Hello friends. My 4 year old son, Luke, has autism. It has been a very weird time filled with awful struggles, amazing breakthroughs, and a couple of supportive communities that have inspired strength and hope in me and my family.
Luke and I are participating in the 4th Annual Walk for Autism, sponsored by Autism Delaware, a non-profit organization that I have seen in action. I can't even begin to list the amount of help and support my son and my family have received from them. We have formed a team: Luke's Parade of Hope, and I would love for my friends on the Paizo boards to help us reach our donation goals.
Please visit this link to sponsor us in our walk. Luke's Parade of Hope
The site is fast, easy and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fund-raising efforts.
Thank you everyone, for this and for all the past support when the times have been tough.

Hey mate, really good cause, I would like to sponser you for this. The linked page is loading really slowly for me right now, so I will check back in later. Can we make credit card payments?
Hope you and your son have a lot of fun with this!
Thank you brother! Yes, the site is set up for credit card payments and is very secure.
I have most of my close-by friends going as walkers for this and my wife and her family have really gone all out to get people walking, it's going to be a great walk with a lot of people in just our little group alone. We are really excited and I think my son will just flip over us all walking the 2 miles as a group all decked out like a real parade. He just loves that stuff! Here is Luke and I at last year's Delaware City Parade. He really enjoys the whole parade atmosphere. Thanks again brother!

You guys are amazing! Thank you so much.
Here is another Pic of my buddy-boy, Luke, with his sister Lizzie. Picture Link!
His sister Liz has decided that she wants to help out and has been inspired by the story of the girl from Alex's Lemonade Stand. Her idea (at 6-1/2 years old!) is to give out lemonade for free and ask people to donate if they feel like it. Her mother and I have decided to run with it and ask the local fire company if we can use their parking lot for a couple of hours on one Sunday coming up. We are also plastering the local businesses and churches with handouts we made up to try to get some good traffic going for her. I just hope we can keep up with demand for the Lemonade!
It's pretty cool how my family is really getting into this, including all of you guys!
Thanks again! Every bit helps!

Thanks brother! Every bit helps.
I think my wife and I are gonna blow the lid off of this year's walk. We have a confirmed total of FIFTY people walking on our team alone! They are starting to get their personal sites up and collecting donations also. We are gonna so totally rock the Walk! This is gonna be such a huge impact on the community. I am so proud to be a part of this and proud of all my friends helping us out.

You people made me look bad, with my miniscule donation ;-) It's a good cause, though, and I felt it was worth what I could spare from my unemployment. I hope the donations continue to pour in for you, Fakey.
The fact that you made a donation is all that matters. I thank you for sacrificing much needed funds during a tough time to support my cause. It makes it all the more special to me.

No problem, don't hurt yourself, times are tough. If you can later that's great but don't skip out on yourself to do it. I ain't trying to hurt anyone here, just hoping to raise some funds for a good cause.
Good luck brother!Fake Healer |

Thanks for the bump Heathy. It's a good cause that I am proud to be a part of....
Still plenty of time for donations. Get a leg up on tax deductions for this year! Beat the rush! Feel good about helping out! It'll make you sexier and smarter, guaranteed!**guarantee is in theory only, not an actual guarantee.

"Give to the cause. You know you want to. All the cool kids are doing it." bump.
I did a bike-a-thon over Vail Pass to help support the Children's Hospital in Denver. Later on that year, I found out that two people that I knew well needed to use their services.
These places really rely on these donation pushes to help fund all the good that they do and they really do a lot of good. You may not think that you will ever need their services (or know people who will), but when you or others do need them, it's nice to know that they are out there and are being supported by others.
I know that Zombie and Fakey are doing their best to keep this up at the top to increase awareness -- but I would really like to see us, as a community, really get behind this and support this a lot more. And the thing is -- there is safety in numbers. There are a lot of people who browse these boards. If 50 people donated only $5, we would nearly double the donations he has gathered so far.
Let's support our own.

Thanks, Moff and Zombie. This organization is driven by donations. The more they get, the more group activities and outings they can organize and the more parent education seminars they can form. I am so happy with the donations I've received so far and I feel blessed to have such a giving community around me. I have to strive to gather more though because I feel so strongly about this cause! Like Moff Rimmer said; just a couple bucks each from a bunch of people and we can make a huge difference.
Please give! It gives karma a reason to do nice things for you!

It's Friday! Let's start the weekend by doing something nice for autistic children! A few years ago the numbers were 1 in 150ish kids were autistic, today those numbers are closer to 1 in 66! There's a lot of children, teens and adults out there with autism and helping spread knowledge of this affliction is very important. Let's make a difference!

The ads for Autismspeaks.org (with Toni Braxton and Ernie Els) I hear rather often on my favourite online radio say 1 in 110... I wonder where the different groups get their statistics from.
