So what type of dice bag do you have?

Haldir, I have to agree - that's awesome!

The Exchange

I got about 15 crown royal bags, including a couple of the black ones that I get from asking the liquor store cashiers if they have any extra, that I use for a bunch of stuff. Some hold the week's minis that I need to run with, some hold one or two sets of dice, some hold a games like 3 dragon ante and a mini settlers of catan game, and a large one holds about 3 lbs of random dice.
I also have 3 velvet bags that are large and hold a couple of books each, a chainmail bag for my cooler dice, a couple of leather/leatherette bags for dice and about a half dozen random drawstring bags from various sources like sunglass holders, and such....
Basically if it has drawstrings and is cool looking I use it as a bag for my various RPG needs. I am a bit of a bag-whore.

Currently I have several dice storage options:

1. a green suede leather pouch I just got this year at the Ren Fair

2. a Big Strike Handy Tackle Box; a plastic rectangle about 12" x 6" with 6 inserts for all 6 types of dice

3. a cheap cigar flatbox of unknown origins and cardboard construction

4. (my personal fave but not portable) a carved wooden box of beautiful dark wood lined on the inside with green felt. It was a gift from my oldest brother, the one who never understood/approved of my gaming habits. He gave it to me several Christmases ago and actually told me to use it for dice along with an apology for years of oppression

5. a brilliant crimson felt bag that came with a bunch of candy coins

6. a black plastic sleeve with ties on the end that housed a small umbrella

More important to me though than the dice bag is my book bag. It is a simple, plain beige Jansport backpack but it was a gift from my brother Matt who passed away later that year. I've had it since I was 17 and now, at 41 this bag is STILL going strong!

It's seen me through college, having 2 kids and countless games. I usually keep it full of game books but the front pocket has accumulated nick nacks for gaming like spare dice, plastic minis and rulers going back over the last 2 and a half decades.

I have several multi-compartment storage cases (very similar to these ones) to keep the dice sets apart. When I game away from home I carry a selection of dice in one of several bags from my collection from GBG, Dragon Chow and Etsy (two favourite crafters: Marsbarn Dice Bags and The DM's Wife ).

I plan to get one of those Duluth Trading clincher bags with multi compartments. Just the thing to hold those Tungsten dice I ordered from Kickstarter...

@Geistlinger,
I went to the link you posted and bought this bag. Its fits my status as a Killer GM #0706 since we are playing in Rappan Athuk, and have killed 3 PC's One I killed twice.

Two small bags, one inside the other, from two gaming stores that used to be in Oslo (only one of which is still around these days). The bags are getting old so I should get a new one soon.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

All of mine are homemade - I have

  • one sewn from thrifted leather elbow patches with a buckle from my grandmother-in-law's sewing collection,
  • one sewn for my husband from black velvet,
  • one cut from leather from an old purse and gathered/tied with ribbon,
  • one sewn from blue satin,
  • and five or six I've crocheted from odds and ends of yarn in the last three weeks, one of which went to my husband and another to a friend.
  • If I have enough yarn left over from the hat I'm working on, a knit and felted one is in order.
And I've played Pathfinder a grand total of a year and a half. I might have a problem. :)
