How long was Aroden a living god?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I have looked through the Campaign Setting book as well as the wiki page for Aroden and not found anything that describes how long Aroden stayed on Golarion before he ascended to the heavens. I believe he fought Tar-Baphon some 800 years after he founded Absalom (don't have the timeline in front of me but that is what I recall), but then there is little mention of him doing direct deeds after that.

I'm just looking for some insight as to when he might have ascended and stopped walking the world. Thanks!

I think he ascended the moment he got the Starstone.

I've always been godlike.

Yes, that's right. He was an immortal Azlanti human (the Last Azlanti, in fact) before the Starstone struck Golarion. After he raised the Starstone from the sea, he "ascended to the Heavens".

How rude. The way you talk behind my back - right to my face!

I think about 4600 years in total (sorry big A!)

Correct.

So did he come back down to lead the armies against Tar Baphon? Or is my timeline off? I thought he fought Tar Baphon around 800 years after he raised the starstone? Thanks!

When Chuck Norris touches the Starstone, IT ascends.

Per the Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting, page 201, during the Age of Enthronement, in 896 Aroden mortally wounds the wizard king Tar-Baphon on the Isle of Terror at the center of Lake Encarthan.

I suppose it's easy enough to explain that he came back down to Golarion to lead the armies against the wizard king and, after defeating him, ascended to the heavens again. Is that how others interpret it? Thanks!

Tar-Baphon built the Wizard-King's Pit on the Isle of Terror to specifically trick and trap Aroden. It didn't work and instead of Aroden dying, Tar-Baphon was destroyed (later to rise as the Whispering Tyrant).

There's some additional historical stuff about this period in the upcoming Pathfinder Module City of Golden Death.

Aha, I see. I can put a story around it now. Thanks!

P.S. I ran Crypt of the Everflame for a small group back in October, but I haven't yet picked up the 2nd installment in the series. I may just have to do that, as the City of Golden Death sounds very intriguing!
