Power attack and Grappling

Rules Questions

Sovereign Court

Can I use power attack while in Grapple?

As the feat states I would take a minus to all attack rolls and plus to my damage rolls.

Just because I don't have to make a attack roll doesn't negate the bonus to damage rolls right?

Uhh... You DO have to make an attack roll each round to maintain Grapple, and if you want to use Power Attack, that penalty will apply to the Grapple Check:

Quote:
When you attempt to perform a combat maneuver, make an attack roll and add your CMB in place of your normal attack bonus. Add any bonuses you currently have on attack rolls due to spells, feats, and other effects.

But yeah, you can use it if you want, though Grappling isn't the best way to do damage in the first place obviously.

I'm talking when already In a grapple. Is maintaining a grapple still considered a attack?

Those rules are for ANY Maneuver. Maintaining a Grapple still requires a CMB check, which is an attack roll.
Maintaining a Grapple benefits from any relevant bonuses (Flanking) as well as any penalties (P. Attack).

I never thought of that. I knew other character could aid the grappler (giving him +2), but, to do that they'd have to be near the action, so they'd threaten the target, thus possibly flanking him.

Sovereign Court

it says maintaining is a standard action and you get + 5 to it also.

Then you have the option to do other actions.

one of those actions is apply dmg from natural weapons, small weap, spiked armor, ect.

Just wanted to clarify since it states its a standard action to maintain.

And besides good to know if you can take the extra points to damage rolls even if you don't have to make a attack roll for whatever reason
