How far are we from the COMPNOR agents, and is there anything usable as cover nearby?

Eamch Stone wrote:

Everyone is considered point blank range. All PCs are considered to have cover based on their stated actions from Round 1. The COMPNOR agents near the door (three of them) all have cover from the PCs in the cantina but they don't from anyone outside the cantina.

A look of mild distaste evident on his face from having to use such a crude weapon, Alistair draws his sporting blaster pistol from its holster at his right hip and shoots. His intent is to stun, at least for the time being.

Ranged attack (sporting blaster pistol) 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
Damage (stun) 2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8

Well, brilliant. First attack and it is a critical miss. Maximum damage though. Hopefully the pistol does not blow up or some such. He really hates guns it would seem...

Alistair fires his blaster into the air, apparently to let the COMPNOR agents know where he is hiding. ;) Standing next to him is Stone, who is up next.

Stone will draw his blaster and cooly aim at the one bragging about hitting the fleeing woman. A single squeeze of the trigger.

To hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Damage if hits: 3d8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 5, 7) + 2 = 17

I know aiming doesn't help in this encounter, but it's kind of his style.

Alistair and Stone fire from their covered position in the western alleyway running along Gundarks. Bright streaks of plasma fly at the COMPNOR agents with no affect (other than alerting their foes).

Allerick, taking cover behind a table with a smoking hole blown out of it is next to act, the braggart who shot Maya and target of his surprise attack having been dropped.

Allerick pops up again, snapping off a shot at the nearest conscious enemy!

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Damage: 3d4 + 1 ⇒ (1, 4, 2) + 1 = 8

Allerick Hosh wrote:

Damage: 3d4+1

Allerick the Gunslinger drops another enemy! One of the enemies thought he could use Maya as cover but was sorely disappointed.

Tamara sees Allerick drop two COMPNOR agents at Gundarks doorway. There are other agents shooting into the cantina outside. She is next to act.

Observing that the COMPNOR agents are using deadly force, Tamara will set her blaster off stun, and fire at the agents.

Assuming line of sight, Attack roll: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0

Allerick lets out a stifled cry as another hole is blown out of the table he is using for cover. This time, however, the shot is fired from behind him and not from the enemies in front of him!

There are two remaining COMPNOR agents at the doorway, one on the left and one on the right. The one on the left fires at Allerick and the one on the right fires at Tamara.

At Allerick:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 - He must fear your deadly skills.
At Tamara: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

From around the corner, the two COMPNOR agents holding back take the opportunity to intervene and protect their fellows at Gundarks door. One agent stands high and shoots around the corner at Alistair. The second agent kneels low and shoots around the corner at Stone.

At Alistair: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 - the hit blasts a chunk of ferocrete right in front of your face, spraying hot chunks into your face. You take no damage but you have small cuts from the near hit.

At Stone: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Seeing the events unfold before his eyes, Colvin has the opportunity to act (or not).

If combat isn't over by the time Stone's turn comes around:

Spoiler:
Stone will aim at one of the remaining thugs and squeeze off another shot.
To hit 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Damage if hits: 3d8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2, 1) + 2 = 8

I would like to take this opportunity to comment that, from what I can tell at least, everyone involved in this shoot-out -with the exception of Allerick of course- has trained in the Stormtrooper School of Shooting. Probably passed with flying colors too. :-P

Yes, our soldier specializing in pistols is oh-for-two so far.

Male Human, Scoundrel 2/Soldier 1, HP 41/41 (Thresh 21), Init. +9, Per +8, Force Points 3

Colvin steps out and takes a shot at the COMPNOR agents in the alleyway providing cover for the COMPNOR agents that are shooting into the cantina, as whoever is in the cantina will not be able to take them on easily. He is shocked that things have exploded this badly but any group that shoots a lone individual in the back deserves reciprocal treatment.

Blaster Pistol 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Damage 3d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 2, 4) + 1 = 10

After his shot he will try to step back into cover (if he can).

Blaster Pistol 1d20 + 4

Damage 3d6 + 1

After his shot he will try to step back into cover (if he can).

With exceptional ease, Colvin snaps off a shot in the confused blaster fight. The standing COMPNOR agent standing over the kneeling agent and firing into the western alleyway crumples to the ground, on top of the kneeling thug. Just as quickly as he fires his shot, Colvin fades back into the cover of darkness and the nearest doorway.

