With an explosive burst of strength, Bryson punches up at the heavy table pressing down on him and breaks it in half! Slowly he stands up, splinters and coins showering off of him and making him look to the thugs like a god of war.

With the weight suddenly lessend, Bindlplotz stands up. (Thug 4 is too startled to take advantage of the AoO). Then attacks Thug #4 with is bayonet.
Bayonet attack: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 + 2 = 20 Hit.
Bayonet damage: 1d6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 2 = 8 points of damage. Thug 4 drops dead.

Thug 8 just stands there, dazed at Annies touch.

End round 1.

Round 2

Thugs 4 & 5 are down;
Spinnaker Jon is still stuck under his half of the table; wedged it looks like.
Thug 1, sweating heavily now makes a more cautious approach to Bryson.
Shortsword attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Wild miss. The guy is having the worst day.

Next up:
Dgrim-- 14
Annie-- 12

Here is a MAP.

Male Dwarf Shielded Fighter 5

Dgrim sets his feet and hacks at thug 7.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
1d10 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Female Human Cleric 6 {HP: 37 /37 AC: 21}

As none of her friends are yet injured, Annie again reaches out to touch the thug in front of her, hoping to hold him in place and stop him from using the crank. If she can hold him helpless long enough, they can take him prisoner and maybe find out more about what he knows of this complex.

Dazing Touch Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

Curious about what the crank might do, Annie turns a bit sideways toward the water to take a quick look at the crank off to her side. Maybe it had a label or was hooked to some chain she could follow to find its purpose.

Annie will spend her move action looking at the crank in an attempt to figure out its purpose. Is there any skill check she can attempt?

Dgrim winds up and executes a mighty hack that would have cut thug 7 completely in half if he hadn't ducked.

Annie reaches out and touches Thug 8 again, who still stands amazed at the awesomeness that is Gull Street Annie.
Glancing back at the crank...

Knowledge (Engineering) DC15:

Looks like some kind of hydraulic valve control. Used for controlling the influx or draining of large amounts of water through piping.

Thug 7 draws a knife as well as his shortsword and does a double weapon attack, since he's too heavy to knock into the water.
Shortsword attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4, wild miss.
Dagger attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14, glances off of armor.

Thug 6 finishes climbing back onto the platform, draws his weapons and moves to engage that bastard Ghirrak [moved too far to make an attack this round].

Thug 2 and 3 glance at each other and nod. They simultaneously go to attack Bindlplotz, clearly the weakest enemy.
Thug 2 Shortsword attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18, Hit! Damage is 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 points.
Thug 3 Shortsword attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23, Hit! Damage is 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 points.

The thugs do a victory dance over Bindlpotz before turning their attentions to Bryson.

Next up:
Bryson-- 7
Ghirrak-- 7
Bindlplotz-- 4
Ravtahl-- 4
Thug 8-- 4

Half Fiend Half Elf Druid 8| HP 94/94| AC 22 (25), FF 19 (22), Touch 14| Fo +10 Re +5 Wi +12; SR 20| Init +3| Percep +23, Darkvision 60', Low-Light Vision| Wildshape 3/3, Destructive Smite 9/9

Bryson snarls as he lunges at thug 1.

Scimitar 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Confirm crit 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Hopefully, the rest of the thugs reconsider their line of thinking.

Bryson effortlessly cuts through a defensive arm as he runs his sword right through Thug #1 stomach, out his back, and withdraws again in a single motion you didn't quite see. In one final bit of bad luck, thug #1 drops dead.

Female Human Cleric 6 {HP: 37 /37 AC: 21}

As she is untrained in Engineering, Annie auto-fails to understand what the crank might do.

Male Half-orc Monk (Iron Mountain) 8 |HP: 60/61 | AC:26 Current 29, T 19, FF 21 | Fort: +9 Ref:+10 Will:+12 (+14 Enchantment) |CMB +12 (+16 grapple), CMD 25 (27) | Init+3 | Perc +13 | Ki Pool 9/9

Ghirrak locks eyes with the thug, obviously too stupid to learn from his dowsing. The muscular half orc launches into a run that ends in a flying leap that plants a knee into the soaked fool's face.

Charge, flying knee strike
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Ghirrak's knee impacts Thug #6 face with an audible cruch, and he flops awkwardly down; dead.

Ravtahl (npc'd) hisses, winds up his Greataxe and lets fly with Hand of the Apprentice. The axe flies through the air...
Greataxe attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 which just hits.
Greataxe damage: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 points of damage; a serious graze, but he's still up. The axe then curves around and lands in Ravtahl's hands with a thump.

And of course Thug#8 is still standing there fascinated with Annie. Not than anyone could blame him.

Round 3

Thug 4-- 20 [dead]
Thug 5-- 20 [dead]

Thug 1-- 15 [dead]

Annie-- 12

Female Human Cleric 6 {HP: 37 /37 AC: 21}

Doesn't Bindlplotz still have 1 hit point? Either way, Annie will abandon her guard of the crank to try too keep Bindlplotz from bleeding out.

"No!" Annie cried as she saw Bindlplotz struck twice. Abandoning her guard of the crank and the thug she'd been holding helpless, she ran on magically quick feet to the space by Ghirrak, just behind Bindlplotz's small form - making sure to give the thug engaged in snarling combat with Dgrim a wide enough berth to avoid stray blows. She crouched beside Bindlplotz and sacrificed one of Cayden Cailean's blessings for healing magic for her small friend.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Male Dwarf Shielded Fighter 5

Dgrim raises his axe overhead and brings it down on thug #7.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Still injured from the fight upstairs? I believe so.

