I came across an issue with reach weapons and creatures that are tiny are smaller when I was constructing an encounter for my players.
So tiny or below "typically" has no natural reach:
Tiny, Diminutive, and Fine Creatures: Very small creatures take up less than 1 square of space. This means that more than one such creature can fit into a single square. A Tiny creature typically occupies a space only 2-1/2 feet across, so four can fit into a single square. 25 Diminutive creatures or 100 Fine creatures can fit into a single square. Creatures that take up less than 1 square of space typically have a natural reach of 0 feet, meaning they can't reach into adjacent squares. They must enter an opponent's square to attack in melee. This provokes an attack of opportunity from the opponent. You can attack into your own square if you need to, so you can attack such creatures normally. Since they have no natural reach, they do not threaten the squares around them. You can move past them without provoking attacks of opportunity. They also can't flank an enemy.
So then it seems the solution to give them reach weapons to solve it. However, things start to get a little strange...
Reach: You use a reach weapon to strike opponents 10 feet away, but you can't use it against an adjacent foe.
It seems as if the two entries aren't really designed to work with each other, at least if you want to replicate some sense of size scale.
You end up with kooky situations like having a fine sized creature wielding a reach weapon that extends out to 10 feet.
I can see an argument being made that fine size and diminutive size are just too small to be able to have any reach at all, even if they are armed with a reach weapon, unless perhaps a pike was introduced as a weapon (which would have "double reach" or some other special quality).
Tiny size seems big enough that it is in a gray zone where it could use a reach weapon and then have 5' reach, threatening adjacent squares, but not the square it occupies.
Now it's easy enough to handwave/houserule all of this in, but when you're dealing with a group of people who are trying to stick to RAW as much as possible, or even playing PFS, it would be great if this were clarified.

Reach Should work by giving them the next size category of reach.
Medium creature with a reach weapon now has the reach of a Large creature.
Small has reach of a medium
Tiny now has reach of small.
Pikes and whips should increase the reach by 2 categories. Tiny has the reach of medium.
I've been trying to wrap my head around solutions for this for a bit. I think this is a pretty elegant solution.
