Cavalier / Paladin Challenge / Smite

Can a multiclass Cavalier 1/Paladin 1 fighting a Lemure declare that Lemure as both the target of his Challenge and his Smite in the same round?

Or is a character strictly restricted to a single swift action per round?

You only have one swift action a round. Period, end of story. Allowing multiple swift actions is begging for all kinds of mechanical breakdowns, not the least of which is allowing three spells per round pre-Epic (there's a reason the ability to cast two quickened spells a round is an Epic feat).

Is cool. Although it might be worth a feat to make your smite target trigger your challenge at the same time, something to consider in the APG.

That'd be a very cool Complete Adventurer style multiclass feat.
