Keen is a waste of an enchantment for a Fighter.

I rather take the Falchion and get a 15-20/x3 weapon. All your damage is in your bonus anyway so the downgrade to d4s from d6s is more than made up for by the increased crit range.

+5 Thundering Speed Adamantine Falchion (with Improved Crit [Falchion]) > +5 Keen Speed Adamantine Greatsword

I can understand the draw of the falchion, but why the thundering property? It's awful! It only does extra damage on a crit, and the deaf DC is so low no one will ever fail against it at any level in which you can afford it.

1) I am replacing a +1 ability with a +1 ability

2) Thundering is the only +1 ability that provides a bonus on a crit. I suppose I could replace it with shock or something but Thundering is untyped and we are going for crits.

If you wanted more armor, replace Keen with Defending instead.

Pssst, Thundering is sonic.

If the highest damage output is desired and we can count on a steady healing/temporary hit point sources I think that vicious would be the best - 2d6 on each hit at the cost of 1d6 to oneself will be better than 2d8 with 30% chance on each hit. If healing/temporary hit points could be problematic I think that still 1d6 energy on each hit would be a tiny bit better than 2d8 sonic with 30% chance of occuring on each hit.
If a certain type of opponents will be dominating campaign finish then bane is way to go (or ghost touch if incorporeal will be common).

Sonic, untyped, close enough really.

You can use combat expertise AND fighting defensively at the same time????

WOW! THAT'S different from 3.5, and VERY nice I might add.

Is it? It's VERY different from Star Wars Saga (which never let you attack short of AoO's, even when only fighting defensively), but I don't recall this being any different in D&D v3.5.

Keep in mind that in Pathfinder you CAN stack fighting defensively and Combat Expertise, but you canNOT stack full defense and Combat Expertise.

Why wasn't it be possible in 3.5 ?

It was possible in 3.5. I don't know what he's talking about.

Using the Core, Advanced Players Guide and Ultimate Magic it is possible to get an even higher AC.

25 Point Buy, Gnome Monk 1, Synthesist Summoner 19 (small serpentine eidolon)

Base: Str 12 (10), Dex 16 (10), Con 13 (10), Int 13, Wis 18, Cha 14

Values in parentheses are the summoner’s physical stats when unmerged. All of the summoner’s ability increases go to wisdom. All of the eidolon’s ability increases go to dexterity. He takes improved natural armor and dexterity ability increase evolutions. A level 19 Synthesist with a small eidolon has a natural armor of 16, a shield bonus of +4 and a +9 bonus to Dex. He also gets a +4 Manual for dexterity and a +5 Tome for wisdom and wears headbands and belts to increase those stats:

Str 15 (8), Dex 46 (16), Con 13(12), Int 13, Wis 34, Cha 16.

Feats: Dodge, Combat Expertise, Weapon Finesse, Mobility
Skills: Acrobatics

Evolutions: +2 Natural armor 3x, +2 Ability increase dexterity 4x, arms

Equipment: Ring of Protection +5 (50,000gp) , Amulet of Natural Armor +5 (50,000 gp), Bracers of Armor +8 (64,000gp), Headband of Mental Prowess +6 Wisdom (36,000gp), Belt of Incredible Dexterity +6 (36,000gp), Manual of Quickness in Action +4 (110,500gp), Tome of Clear Thought +5 (137,500gp), Dusty Rose Ioun Stone (5,000gp), +5 Defending Siangham (72,310gp), Monk's Robe (13,000gp)

Total Price of Equipment: ~573,000 gp

This gets him the following AC:
10 (Base) + 23 (Dexterity Bonus) + 22 (natural armor) + 4 (shield)
 +12 (Wisdom Bonus)
+ 1 (Monk)
+ 1 (Dodge)
+ 5 (Ring of Protection)
+ 5 (Amulet of Natural Armor)
+ 8 (Bracers of Armor)
+ 1 (Dusty Rose Ioun Stone)
+ 5 (Defending Siangham)
+ 5 (Combat Expertise)
+ 3 (Fighting Defensively)
+ 1 (Size Bonus)
= 106/67/70

Seregon, human fighter juggernaut

Switch out his ring of regeneration for a ring of freedom of movement, and he can solo the Tarrasque in melee pretty much automatically.

One quibble there.

Your shield focus feats don't apply to an animated shield anymore then weapon spec feats and weapon training apply to a dancing longsword.

Also, animated shields are now limited duration, so it's not a constant effect.

You've got +5 weapons...why didn't you train out the penetrating strike chain? The only thing it would be useful against would be DR x/epic, which means you have two feats only good for fighting Solars. Penetrating Strike is no good against Dr X/-.

You have more skill points, but you could basically have done the same with a dwarf or half-orc and gotten better racial powers otherwise. Interesting way to get AC, however.

I am confused on how the Greatswords crit multiplier is "x3".

20th level of Fighter. Your class ability increases the multiplier by 1.

Threadsurrection:

With UM & UC in play there is This Thread about Magus has anyone boosted beyond the ones listed here?
