[Arcane possession]

Does anybody know if, or have any prefered options toward, if any of the entries in bestiary 4 will be added to the summon monster list?

Its doubtful that any monsters from Bestiary 4 will be added to any Summon Monster spell. As far as I know, monsters from Bestiary 2 and 3 haven't even been added.

If you are able to give a good reason to summon a monster from bestiaries 2, 3 or 4 as well as GM discretion, I don't see any reason not to be able to summon them.

Nope: I believe the official Paizo policy is not to update summon monsters lists with each new book, since they feel adding more and more options would make the spell more powerful, and might cause option paralysis within players.

I believe the reason the developers said that new monsters are not added to the lists is for balance. They don't want to keep making those spells stronger with every new monster book that comes out.

If I were DM, I would probably at least allow a player to swap out a monster from the normal list with a new monster. Just go through and find the average CR of the monsters in each list. Then find a monster with an appropriate CR to swap in. Basically, each caster with a summon spell customizes their own version of it.
