Boxer will pumnle the last peasant.

Attack vs ac, 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19, 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

The peasant falls to the ground with a sickly crunch, and it seems your battle is over. However, the battle in the valley below continues on even as the bank of fog engulfs them all completely. Writhing shapes are briefly illuminated in the fog by the last of the orange lightning, and soon a deathly quiet falls over the clearing.

Everyone:
Alright, after you're done here we're going to have a nice little timeskip. Decide on a reason to be at a memorial service in Sharn exactly four years from now and what you did between now and then. I probably should of warned you earlier in retrospect.

M Minotaur Runepriest 1

Spoiler:
Gurdang managed to work steadily as a bodyguard, but none as dangerous as this mission was. Eventually he wound up in Sharn, working as a guard for various goblin the could afford him. The money was never great, but for the most part he stood around and looked imposing. His one regret was that he never put the effort into learning more rune magic.

Currently, he has left the Cogs to search for better employment. This memorial service (for what by the way?) seems like a good way to get in with of the lesser "ir's" with some deep pockets.

Good. Of course, you still have some loot to pick up, thugs to possibly interrogate, so I'm not going to be skipping ahead just yet.

Warforged Fighter

Spoiler:
Boxer served as Amyrielle's bodyguard until the end of the war when Boxer left the Canith's service. Boxer left the Canith's mostly because the house artificers wanted to keep using him for experiments.

Boxer wandered around Sharn for about bit before finding work as a porter at the skydocks. After preventing some bandits from sneaking aboard the skyship Pe'Quod he was hired by it's captain, Vaughn Dresser, as a deck hand. He has been working for the captain ever since.

The Pe'Quod has recently docked in Sharn and Boxer has taken leave to attend the memorial service.

female Human Rogue 1

Spoiler:
After the War, Gabrielle turned her sweet tooth to good use and now runs a small doughnut stand in Sharn. She's now very fat, but her old skills mean nobody gets away with theft. She overhears a lot of gossip.

Whose memorial service is it?

Female Human Artificer 1

Spoiler:
Amyrielle, of course, worked (and still does) with her House. She is disconcerted with the way it splintered into factions after the Day of Mourning and wishes to see it unified once more. She stays in touch with Boxer when he's in Sharn.

She lives in the Cannith Enclave in the Dragon Towers, though she wants to save enough money for a home of her own.

She went to the memorial service since she's never been to one and wants to see what one is like.

Gabrielle Froidsman wrote:

It's for the Day of Mourning. It's a relatively-prestigious affair with several of the more-famous Cyran survivors there to make speeches. on top of one of the towers, and although it's invitation-only your old friend Bren ir'Gadden is there and is paying for enough of it that you won't get into too much trouble if you try sneaking in.

Also, assuming you looted the bodied before leaving, loot:

Spoiler:
One of the sergeants had a pair of enchanted gauntlets, and the leader's staff was enchanted.

+1 Opportunistic Spiked Gauntlets
Crit: +1d6, or +1d12 with an OA
Daily: Immediate Reaction when enemy provokes an OA, make an additional OA against the target.

Aversion Staff +1
Crit: +1d8

Does Bren ir'Gadden like doughnuts?

Gabrielle Froidsmains wrote:

He likes people who save his life and won't object to them setting up a stand to offer refreshments for before and after the ceremony.

Female Kalashtar Psion 1

I'm damn well taking her staff. Back in the past...

Khashana rounds on a defeated thug, "Tell me, do you serve evil of your own will or are you merely a weak-minded pawn?"

"I'd sooner die than help you, scum." The sergeant spits at you.

Warforged Fighter

I want the gauntlets.

"We can arrange that rather easily." Amyrielle is still upset that they attacked her after all.

female Human Rogue 1

"Khashana, can you read this idiot's mind before Amyrielle loses her patience?"

Spoiler:

As someone who no only lost his entire family, and all his friends, but his home and country as well, Raivek sees the memorial as a good way to pay respects to those he has lost. He holds a grudge against everyone that isn't also from Cyre, but the memorial is one time he's willing to put his ego aside for just a moment. He's come to this city in hopes of finding new clues about the destruction of his home. Anything that may lead him to the truth.

Female Kalashtar Psion 1

Khashana looks puzzled and then amused.

"Ah, yes, most painfully." she lies.

female Human Rogue 1

"Good. Can you get on with that then. I want you out of here."

Gabrielle eats another lump of Turkish Delight.

Female Human Artificer 1

"I'm very patient. I only noted that we *could* do what he wanted."

female Human Rogue 1

"Do you have a preference?"

Gabrielle turns her attention to the Sergeant.

"Do your worst."

female Human Rogue 1

"I'm not killing you in cold blood."

She turns away.

Good aligned.

Female Human Artificer 1

"You do know there's a war on, right? As much as I dislike the Brel's, you were sent to kill one of thier officers. It's totally legal to execute you. So, how about you talk and save your life?"

"I am no traitor, even if I have failed in my duties."

female Human Rogue 1

Anyone got a decent Intimidate roll they can offer?

Warforged Fighter

Boxer will pick up the guy by the throat, "The Mistress wants answers now. It would be less painful for you if you give them quickly, I realy don't want to have to tear off your fingers."

Intimidate = 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Intimidate = 1d20+2

"Oh, no, I don't want answers. Gabrielle and Kashana do. I don't care, really." She hmms. "Maybe, though, you should tear the fingers off, slowly. If I could get a good look at the muscle structure, I could improve your hands!" Amyrielle smiles at the thought.

