It looks great! I can't wait to read through it this weekend.

Liberty's Edge

First, I would like to thank Lilith, hugo, and all who made this possible.

Second, the art for my story, "What Comes Back", absolutely ROCKS! YEEHA!

Third, I sent a copy of WF3 to my sons. Now they think I'm cool again. :)

Fourth, Lilith, if you're moving to the Baltimore-Washington area, I'll be happy to lend a hand once we dig ourselves out of this snow.

How did you get a copy of WF3?! That is cool. Did I make it into that one? And if so what story did I write?

I'm really enjoying the fiction in this issue - there are a lot of really good short stories!

This looks great :) However, I have one gripe:

Spoiler:
Not to be overly negative, but - what's up with the Pathlosers comic? I mean, one of my players told me today that he skimmed through the magazine and basically hit one giant Second Darkness AP SPOILER in the strip on pg. 58. I mean, it should be possible to create comic strips that don't do that, right? Especially if Wayfinder's intended audience encompasses all users of paizo.com, GMs and players alike.

This Issue is even better than the first!
Congratulations to all who worked on this.

Now I don't want to work through all the 612 posts to check if that has been brought up before:

What about making Wayfinder available as a PoD product? I dealy love a dead tree product. And as the content is free, we would only have to pay for the printing. 80+ pages full colour will be kind of expensive, but I am more than willing to shell out about USD 20 (or about 15 EUR) for this.

They've been talking about getting Wayfinder #2 up on Hulu, so I think it's only a matter of time now.

Believe me, as one of the cover artists, I'm eager to get a physical copy myself. I gots people to mail copies to. :D

The comic is really cool and funny, but it does let out a huge spoiler... We will continue to make comics, we'll just try not to spoil the game for DMs/PCs that bad :P

One more gripe, this time from me: this issue was FULL of typos. Lots of 'em. Buckets, even.

Since we're mentioning typos, I wanted to point something out about the story, "Deacon and the Devil." The character in that story is Deacon, not "the" Deacon. The extraneous "the" towards the end of the story was accidentally appended at some point during the editorial process.

I know that's a rather minor item to bring up, but Deacon's exact name and title have significance in potential future stories involving Deacon and his comrade, Draymore. The fact that Deacon is referred to as "Deacon" (as opposed to "the Deacon") is an important part of the dynamic between those two characters. (Not that the Wayfinder editors had any way of knowing that.)

Epic Meepo wrote:

Precisely. What the editors see is what is on the page, and while all the editors did an awesome job (for free), they can't know what you were thinking when you were writing it, or what your intentions are for the character in the future. What They See Is What You Gave Them.

My biggest gripe is that the PathfinderWiki ad we worked really hard on making look good (even going so far as to design a new logo) was omitted. I hope it can be added to the pdf before it would be submitted to Lulu for PoD.

Hence the post expanding upon my story with additional, never-before-seen information.

It's my job to generate new and re-imagined content. The editors did their entirely-different job nicely.

This was a simple layout error that never got caught; it's not a slight against the Pathfinder Wiki in any way. The problem has been corrected and will appear in the revised version that will be loaded to the website when Vick is feeling better and returns to work.

I actually didn't realize the comic was related to Second Darkness at all until now, not having played through the whole campaign yet.

Awesome. I figured it wasn't intentional, but I wasn't sure if there were plans to update the pdf. Glad to hear there are :-D

We hope next time the writters will double check their articles. The editors polish the articles but can't fix the entire thing 'lest they quit their jobs and dedicate themselves full time to Wayfinder...

SO please be more careful with your articles. If we spot typos/errors/etc, we will fix'em, but please understand that we are dealing with dozens of articles, authors, artists, ads, and graphic design and we are only like 7 people working on hour spare time on this. So errors do get pass by us and we produce our own share :P Of course we apreciate you pointing these to us so that we can fix what we can.

See the first post in this thread. Any larger projects will have to be reviewed and approved by me.