Back to the top of the order:
Alistair
Stone
Allerick
Tamara
COMPNOR Agents (three remaining - two at Gundarks door; one at the west alleyway)
Colvin

Seeing as how the COMPNOR agents seem to be fired at from three different directions, Alistair briefly wonders how that came to be. Setting the thought aside for after the fight, he decides to forego with trying to simply stun and uses his pistol at its regular setting. His target of choice is whoever of the remaining agents seems to be easier to hit.

Ranged attack (sporting blaster pistol) 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2
Damage (energy) 3d4 ⇒ (4, 1, 4) = 9

Alistair adjusts the setting on his blaster and points in the general direction of the thugs and fires, hitting absolutely nowhere near his target.

Stone suppresses a laugh at his partner's expense and considers his next action since he is next to act.

Shot at a thug 1d2 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage if hits 3d8 + 2 ⇒ (4, 5, 2) + 2 = 13

Clearly, Stone and Alistair had been drinking before coming here....

Sorry about the delay, Easter took more time than I expected...

Allerick spins around, throwing his left hand up to shield his face from blasts. "I should've never left corp life!" With his right hand he fires at one of the COMPNOR agents!

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Damage: 3d4 + 1 ⇒ (3, 1, 2) + 1 = 7

EDITZ: Luck always runs out, don't it? Check for critical failure: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Dude, you realize you rolled a 1d2 instead of a 1d20, right?

*sigh* Didn't see that. Sorry, not enough coffee yet. Thanks for the catch.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Staying under cover, Tamara attempts to hit something this time. Come on, get there!

Attack w/ pistol: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (14) - 2 = 12
Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 1) = 6

Stone's expert training comes into play as he tags the kneeling COMPNOR agent near him. He drops immediately.

Tamara's shot nearly hit but is stopped by the doorjam near the crouching thug.

The remaining two at the cantina doorway fire in:

One at Allerick: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15

One at Tamara:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Both miss, which leads into Colvin's action.

Male Human, Scoundrel 2/Soldier 1, HP 41/41 (Thresh 21), Init. +9, Per +8, Force Points 3

Colvin again steps out and assesses the situation. Seeing two more agents standing in the doorway he fires at them wth his Blaster Pistol.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

3d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 1, 6) + 1 = 12

He again tries to step back into his cover spot. He is glad to help someone who was clearly ambushed but has no desire to be shot. At least until he gets a better feel for who he is helping and how much it is going to be worth to him.

Without the benefit of cover, one of the last two COMPNOR agents falls silent to the ground, falling victim to Colvin's well placed shot.

Back to the top of the order:

Alistair
Stone
Allerick
Tamara
COMPNOR agent (only one left)
Colvin

With a soft sigh his only reaction at his obvious lack of skill with firearms, Alistair tries one more shot aimed at the lone agent.

Ranged attack (sporting blaster pistol) 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4
Damage (energy) 3d4 ⇒ (4, 2, 3) = 9

Good grief...

With a moment to aim, Stone squeezes off another single shot at the closest miscreant.

To Hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Damage if applicable: 3d8 + 2 ⇒ (5, 5, 1) + 2 = 13

Allerick, thinking hard about the series of events that has lead to him firing shots armed men, fires another blast at the last agent.

Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Damage 3d4 + 1 ⇒ (2, 2, 1) + 1 = 6

The last remaining COMPNOR agent is fired at from from several different directions, one blasting chunks of building off and spraying him with debris.

Tamara's actions are next in line.

Tamara breathes out slowly, and takes aim once more. She lets herself go, and the Force guides her hand as she squeezes the trigger.

Attack roll, with Force point spent: 1d20 + 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (17) + (5) + 4 = 26

The Force is strong in this one...

Tamara gives herself over to the force, letting it guide her actions. The result is a perfect shot, silencing the last agent.

It has been less than a minute since Maya fell into the doorway to Gundarks. Since then, the cantina is pretty empty. Those that did stay are emerging warily from whatever cover they could find.

You can't be sure, but it would be impossible to hide this type of firefight from the authorities or the Imperials or both. You don't believe you have much time before you have unwanted company.

You are out of initiative now. Let me know what you want to do.

Cover me Stone says to Alistair. Stone pulls a medpac out of his pack and sprints toward Maya's still form. He holds the medpac above his head as he runs to signal his intent. Once there, he checks her condition.

"Yes," Alistair offers with a roll of his eyes, "and hopefully if I have to shoot I will not be hitting you, considering how good my aim was."

Pistol still in hand, he follows the soldier at a brisk pace, his eyes and ears alert as he looks around for any more trouble coming their way.

