Mikka, there are three ghoul wolves clustered around Nadeq's body. There's one wolf each on your horse, Nadeq's horse, Rasina's horse, and Rasina. But everybody's reasonably close together; you could get everybody in a fireball blast.) One of the clustered ghoul wolves and the one on Rasina bear wounds.
Which wolf gets the lightning blast? Where are you centering the fireball

Mikka |

For some reason I can't read your last post Chris
Edit ok now it shows up
The blast of lightning slams down on one of the untouched wolves clustered around Nadeq.
If everyone is inside the 20ft radius she'll center it right in the middle at groundlevel so the cross section of the sphere gets everyone, otherwise the goal is to get as many wolves as possible and if at all possible exclude an ally (sorry Nadeq you're surrounded)

GM Chris Mortika |

The lightning blast strikes the undead thing (Saving throw for half: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7; sucks to be the ghoul wolf. But it's still up.)
Fireball goes off and everybody's at ground zero.
Wolf #1's saving throw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22; saves but dies anyways
Wolf #2's saving throw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19; saves but dies anyways; the call lightning made a difference.
Wolf #3's saving throw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22; injured
Wolf #4's saving throw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7; dies
Wolf #5's saving throw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18; injured
Wolf #7's saving throw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14; dies
Wolf #8's saving throw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12; dies
If Nadeq was alive, he certainly isn't now.
Nadeq's horse: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8; dies
Mikka's horse: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18; saves, but dies from fire in addition to wolf-inflicted wounds
Rasina's horse: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7; dies
Wolf #3 flees to the west.
Rasina, your turn.

Rasina Songhair |

Rasina wipes the gore off of her weapons, and walks over to the corpse of Nadeq. His lifeless body badly burned by Mikka's spell. She picks up the body without comment, and gives it a hug. She hugs the body for a few moments, and then she lays him down, and starts digging a shallow grave for him. She works like an automaton, does not look at her companions, and says nothing during the whole process.

Rasina Songhair |

What do you do with all his magical gear?
I had assumed his gear did not survive, but since she can cast Detect Magic, she will recover the magical gear.
Rasina looks over to Mikka, and there is no emotion in her eyes, as she stares at the human lady, she looks back at the remains of her best friend, then returns to her task.

Mikka |

Done, in profile
Mikka will rise with the dawn and spend time communing with Freya. She will retrieve Nadeq's body and begin the ritual required to cas one of the most pwerfel spells she caan calling his valiant spirit back as the magic of the natural re-creates his body, drawing power throught the young druidess.

Rasina Songhair |

Sigh, another great bit of RP ruined by the presence of a reincarnate spell
Rasina spends the rest of the night sitting by herself, and as dawn starts to break, soon her sobs start racking her body, and she finally lets the barriers damming her emotions down. As Mikka prepares to bring Nadeq back, she is mostly composed and only a few tear marks, can be seen.

I think it's the caster's roll so here goes.
1d100 ⇒ 39
Uhm...damn. Goblin....uhm....sorry dude.

Veren Baccus |

Sheesh a lot happened while I was sleeping
Reflex Save 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Nadeq isn't forced to return by the spell; if he chooses to rest (and come back as someone new) then the spell fails. ...though he might like the really high Dex score.
"Mikka, can you use your healing skills to patch us up a bit?" Heal skill to treat serious injury, DC 20, to gain hitdie in hp.

GM Chris Mortika |

Mikka, you might want to hold onto the reincarnate spell for a bit.
You know that it uses the very land around the caster as raw materials for the new body. And Richard was almost overwhelmed when he cast detect undead here and discovered that the Ashen Wastes themselves are undead.
Having said that, on the eastern horizon, just to the left of the rising sun, there appears to be a small oasis, with greenery and trees.

Veren Baccus |

"An oasis? In this place? Colour me suspicious - but I think that's a little creepy. But you're right, it is the most likely place for the living to go."
Veren looks mournfully at his reserves. "If I ration myself, maybe I can make these last for a week. Baccusbreath, this place is the pits." And with that he carefully stows away the remnants of his liquor.
Mikka, please spare a moment to roll (or take 10) us some "treat deadly wounds". I think we'll recover 7 + 5 = 12hp if you take 10.