I checked my submissions for typos several times, and didn't find any, but when I checked them against the published version, I found errors that were not originally there, as well as bits of sentences that had been removed.

Liberty's Edge

I discovered that parts of my illustration somehow changed in the final version. In my original, the main figure was a Gnome pirate ninja, but in the final version he mysteriously changed into a young Ulfen warrior ...

Just kidding :0

My art is always chock-full of typos. I actually only speak Esperanto, and I have the Internets translate for me, so it comes out kinda garbled.

Sorry about that, guys. :P

I can recommend Mr. Crenshaw, on the basis of having to strain to find anything to edit in his entry (this happened more than once this year, but his stood out).

Wow. Thanks for editing my entry, Majuba. I do my best to submit clean copy, but I also made sure the piece got at least a few editorial passes from other folks before I submitted it.

As a member of both the Pathfinder Chroniclers and the Wily Writers, I have the support of some very talented people.

<unsolicited advice>For those of you interested in submitting to Wayfinder #3 or doing any kind of writing for publication, I highly encourage seeking out writers groups.</unsolicited advice>

And just to make sure the thread doesn't get back on track too soon:
I'd buy TWO Zon-zon dolls for my daughters. I mean, therapy's not that expensive is it? ;) Seriously, though, I loved the "Crystalhue" article, and the Zonzon tradition is both touching and fabulously creative.

Hey, if you are talking about your monsters, I was the first editor on that one. I’m busier than a rot grub in a pile of filthy cultists right now, but when I can take a breath, I’ll go over your original, my edit, and the final product and shoot you an email. Sound good?

For you:

Spoiler:
Typos are terribly embarrassing, and if that’s the case and it’s my fault, I apologize before even re-checking the documents, though I will again. Now, I’ve got a bit of experience with monsters, but I’m not infallible. If something in the statblock or how a special ability was worded was changed, that’s just part of editing. Absolutely nothing I’ve ever written that has gone through publication wasn’t changed in some way. I’ve seen errors slip in after edits, and I’ve had editors and developers catch huge freakin’ mistakes I’ve made that seemed perfectly reasonable when I wrote them. Anyway, soon as I kick these deadlines’ asses, I’ll go back over your stuff and see what happened and give you feedback.

There appears to be a problem with the pdf download. The following excerpt from what I take to be part of the text of the play 'Burnt Offerings' appears twice in the last article, between pages 76 and 79:

FINN
Hey Milosh, how did the test go? (MILOSH’s mood goes dark)
Did you get into the garrison?
AMEIKO
Finn.
FINN
You’re going to be working with your dad?
MILOSH
I didn’t make it. Gabe got it.
AMEIKO
Milosh...

There was only one slot this year.
FINN
But you’re twice the swordsman as Gabe or even Ameiko’s

My dad, excuse me, SHERIFF Hemlock, doesn’t think I’m ready.
AMEIKO
Don’t worry about it. We all know...
MILOSH
Don’t worry about it? Don’t worry about it? That’s easy
for you to say. You’re no older than me and your dad gives
you a tavern.
AMEIKO
Milosh Hemlock! My daddy didn’t give me a thing. This was
my mother’s family’s tavern and you know it.

Good catch, Charles!

If the duplicate text is cut, the remainder could be shuffled forward, allowing for a foreword, explaining the background to the play, and crediting the name of the school and teacher who adapted it.
I think that's important, as not everyone will have read the blog, or be aware of how this play came about.

I feel like a jerk now. Sorry. Still, though, your plan sounds good. Also, if need be, I could do some proofreading for Wayfinder #3. I've always been a stickler about spelling and grammar, and I'm reasonably good at catching typos and awkward sentences.

Hello?

Liberty's Edge

Hugo has convinced me to maybe do some artwork for this one, so I'm tentatively in.

Also, as I mentioned on the Wayfinder #2 thread, I'd like to get into some of the editing aspect for Wayfinder #3. I've always been a stickler about spelling and grammar (at least, as far as print media go), and I could help combat some of the issues that were present in Wayfinder #2.