Male Human, Scoundrel 2/Soldier 1, HP 41/41 (Thresh 21), Init. +9, Per +8, Force Points 3

Colvin still holding his blaster heads down the hallway to where the stranger is treating the fallen woman. "I take it you are a friend of hers. I usually don't get involved in other peoples business but I take issue with people shooting women in the the back. If we can move her we probably should this place will become a lot more unfriendly real quick I would imagine."

Stone - please give me a Treat Injury skill check

Treat Injury 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

That's a skill of 7, plus two for having a full medkit.

I have updated Stone's stat block in the profile to match everyone else's formatting. I'm not very confident in my calculated numbers, so I'll try to check those in the next evening or two when I have my book available. In the meantime, if anyone sees anything wrong, just let me know and I'll be glad to update it.

Allerick waits a moment to be sure all the shots have stopped firing. He then steps out from his improvised cover, jumping as the table promptly collapses. Seeing Maya's prone form, he moves quickly to her side. "Is she alright? Will she be alright?"

Glancing around nervously while attempting to hide his blaster he says in a low voice: "Listen, if she can be moved, we gotta go. There's going to be a LOT more trouble here in a few moments and I just shot at COMPNOR agents. I CAN'T go back to prison again!"

Holstering her blaster, Kess moves out from cover and follows Allerick to Maya's side. Noticing the medic attending her, she says, "Glad to see someone else on this station that cares about a being other than themself. This is most likely the worst place to treat her at the moment, however." Under her breath, Kess says, "If you will, we've a place that may serve to stay low in until things cool down."

Stone will do everything he can to stabilize her so she can be moved, if he did well enough to save her in the first place.

Talking as he works, Stone says Alistair, do these thugs have communicators on them? If so, grab one so we can monitor what they're saying.

Male Human, Scoundrel 2/Soldier 1, HP 41/41 (Thresh 21), Init. +9, Per +8, Force Points 3

Colvin looks down at the woman as he arrives at the spot where Maya is down. "Mind if I tag along? I was supposed to find someone here but it looks like I will have to find a way off this station instead."

After Stone quick administers the necessary medical attention, Maya seems to recover, albeit moderately. She will need further medical attentiion but a better locale would be prudent.

She manages to weakly croak. "I see you've met..." as she sees who is hovering all around her. She attempts a smile but manages a grimace instead.

As the pain medications begin to kick in, she offers a suggestion, "Take me to the secret apartment, please, and quickly..."and seems to slip into unconciousness again before she finishes her sentence. Stone double checks her vital signs and determines she is safe to transport.

"Poodoo, poodoo, poodoo!" Allerick keeps repeating as he looks around frantically. "Alright, this way. I'll go first. Smuggler (pointing at Kess) you take tail. Warn us if you see anybody following. Let's go."

Allerick moves quickly ahead, slipping his blaster back into its hidden holster and adjusting it until it's unseen. He'll keep a nervous eye out as he goes, scanning every corner.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Perception: 1d20+4

Allerick begins taking you back through some of the back alleyways, working to avoid confrontation of any kind. He quickly stops everyone short as he sees (and hears) a stormtrooper patrol heading in the direction you just left.

Perception rolls from everyone please

Male Human, Scoundrel 2/Soldier 1, HP 41/41 (Thresh 21), Init. +9, Per +8, Force Points 3

Colvin Perception roll. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Stone should have no problem carrying Maya.

Holstering his weapon and tucking his hands back in his pockets, Alistair moves along with the rest of the group, his eyes briefly on the young woman Allerick called a smuggler before turning his attention back to their surroundings.

Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

A lousy shot he may be, but he has the eyes of the hawk and the ears of the wolf, at least this particualr moment. :-D

As you approach the Blue Deck near the droid shop you worked at recently, Alistair quickly senses something is amiss. He quickly manages to stop everyone and convince everyone to backtrack to find a new route to take. Just in the nick of time too as Alistair spots several COMPNOR agents working their way up the alley, right where the group was originally headed.

You manage to make it back to the apartment eventually.

Let me know what you want to do from here.

Male Human, Scoundrel 2/Soldier 1, HP 41/41 (Thresh 21), Init. +9, Per +8, Force Points 3

Colvin looks at the group and states, "Now that we have a chance to catch our breath, I am Colvin Dashwind. I was coming to the Gundark to find a woman named Maya. A contact of mine told me she could give me some work. It seems though that by getting myself involved in your troubles I won't be able to meet up with her. So since you all seem to have the need to leave I would like to accompany you off of this space station. After that we can go our seperate ways, I am sure I can find work elsewhere".