Aid Another on Boxer's attempt. 1d20 ⇒ 14.

M Minotaur Runepriest 1

Gurdang is gonna stay out of the torture.

Female Kalashtar Psion 1

"No." Khashana says quietly, "This shall not occur. Let him be."

female Human Rogue 1

"Thanks. You're good people, Khashana. Strange, but good. Besides, where's he going to run to? I don't think anything out there is still alive."

Gabrielle looks unusually serious as the horror of the mist finally sink in.

Warforged Fighter

Boxer drops the man.
"I wasn't going to realy pull off his fingers, I was just trying to scare him." he says shrugishly.

The man picks himself off the ground and coughs. "So, I am spared?"

Ready for the time skip? Also, does This Map work?

Female Kalashtar Psion 1

"Yes. Consider carefully your path." Khashana replies distantly.

female Human Rogue 1

"What about your assistant?"

Gabrielle abruptly remembers Bren ir'Gadden's stricken comrade.

"He still needs help."

Yes to time slip, but just clearing up loose ends. Map works fine.

Female Human Artificer 1

Map works for me.

Is the light gray a on the second floor a veranda?

Boxer wrote:

The light gray everywhere is the ground. The dark gray is a wall, but thin enough you can share the same space as it. (The wall's on the outer edge, so no going from H7 to I7 without going through the door first.) The asterisks are columns holding the balcony up. The slashes are stairs.

Bren leads Aric out by the hand. "Well, he can still walk, somehow. I think I know where we are and which way is the Brelish command. Come, let us be away from this dreadful place."

...

Four years later, the Day of Mourning still haunts your dreams. You were lucky. If you just a few hundred yards to the east you would probably be dead right now, just like thousands of others. Words run through your dreams, Five at the brink of desolation stand as one against the tempest's roar...

Today, you all find yourselves at a towertop ceremony in Sharn honoring those fallen in that dreadful day four years ago. A former Cyran major
stands behind a podium, making a speech...

Amyrielle, Khashana:
An invitation arrived three days ago from your old acquaintance Lord-Commander Bren ir'Gadden, now only a Lord. You had no reason not to attend and every reason to, so here you are.

Boxer:
You arrived back in port today, and while the rest of the crew headed for the pubs you headed to the memorial. The guards briefly attempted to detain you, but Lord ir'Gadden soon arrived to see the commotion and told them to find you a seat.

Gabrielle:
Your old acquaintance Lord Bren ir'Gadden has hired you to provide refreshments for today's ceremony. You can't help but think you may have been hired for your past connection more than your food, but you still have a small stand set up on the balcony overlooking the memorial.

Raivek:
You arrive at the ceremony, just like how you've done for the past three years. One of the guards made a weak attempt at keeping you, but you convinced him to let you by. The rest recognize your homeland. Now, you stand at the stairs listening to a speech, and a single tear falls in honor of your lost countrymen.

Gurdang:
You have been hired to guard a young heir by the name of Darik ir'Tain in addition to your duties guarding the ceremony. Thus, you are here listening to the speech and making sure he doesn't sneak out instead of playing cards with the other guards down below.

female Human Rogue 1

Gabrielle wipes her sticky hands clean and listens intently, curiously noting comrades from the past in the crowd. She tentatively greets them, while contemplating new recipes. Whatever Bren ir'Gadden's opinions, a lot of people have a sweet tooth and she's grateful for the chance to gain custom.

Female Human Artificer 1

Amyrielle has been less then happy to be living in Breland, but, with her own homeland destroyed, she needs to live someplace. She's reperesting her house today, dressed in a fashionable dress. It's low cut in the back, showing off her dragonmark. She does, however, have a wand or two tucked away.

She wouldn't wear armor to the service, so if there's a fight, her AC is only 14, not it's normal 16.

Amyrielle is happy to see the others, Boxer most of all, and she quietly gossips with them while the speeches continue.

Raivek tries to keep his composure as much as possible. Despite his sorrow, and the held back tears, these events serve to inspire, and anger him. He listens to the entire speech, and waits for the end of the ceremony. "Someday brothers, you will have your rest. I'll discover the truth, and make the person responsible pay." he whispers under his breath, making the same oath he always has at each of these events.

Female Kalashtar Psion 1

Khashana eyes Gabrielle's pastries warily.

female Human Rogue 1

"There's no need to look like that. I've learned to use ingredients now."

Gabrielle whispers very quietly so as not to break the solemnity of the moment.

Warforged Fighter

"Mistress Amyrielle It is good to see you again." Boxer reachs out and give her a firm but gentle hug.

To Gabrielle, "Hello again little Miss, you have grown since we last met. You must have prospered over the years."

"I also see the mindwalker is here also, has everyone from that day at the keep attending this event as well?"

female Human Rogue 1

"Prospered and learned to cook. It's good to see you too, Boxer. I think you're right. All of us, except Gurdang. I'd like to see him again."

M Minotaur Runepriest 1

And then the minotaur appears, glowering over the shoulder of some young noble.

female Human Rogue 1

Gabrielle waves at him.

"All of us, then. Looks like Gurdang picked up a new nanny job."

Then she falls silent, listening to the speeches.

M Minotaur Runepriest 1

Gurdang's attention is drawn to these former aquaintances, and his eyes widen, giving him the appearance of a surprised cow.