Rasina Songhair |

Let me get this straight, we risked our lives for this rambling drunk, a guy who would have propositioned me when I was performing in Bard's Gate or any of the other taverns and hostels I found my self in? What the hell was I thinking? If he doesn't stop talking about his precious booze, he's gonna find a few leaks in his bottles, if I have anything to say about it!

Veren Baccus |

Much obliged Mikka :)
Sense Motive 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12
Veren fails to notice the mood. "That's great work Mikka, thanks. You two - how far do you wager is the oasis? Will we make it by noon? It doesn't look like there's much between us and it."
Veren stares at Nadeq's body, sadness mingled with a little doubt. "I don't mind carrying him, it's the least I can do - but are you sure you can give him a new body? This nature magic is strange to me - I've only ever encountered it in wild tribes, shamans and suchlike. Usually I've been on the receiving end of it."

Rasina Songhair |

Rasina stifles a retort which would do little good, and would cause much harm. "Veren, I don't know how far it is, distances are hard to judge, but we should leave now. Mikka, can you leave a trail marker for the others, in case they come looking for us. Since we lost our horses, we will be moving slower than the others and we want to make it easier for them to find us."

GM Chris Mortika |

What's the ground like?
A combination of bleached white sand and ground bone. The kind of sand you can use in an hourglass.
Knowledge (nature) (DC 20)

Mikka |

Knowledge Nature 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
Mikka stares at the ground, looking at the sand and bone and shaes her head. Silently she reaches into the quiver slung across he back and draws out a feather planting itts quill into the ground. As she steps back there is almost an explosion as a 60ft oak tree erupts from the spot to stand majestically in the midst of the Desolation, 40ft around at the top.

GM Chris Mortika |

Well, that will certainly be easy to spot for a distance.
--+--+--
You head off towards the green area, carrying Nadeq's body, but not the horse tackle. You plough through the desert sands, and after about an hour, you come to the edge of ... something you weren't expecting.
Through the continuous chalky haze, emerges a strangely out-of-place sight, verdant plant life, trees, and lush foliage — a seeming mirage in the wasteland. However, the vision doesn’t waver as you approach, proving it to be no mirage. Whitish dust steals the luster from the fringes of this green zone, but beyond the edges you see the vivid greens of leaves and vibrant colors of flowers and plants undiminished by the dust. Squawks of birds and the occasional animal call rise from this apparent paradise.

GM Chris Mortika |

Mikka, you cast the spell ...
What transpires between goddesses isn't for your eyes or mind, but you get the sense of conflict. Nadeq's spirit is already claimed, but the other goddess is willing to make an extraordinary negotiation. There is an exchange of vows.
Nadeq's spirit comes forth, accompanied by a terrible goblin battle-maiden wearing the tabard of Hel, goddess of the underworld. The goblin takes Nadeq by the shoulders, looks him in the eyes, and says something severe to him. In response, he sheds his halfling features as if they were blown away by a great wind. What remains of his spirit is yours for the taking...
...and the ground erupts, stones stretching into bone, roots knotting themselves into muscle tissue, leaves and grass and sand and dirt all rushing together and building a body. A small green body. The comatose form of a naked male goblin stands before you. At the conclusion of the spell, he opens his eyes.

Veren Baccus |

Veren looks at Mikka questioningly, then rushes over to the goblin's body - lifting him up and using an unnecessarily loud voice: "Nadeq!? Is that you!? Are you okay?! Mikka reincarnated you! Can you understand me!?"
This place, I suspect that we might find the remains of the angel here. I can think of few other things that can resist the taint of the desolation like this.

Rasina Songhair |

Rasina stares at the naked form of her old friend, and companion, after this and wonders whether she could handle becoming a goblin. Still, that was her friend in spirit in the ugly form, and she would not abandon him in any respect, especially since this was ALL her fault.
"Nadeq, can you hear me, are you ok?"
