I should mention as well, as you can see from the map, there is another set of double doors out of the chamber.

Then none of the PCs. Alwyn's friend? If not that he might have scent.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Hellhounds have Scent. Also, I healed up everyone during our library stop. Who else was hurt besides Hudak?

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

Elisile is a little surprised that there are no (obvious) gaurdians in this room. She takes the time to look and listen.
Perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (15) + 18 = 33

Demiarchos should probably make a perception check then too.

Demiarchos' Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18

"This room contains something... strange. Prepare for battle!" growls Demiarchos.

Roll initiative. And please place yourselves on the map. You are either in the room (probably the bottom half) or in the corridor outside - please do what seems most appropriate based on the above posts. None of you can see invisible so you will all be automatically surprised, unless you can hit the Perception DC of 48.

For the DM:

Spoiler:
Hound 1 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Hound 2 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Hound 3 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

She's behind the rest of the group, most likely, so it will depend on where they are placed.

Upon hearing that there is a foe in the next room, Sefayll will begin to focus on her helm to try to pick up its thoughts. Flavor text for her initial action, at least until we know what we are facing

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

OK, just got Camlo (and Sef, partly) - more positions and initiatives, please.

Abruptly, three vaguely quadrupedal creatures materialise in the room. Their bodies are lean, almost skeletal. Fangs pack their jaws, with strange prehensile lolling out tongues that drip green ichor. As they move it seems as if they are shifting between realities, space bending to accommodate their whims. Huge soulless eyes like smoky glass orbs glare out, warping the fabric of the universe and tearing the bodies of its hapless mundane inhabitants.

In the surprise round they unleash a gaze attack. T1 and T3 attack Hudak, T2 attacks Demiarchos. The damage is subject to DR if you have it, though it bypasses DR/magic and slashing. Also a Fort save DC 18 negates the damage and you are immune to that thing's gaze attack for 24 hours.
T1 5d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 2, 2) = 12
T2 5d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4, 4, 6) = 24
T3 5d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 2, 4) = 17

Knowledge (The Planes) DC 17:

Spoiler:
These are hounds of Tindalos, otherworldy monstrosities that dwell in a separate reality.

Camlo.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Double move to AZ13, hiding behind the big pillar thing, and drawing rapier and dagger while I'm at it.

Camlo moves forward through his friends using them as cover to hide from the beasts.

Stealth: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (2) + 29 = 31

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22

"Those appear to be hounds of Tindalos. They are not normally found in this reality. Their presence is an indication of the power of the spellcaster we seek."

Aubrey:
Not a great roll, but do I get any additional information for beating the DC? I'd be interested in weaknesses or vulnerabilities.

Sef:

Spoiler:
You know not to try mental contact, which could fry your brain. They can teleport at will and move between planes, but only emerge through sharp corners, and this room seems specifically designed to frustrate that.

I need to know the results of the Fort saves before I know what the hounds are doing.

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

"These creatures can teleport and shift between planes, but with some restrictions. It appears that the room was designed to constrain them. They may have been imprisoned here long ago. Or perhaps the room was designed for this purpose by a previous caster."

Male Human (Shoanti) Fighter 11

Fort save 1 (DC 18): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16

So Hudak failed both saves and Demiarchos saved; I think we are up to Thing 1 and Thing 2 (they sound so cuddly and loveable).

I quite like this image of a Hound of Tindalos: http://img09.deviantart.net/514b/i/2016/050/9/3/the_hounds_of_tindalos_by_n ottsuo-d9sed54.jpg

Perception checks
T1 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20
T2 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35
T3 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22
I think Camlo's move is 7 squares and therefore counts as a double-move at full speed. That imposes a -5 mod to Stealth checks.

The creatures' otherworldly gaze begins rearranging Hudak's anatomy. Blood spurts from tortured tissues. As one continues to stare, tearing the Shoanti warrior apart, another begins to warp time itself.

OK, Hudak takes 29 slashing damage in the surprise round. Thing 1 then gazes at him again. Same thing, 5d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 5, 4, 3) = 21 damage, DC 18 Fort save negates.

Thing 2 casts Slow. It knows Camlo is there, so Concentration check 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29 v DC 21. Given line of sight, that'll potentially hit everyone except Sef, as Thing 2 doesn't have line of sight to her. That's a Will save, DC 16, or you are Slowed for ten rounds.

