Radiant Servant of Sarenrae

Has anyone attempted to do a conversion of the Radiant Servant of Pelor PrC to PRPG? With all the changes to turning and the new Healing Domain power, I would imagine there would be a few changes...I have a character that is a cleric of Sarenrae with an 8 Dex, so he is NOT going to be able to go in the dervish direction, and he is pretty much playing his character like a Radiant Servant would under 3.5. I was hoping to offer him a specialty priest PrC along these lines if anyone has experimented or sketched anything out in this direction, I would love to see your ideas.

Not yet, but as it is one of my favorite PC for a cleric, I will take a shot at it...

I will only note the changes (so BAB and Save Progression remains the same)

Radiant Servant

Hit Die: D8 (as the BAB is medium)

Prerequisites
Alignment LG or NG (depends on deity; see below)
Base Save Bonus: Will +5
Skills: Heal 2 ranks, Knowledge (religion) 6 ranks
Feat: Extra Channel
Spells: Able to cast 1st level divine spells and access to the Sun domain
Special: You must have Iomedae or Sarenrae as patron deity

Class Skills: none

Class Features:

Radiance: When a RS casts a spell with the light descriptor, the spell is enhanced in power. This can have two possible effects, chosen when cast. The radius of the spell doubles, or the step between light and darkness shifts one additional step towards light. For example, a light spell cast in an area of darkness will grant normal light in a 40-ft area and dim light 40 ft outside that area, or bright light in a 20-ft area and normal light in a 20-ft area outside that area.

Extra Channel: The RS can channel positive energy 1 extra time each day at 1st level and every 3 levels thereafter, up to 4 times extra at level 10. (replaces extra greater turning at level 1)

Channel Positive Energy: RS levels stack with cleric level to calculate the amount of healing or damage of the Channel Positive Energy ability, and its saving throw. (replaces turn undead at level 1)

Divine Health: remains the same

Empowered Channeling: From 3rd level, 1/day, when a RS Channels positive energy, the amount of healing done or damage dealt is Empowered (x 1.5).(replaces empowered healing at 3rd level)

Aura of Warding: remains the same

Bonus Domain: A RS must choose the following domain as extra domain: Good or Glory (if deity is Iomedae), Good, Glory, or Healing (if deity is Sarenrae)

Maximize Channeling: From 6th level, 1/day, when a RS Channels positive energy, the amount of healing done or damage dealt is Maximized. This supersedes the Empowered Channeling ability. From 8th level, the RS can use this ability 2 times per day. (replaces maximized healing at 6th level)

Positive Energy Burst: From 8th level, the RS can use 2 Channel Positive Energy uses to simultaneously harm all undead in the area and heal living creatures in the area.

Supreme Channeling: At 10th level, when a RS Channels positive energy, the amount of healing is empowered and maximized. The RS can use this ability 2 times per day. This ability supersedes Maximize Channeling. (This replaces supreme healing at level 10)

Spells remain +1 CL per level...

This is my take on the Radiant Servant. It is clearly meant for Sarenrae, but I think Iomedae could have Radiant Servants as well, since she has both the glory and sun domains, which are key domains for this class. I put a x use per day on the empower, maximize, supreme channeling, because channeling is quite more powerful than ordinary domain healing spells. On the other side, healing spells use d8s and channeling d6s.

Calculation:
Level 6 cleric, level 10 RS with supreme channeling:
2/day: 12d6+16 (80 healing or damage - or both if using PEB)

Level 6 cleric, level 10 RS with supreme healing (using PF domain spells):

1/day: 1d6+1d3+5 (14 hp one target), 3d6+10 (28 hp one target), 4d6+15 (39 one target), 6d6+16 (52 one target), 1d6+1d3+16 (25 hp to 16 targets)

so sublime channeling is much better, so I put a x times per day. I first thought 3/day, but after above calculation, I changed it to 2/day.

A way of countering this rise in healing power is changing HD to d6 and BAB to weak (+1 every even level), or even making 1st and 6th level without spell progression...

I was just thinking it would be cool if you would have an Oracle with Sun Focus that would gain Channel ability as one of her focus powers. You could make a Radiant Servant of the Sun out of such a character.

Curse: Afraid of the Dark (receive a -2 penalty to attack rolls, saving throws and skill checks during the night, even with a full moon, and underground, except when standing in bright light / Gain following spells: scorching ray and light at level 5, flame strike and daylight at level 10, sunburst at level 15.

Something like that

Wow that was a lot of changes.

We use it in one game, and the changes were VERY minor.

Remember in PFRPG, PRCs don't get +2 to their good saves at the first PRC level, so the saves do change from 3.5e to PFRPG for PRCs.

True, I forgot actually checking this in the PF Core...

And James: the amount of changes happen imo because of the change in turning to channeling. About the healing domain, you can keep the empower/maximize/sublime healing in stead of changing it to channeling (because channeling does more) but it seemed to fit...

I play the class in 3.p game, I'm aware of the rules changes between 3.5 and 3.p rules. I was just saying we are not playing with as many unnecessary changes since most of the ones above are not needed.

I guess it comes down to whether or not there was a need to "boost" the Radiant Servant or not. We went a more "don't boost" route.

Pavlovian,

Thanks a ton for taking the time to write up the RSoP for Pathfinder, you have a far better handle on converting than I do. I am not sure about amping up the healing burst that much, I may have to do something different, especially if they take the healing domain and ALL their heals are maxed. Or it might balance just fine, its hard to tell at this point. I am just hmming about it at this point

James,

Can you post the version you are playing? I wouldn't mind having several takes on the RSoP to decide what to use as houserules in my current game.

Sure, changes:

1) Heal 2 ranks, KReligion 6 ranks (per Conversion doc)
2) Extra Channeling (per Conversion doc)
3) Stacks with Cleric for Channel effects since it grants Turn Undead(per Conversion doc)
4) Concentration not a class skill (per Conversion doc)
5) Positive Energy Burst uses two Channels. (per Conversion doc)

6) Radiance is identical in 3.p as 3.5 so no change needed. (RAW)
7) Bonus Domains gants one of his deity, Glory, or Purification; I took Pact domain (RAW)
8) Domains powers only use Cleric levels so RSoP levels do not stack for Domain powers but you do gain domain spells as you gain those spells levels (RAW)

9) NG and Sovereign Host (DM allowed non Pelor god)
10) Extra Greater Turning = max damage channel 2+CHA times a day. (DM change)

#1-#5 are covered in the Conversion Document.
#6-#8 are not changed in any way in the 3.5->3.p rules update, so use RAW.
#9-#10 are DM changes.

The only thing the DM had to "adjudicate" was the change to Extra Greater Turning. He allowed RSoP to grant Greater Turning 2+CHA (one less than in 3.5) and a Greater Turning in his game is max damage dice. So 7d6 = 42 damage (do not add Sun's Blessing damage.)

So basically 1 change from RAW in 3.p rules.

Simple, clean, not complexity.
