"master is master, master has no name other than master!"
Male Elf Monk 1
"We're actually looking for Master Themon, do you know where he is?"
"There is also a corpse upstairs. Who is that?"
Btw, I am going on vacation from the 14th to the 18th. Will post after I get back. If there is combat, feel free to control my character.
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
ok
"who is Themon? Themon?" it looks as you say corpse "Master isn't Dead!"
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
"So, who is your master, then?"
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
"MASTER IS MASTER!"
(ok this thing is insane)
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
does this winged thing look hostile now, or just crazy?'
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
more crazy than hostile, but it does look a little hostile
Male Elf Monk 1
Aerian whispers to his comrades, "Perhaps we can find a way to calm it down. It might provide us with some useful intel."
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
Filleox has the Diplomacy skill, not me , he he
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
it flies back into the tower
M Human / Skeletal Champion Racial 2 + Cleric 2
I assume that once the winged goblinoid disappears into the tower, it can't hear us. Maybe I should whisper to the others.
"What can I tell that thing? If it turns out the dead body in the tower is this thing's 'master,' the greatest diplomat on Eox won't be able to calm it down. It will probably blame us. And by the way, can anyone figure out what that winged creature is? I would think it's some kind of outsider, except that it isn't bothered by the lack of air."
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
"I don't know, Filleox. This thing could be helpful to us, but if it wants to pick a fight, we can certainly oblige it. One thing for sure, it probably is nuts. I say we move on."
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
you guys can make a spot check...
M Human / Skeletal Champion Racial 2 + Cleric 2
Perception =1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
M Human / Skeletal Champion Racial 2 + Cleric 2
"Look. There are tracks. Someone else has been to the tower, and left. Maybe this 'master?'"
BTW, what kind of tracks are these? Do they look like they were made by humanoid feet? Skeletal feet? Or something else?
"I suggest that we follow those tracks. Maybe I should take the rear, in case we get attacked from behind by that winged goblinoid creature. Anyway, whoever takes the rear, we should try to keep Nalaliel and Wilhelm in the middle."
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
"Ok I will take the middle and guard Nalaliel and Wilhelm."
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
a mixture of hooved and skeletal humanoid feet tracks, on a close examination there probably 4 different sets of tracks
M Human / Skeletal Champion Racial 2 + Cleric 2
"Hm, if those four are together, and if they're hostile to us, and if Nalaliel and Wilhelm don't fight, then we'll be outnumbered...
"Nevertheless, it's the best lead I know of. I still think we should follow them. What do you think?"
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
"We don't have much of a choice, let's just be careful, though."
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
M Human / Skeletal Champion Racial 2 + Cleric 2
Unless Aerian (or possibly Nalaliel or Wilhelm) raises some objection - or offers some alternative suggestion - in pretty short order, then yes, we'll follow the tracks.
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
well you can also surch the town
M Human / Skeletal Champion Racial 2 + Cleric 2
Well, I wouldn't expect ulgulanoth to give us advice unless it's good...
...but I don't know. How thoroughly should we be searching this village? How many buildings are there? And how do we go about such a search? Should we dig up the remains of every building in the hopes of finding some clue or treasure underneath? I'm sure ulgulanoth isn't implying that we should spend a round searching each and every 5'X5' square of every ruined building in the village.
In fact - if you have no patience for inconsequential rambling then ignore the rest of this post - this is something I've always failed to understand. Some published adventures that take place in villages seem to be written under the premise that the PCs will visit each and every house and building (e.g. the cruicial lead can be found in one particular building which the PCs have no reason to visit.) Is that sort of thing expected of adventuring parties?
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
"We can always come back here, if the tracks lead nowhere."
M Human / Skeletal Champion Racial 2 + Cleric 2
"Suppose these tracks go on and on? How long - or how far - should we go on before coming back here? Not that we have any way of measuring time nor distance in this crazy age..."
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
"In my experience, tracks lead somewhere."
M Human / Skeletal Champion Racial 2 + Cleric 2
So we're both inclined to follow the tracks first.
You know, I had forgotten that Wilhelm - that is, the player playing Aerian, not the NPC Wilhelm - is on vacation. So if ulgulanoth wants to railroad us into searching the village first, he could just speak through Aerian... or through the NPC Wilhelm or Nalaliel, for that matter.
But I think it more likely that we're NOT being railroaded, but that ulgulanoth is hinting that we'd find something useful if we search the village first, and we're failing to take the hint.
But without all this metagame thinking, I'd be following the tracks, at least for a while. So that's my decision - again, unless Aerian, Wilhelm, or Nalaliel has something to say.

I forget which PbP it was in, but I posted a response calling this the 5:15, he he
For some reason, he is not sure why, he thinks leaving the village now would be a bad idea. "Maybe we can poke around here for a bit.
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
ok so following the tracks, its very easy at first but as the tracks start to go onto harder ground (hard stone) they become increasingly difficult to follow, at this point the town is no longer visible
if you will a survival check to keep following the tracks (or perception check at -4 if its better
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
Perception 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 - 4 = 10
M Human / Skeletal Champion Racial 2 + Cleric 2
Perception = 1d20 + 9 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 9 - 4 = 14
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
well you've both lost the tracks
M Human / Skeletal Champion Racial 2 + Cleric 2
ulgulanoth, did you make a Perception check for Aerian? Or should one of us do it?
How about Nalaliel?
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
i'll make their checks
Aerian
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Nalaliel
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
ah fair enough, Nalaliel spots the tracks, following them leads to a small well, wide enough to just squeeze through
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
ok, as you go down, you see a small craw space hidden from view from above, it leades to a small locked hatch
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
Philip checks it for traps, then will try to open it.
Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19, Disable Device 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
no traps, and you managed to open it fine
beyond is a small room, where two small skeleton creatures are sitting, their looking at you as you opened the door, their not saying anything
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
Philip wishes he was more eloquent, but he says to them, Hi there, we only wish to talk to you.
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
one of the skeletons waves at you, the other says "hi", it sounds a bit dumb
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
"Yeah, uhh, what are your names?"
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
the one first one says "we have no names" the other one just say "hi" again
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
"Have you ever been to the tower?"
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
first one "we have been to many towers"
second one "hi"
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
"Really, and what was the last tower you were at?"
He then looks at the second skeleton, and says "Hi"
male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3
"one in a village" first one
"hi" second one
Male Human (Skeletal Champion template) Rogue 2
"Uh huh, and who did you find in there?"
