved bull rush, 2d8+10 slamming elephant!
True, it's ridiculous, but that's what makes it special. Being able to plop down a huge size creature on the game mat at 2nd level, and have casual PFS players turn to you and say, "my god, how can you do that?" is when the the real magic of the game begins ;)
[Note the ";)" which signifies a wink at nuanced layers of meaning beyond those conveyed at the surface.]

can you make it a Dire Elephant? That would be even cooler!
But you know the one biggest flaw with the idea? All the bad guys will have a little bag with a mouse in it... You sill look silly trying to gain control of the elephant while being chased by a little bitty mouse!
You know what! I want to do that now! lol

actually they have proven that elephants are scared of small creatures like mice. They don't pounce on them they run from them. Not sure why that is but it is a fact that elephants don't like small creatures like mice.
It's because fail a Perception check and they slip on those little buggers like banana skins - you don't wanna be at the bottom of a flight of stairs when this happens - bull-rush on the way down doing 2d8+10 slam damage to everything within 10' reach .. ugly!

Yep, it is because something small and fast moving like that spooks them. A couple of weeks ago a small circus/carnival was in town where I live and one of the elephants got spooked when a rabbit popped out of the brush near an elephant. The elephant spooked and ran away from the fair grounds, blindly running for a couple hundred yards before going over the edge of a hill/cliff and tumbling down about 30 feet. Luckily, it was not hurt much, but that proves even trained circus elephants will still spook at sudden movements from small creatures. Imagine that was you on your elephant and you ended up underneath the elephant at the bottom of a hill or cliff.

I was almost killed by a runaway elephant years ago leading a parade doing a Ren. Fair. Never saw it coming, but felt the wind as it brushed by. That elephant would go on to kill a trainer after it was sold to Busch Gardens Tampa.
Don't see much reason for using elephants for entertainment anymore.

Problem.
And the problem means in 2.3 I will scratch the elephant from the legally allowed list.
Yes, the listed price for an elephant is 1,000 gp. The price is balanced in a home game by the fact that an elephant's "upkeep is exorbitant, so only the wealthiest Inner Sea citizens can afford to house one."
A fully-grown elephant consumes around 600 lbs of food every day and spends up to 16 hours of that day eating. Those costs start to add up. And since we don't worry about upkeep and the like in the Society the cost of maintenance balancing factor flies out the window.
Thus: no elephants. This is effective immediately, I'll post it in the 2.2 sticky thread, and it will be included in the 2.3 document.