Hudak.

Now I feel slightly less bad about that insanely high stealth... AT least some things manage to beat it sometimes ;)

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Will save Hudak (DC 16): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Will save Alwyn (DC 16): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
Will save Demiarchos (DC 16): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Male Human (Shoanti) Fighter 11

Jesus H. Christ, these saves. Hudak moves to AW 9. Does Thing 2 need a separate Concentration check versus Demiarchos?

No, just one will do.

I assume you mean AW10 for Hudak since he'll take an AoO from T3 if he moves to AW9. Let me know if you really prefer AW10.

Alwyn.

Map updated.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Yeah, I meant AW10. Alwyn casts Blade barrier in a 10' radius circle anchored in the AT-AU 9-10 intersection. They take 11d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 3, 3, 1, 5, 5, 5, 4, 1) = 38 points of damage; Reflex 22 negates. It hits Thing 1 and Thing 3; if they end up inside the ring of blades it should give us time to deal with Thing 2. And it gives cover and thus stops their creepy gaze attack!

Reflex saves
T1 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
T3 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32

OK, they both avoid the damage but are inside the Blade Barrier.

Illes.

Illes!

Grand Lodge

Sorry. Burned my free time with the loot thing. Tomorrow morning.

Illes begins casting in slow motion until something pops and his body syncs back up to normal time. The others around him, however, take on the jerky high speed signs of his spells.

Standard: Haste, Everyone except Hudak.
That dispels slow and just puts Illes back to normal speed.
If that allows him to continue his turn with a Move action-
Move Action: Inspire Courage +4/+4

Dark Archive

Wintergreen's CE PA IT Geek 10/Daddy 9/Physicist 3/Cartographer 1/Runner 3/Cub Scout Leader 2/Musician 1

That will be Camlo back to normal speed too. Thank You!

Demiarchos!

Illes - if you can haste Hudak by excluding Sefayll, do it. She didn't get slowed by the HoT.

HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

I missed that Hudak also failed, but my options are everyone except Hudak, or only Hudak and Camlo. He's too far out.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

I have a vague recollection that Haste only adds attacks if using 'manufactured weapons' - i.e. that Demiarchos won't get an extra attack. Is that correct?

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

From the spell description: "When making a full attack action, a hasted creature may make one extra attack with one natural or manufactured weapon" - so Demiarchos is good to go!

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Attack 1: 1d20 + 20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 20 + 1 = 41 damage: 2d6 + 12 + 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) + 12 + (3, 1) = 23

Attack 2: 1d20 + 20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 20 + 1 = 28 damage: 2d6 + 12 + 2d6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 12 + (1, 6) = 22

Full attack on Thing 2! The second 2d6 in each damage sequence is fire damage. Attack rolls include }Haste bonus.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Critical confirmation roll: 1d20 + 20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 20 + 1 = 40 damage: 2d6 + 12 + 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) + 12 + (2, 3) = 20

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Damn. Very nice.

Demiarchos chews up the alien hound, which limps away badly wounded.

Fog billows out from behind the screen of whirling blades.

Elisile, then Sef.

Map updated.

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

I have precise shot, so I can fire into melee, but is it even feasible for Elisile to target Thing 2 from her current position behind Demiarchos? If not, she will do something else ...

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

Alright, I'm going to assume that Elisile can fire past Demiarchos, but the Hound of Tindalos will get a +4 bonus to AC due to cover from Demiarchos. I will NOT factor that into my dice rolls, so Aubrey feel free to adjust the Hound's AC accordingly.

Full attack with Shocking Bow on Thing 2, with effects of Inspire Courage, Haste, Cat's Grace, Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot and Gravity Bow.

Attack 1: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (3) + 21 = 24 damage: 2d6 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 7 + (5) = 17 (last 1d6 is electrical).
Attack 2 (haste): 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (18) + 21 = 39 damage: 2d6 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 7 + (6) = 22 (last 1d6 is electrical).
Attack 3: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35 damage: 2d6 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (6, 4) + 7 + (5) = 22 (last 1d6 is electrical).

Elisile takes aim at the wounded hound through the narrow gap between Demiarchos' bulk and the wall and let's fire with three rapid arrows.

Elisile's arrows find their mark and the unearthly fiend flops down.

Thing 2 down.

Sef.
