The chitterling noise increases echoing from within the field of stone pillars focusing everyone’s attention that direction as roaches the size of Dobermans advance, except for Flint who hears the faint flapping of leathery wings to the rear.
4 Stirges arise from wrecked houses and a horse sized beetle bursts up from the trail to the north in an attempt to surprise the group but Flint’s warning prevents them succeeding.

Warforged Fighter 11

As Flint begins to yell a warning, with barely a syllable yet uttered, Mountain dashes forth to the first creature he sees. His mace finds his hand and swiftly moves downward in a simple strike, made more out of haste than any tactical reaction.

Charge from N28 to K31. Standard Attack with mace.31 vs. AC on Stirge #4 (J31), 16 damage on hit. Mark if I hit, and slide the stirge into I31, moving into the space it exits.


Quicker than his size should allow, Mountain charges a Strige bating it it with his mace sending it tumbling back a few feet before recovering.

Typhus gazes out at the insects arrayed around them and smiles. "I have heard the sounds of the music of these beasts. I will eat their souls and drink from their eyes."

Typhus curses the roach #2 and uses his Chaos Bolt against him.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 vs Will with Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 2d6 ⇒ (5) + 5 + (2, 3) = 15 psychic damage.

He then moves three squares north to O24 and gains concealment until his next turn.


Typhus’ bolt misses as he takes a few steps and hides in plain sight.

Stirges 3 and 4 swarm Mountain attempting to latch on to him.

"I hate bugs!" Flint screams as he flys towards the biggest bug he's ever seen.

Flint charges the large beetle and sinks his dagger deep into its thorax leaving a gash seeping an oily black fluid.

The beetle clacks it’s mandibles at Flint menacingly before great wings spring from it’s sides.
The wings flap into a heavy drone and the beetle lifts off flying over Flint and the stone spike to position itself to spit a ball of glowing red spittle at the space between Ferdinand and Rennik. Spittle splatters the surrounding squares with burning acid.

You get an AP for every two encounters you have. If you take an extended rest you lose the extra APs.

Edit: I also assume that the party spent HS to get up to full HPs.

I thought we did take a short rest. Besides, aren't milestones supposed to be every two encounters without an extended rest between them?

Ferdinand draws his tratnyr and, with both hands, attempts to run the nearest stirge through. Meanwhile, runes begin to activate on Mountain's armor, strengthening his defense.

Moving to N23, using Magic Weapon, then using Resistive Formula on Mountain. (+1 AC, he can end effect as minor action to get HS+6 Temp HP to himself and one ally within 5 squares). Also, remember I used Arcane Empowerment on Mountain's weapon earlier, so he can add +2 to one attack roll after he rolled it today. EDIT: I'm assuming I already had my tratnyr out. 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 291d8 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

Flint has 71HP of a possible 76HP, didn't want to waste a healing surge for 5HP.
Malick, I just went for the big bug first because it hadn't yet acted in combat, hence combat advantage, so it was a logical choice to get Sneak Attack damage and extra damage from my Short Sword. I didn't want to waste extra damage on measely little Roaches. I'll help with the stirges now.

Gonna try to keep some of these guys at bay...

Rennik sends shadowy assailants to two of the bugs to slow their progress.

Grasping Shadows centered on U20. Against Roach 1 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24, against Roach 2 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25 vs Will. 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 psychic damage and on a hit they are slowed. "Shadows writhe in the designated area and continue until the end of your next turn. Any creature that enters the area of the grasping shadows takes psychic damage equal to your Intelligence modifier and is slowed until the end of its next turn." On a hit, they will also grant combat advantage to the next ally that hits them before the start of my next turn.

Move to Q24.


Milestones:
You gain certain benefits when you reach a milestone when you complete two encounters without stopping for an extended rest (see page 263).
So you have reached a milestone and survived two encounters, you still only get one extra AP.

Ferdinand moves up and engages Stirge #2 piercing a wing, eliciting a chitterling squeal of pain.

Flint’s OA misses as the beetle flies just out of reach of his dagger.

Malick rallies the party to keep their focus as he moves into position to attack Stirge #2. Malick’s halberd cuts off one of the beasties wings blooding it.

