I really don't get the end?
Is Drawmij's Instat Summons an insider joke ?
Drawmij is one of the 'classic wizards' of D&D, along with Bigby, Mordenkainen, Tensor, Rary, Ottiluke, and a few others. Instant Summons is one of his spells.
Also a requirement to appear in court is a subpeona, also called a 'summons'.
I know, not as funny when you have to explain it. Call it an 'old school' joke.
for another in-joke, spell Dramij backwards.

I don't know why Matthew Morris put that in a spoiler button, but I'll respect his wishes by replying in like fashion.

(I took the liberty of editing that quote, but that's not the reason I'm replying.)
And if you find that interesting, check this out.

Not bad so much as obscure. :-)

Grognard Trivia Question!
Of the named wizards in the spell lists in the PHB, who is not a character in the game?
Gee...
My next thought was Evard, which Gary Gygax said was just a name he created. Is that it?

Ah going to be more difficult than I thought, since they put him in retroactively.
Let me rephrase it then... Which named spells derive the name from the *player* and not the character.
All I can think of now is the one that started this whole discussion, Drawmij's Instant Summons. At least, SOME sources claim that Jim Ward's character at the time was named Bombidell, not Drawmij, so MAYBE the character Drawmij was created only after the spell was.