Black tentacles reach up at Rennik’s command lashing out at the two roaches ripping their antennae. Leaving the tentacles to do their work Rennik maneuvers further away from the approaching Stirges.

Roaches 1 and 2 struggle out of Rennik’s tentacles but can’t close any more due to their slowed condition.

Roaches 3 and 4 spring forward and attack Rennik
Roach #3, attack vs. reflex 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 Miss
Roach #3, attack vs reflex 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25 damage = 2d4 + 9 ⇒ (2, 3) + 9 = 14 and is knocked prone.

As the second roach launches its attack on Rennik, he diverts its attack by quickly putting up a shield of force about his form.

As an immediate interrupt, Rennik activates his Shield spell to gain a +4 to AC and Reflex. The second roach's attack becomes a miss, and Rennik is still standing.

Abruptly changing direction, Malick moves to attack the spitting bug.

Rennik cautiously backs away from the roach in front of him and weaves a powerful illusion over the three roaches further away to keep them at bay. All about them is certain death, so they feel most secure right where they are.

Shift to O25. Visions of Ruin centered on T20. Roach 1: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31 vs Will. Roach 2: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21 vs Will. Roach 3: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20 vs Will.

Visions of Ruin:
Effect: The burst creates a zone of illusory safety. A target that is forced to leave the zone takes 2d8 + Intelligence modifier psychic damage, and this effect ends for it. The zone lasts until no creature is subject to this effect. [This applies on a hit or a miss.]

Hit: The target is affected by visions of ruin (save ends). While affected by visions of ruin, it cannot voluntarily leave the zone, and it does not have line of sight to targets outside the zone.
Miss: Until the end of your next turn, the target cannot voluntarily leave the zone, and it does not have line of sight to targets outside the zone.

Action Point: Rennik sends a bolt of illusory power at one of the roaches in the zone.

Phantom Bolt on Roach 3. 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27 vs will. 1d8 + 17 ⇒ (8) + 17 = 25 psychic damage (includes bonus from Malick's presence). Slide to T22. 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (8, 6) + 9 = 23 damage from the zone (this is an effect of the zone itself, not of the attack from the daily, so it applies even if the daily attack missed this one.)

Rennik then vanishes from sight. (Paragon Path feature. Invisible until the end of my next turn.)


Renniks viscous mental assault on the roaches bloodies #3 and mentally traps #1 and #2.

Roach #4 lunges at Typhus attempting to knock him down, 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32.
Roach #4 knocks down Typhus bites down hard on his leg causeing 2d4 + 9 ⇒ (1, 2) + 9 = 12 damage and begins to drag Typhus back into the stones.

So uhh, how do I get these things off? Just a save, or the Athletics vs. Fort or what?


Make an Acrobatics check vs. Reflex or an Athletics check vs. Fortitude against the creature or effect that immobilized (grabbed) you.

I'll assume that it one per monster and do two of them then. Also, I apologize for the delay, but my allergies have been driving me mad this week.

23 vs. Fortitude for one, 29 vs. Fortitude for the second

Simple cleave attempt at #4 if I get him off me, or #3. Cry in a corner if they both stay on.

17 vs. AC; 13 damage if I hit, 4 damage to the other

Sorry but breaking a grab is a standard action, you can attempt to get one off of you or attack but not both. You didn't move so I will allow both attempts at breaking their hold on you but not the attack.

Mountain pulls the bloodsuckers off of him and flings them away but the nasty bitters just fly back to harass him again.

Mountain - +1 AC, he can end effect as minor action to get HS+6 Temp HP to himself and one ally within 5 squares, +2 to one attack roll after he rolled it today.

Mountain, I'm not sure if it's legal, but why not use the power listed for you above the initiative order? If grabbed is an effect then you can end one of the grabs as a minor action and do some healing in the process. Just a suggestion

Uh, the effect referred to is the +1 to AC from Resistive Formula.

Malick's planning to force move him out of there this turn if he can. Had to set up the position first, but hopefully should get him clear.


Typhus will use Ethereal SLide to teleport to P25 to avoid the horrid little insects.