"Thankee lass"

Annie is relieved to see blood no longer fountaining from Bindlplotz' wounds, and you see him start to breathe again.

Dgrim brings his axe down in a flash and cleaves Thug #7's head in twain. Gruesomely.

Next up:
Thug 7-- 12 [dead]
Thug 6-- 9 [dead]
Thug 2-- 8
Thug 3-- 8
Bryson-- 7
Ghirrak-- 7
Bindlplotz-- 4
Ravtahl-- 4
Thug 8-- 4

Fresh from their victory dance over Bindlplotz, Thug 2 and 3 glance at each other and nod. They simultaneously step to attack Bryson, gonna do to him what they did to Bindlplotz.
Thug 2 Shortsword attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16, Miss! Fended off by Bryson's shield.
Thug 3 Shortsword attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12, Miss! Armor stopped.

Next...
Bryson-- 7
Ghirrak-- 7
Bindlplotz-- 4
Ravtahl-- 4

Bryson attacks #2.
Scimitar 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Thug #2 reels back and drops unconscious from Bryson's slash.

[npc]Ghirrak leaps over Bindlplotz and Annie to kick Thug #3.
Boot to the head: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 and just misses.

[npc]Bindlplotz relaxes in unconciousness, dreaming of more volatile black powder.

[npc]Ravtahl again uses hand of the apprentice.
Greataxe attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 direct hit!
Greataxe damage: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 which cuts him down.

Thug 8, shakes his head and lunges at the wheel. Spinning it furiously, you hear the whoosh of water moving through large pipes.
Out in the pool, you can see water pouring from pipes around the perimeter, rising the level of the water rapidly.

Perception DC15:
You see ripples as of a large creature moving stealthily underwater in the pool.

ROUND 4
Initiatives--

Crocodile-- 20
Spinnaker Jon--18
Dgrim-- 14
Annie-- 12
Bryson-- 7
Ghirrak-- 7
Bindlplotz-- 4
Ravtahl-- 4
Thug 8-- 4

You all see the water level rising rapidly, and the creature in the water is revealed to be a large saltwater crocodile. The water level will reach the platform next round.

CLICK for the map.

Bryson's action is dependant on what the others have done by the time he gets to go.

If someone has attacked the croc, he will join in with an Icicle then move into melee.
Icicle 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 Damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

If Annie is threatened by the Croc he will charge into melee
Scimitar 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

If no one has attacked the croc he will try to steer it's appetite towards the downed thugs rather than his friends.
Wild Empathy 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
First time for everything.

Female Human Cleric 6 {HP: 37 /37 AC: 21}

Annie will say, whenever she is allowed: "Stop the water! Turn the crank the other way!"

Then she will move up behind thug #8 (by the platform to avoid blocking the way to the crank) and attempt another dazing touch to prevent him from interfering with the party as soon as she is within reach of him.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

** spoiler omitted **

did I miss something? Annie healed me and I was at 1 HP, so I should be at 11.

Bindlplotz readies his musket once he sees the Crocodile, if the table was righted after it was pulled off of him, he'll climb on top of it.

Sorry, thought you were way into the negatives there.

Male Dwarf Shielded Fighter 5

I'll delay actions until after Annie attacks the thug.

Dgrim runs up behind the remaining thug and attempts to finish him.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Round 4

Crocodile-- 20
Just waits this round. The water rises rapidly, but it's still 5 feet below the lip of the observation chamber.

Spinnaker Jon--18
Tries to use Escape Artist to get out. 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 Fails.

Annie-- 12
Moves up behind thug #8 and makes another dazing touch against the hapless thief, who falls prey again.

Dgrim-- 14
Dgrim runs up behind the remaining thug and attempts to finish him, but misses.

Bryson-- 7
will try to steer the crocs appetite towards the downed thugs by moving one to the edge of the platform and wiggling it, attracting its attention.

Ghirrak-- 7
[npc] Takes a defensive stance.

Bindlplotz-- 4
Bindlplotz readies his musket and takes aim at the croc.

Ravtahl-- 4
[npc] Expresses disgust as he raises his axe and demolishes the table half pinning Spinnaker Jon.

Thug 8-- 4
Stands dazed. Again.

Round 5

Crocodile-- 20
The water reaches the lip of the platform, and the crock makes an explosive lunge at the thief's body that Bryson is wiggling. The croc then spends the round gulping the thief down whole.

Spinnaker Jon-- 18
Stands up, readies a lightning spark at the sight of the croc.

Next up:
Dgrim-- 14
Annie-- 12
Bryson-- 7
Ghirrak-- 7
Bindlplotz-- 4
Ravtahl-- 4
Thug 8-- 4

Female Human Cleric 6 {HP: 37 /37 AC: 21}

Annie growls a frustrated curse as the crank isn't turned to stop the flow of water. She abandons her attempts to hold off the thug so her allies can turn the crank, takes a step forward and turns the crank the other way herself.

I don't know if that will provoke an attack of opportunity or what, but we can't survive in the water with a crocodile, whether he eats the thugs first or not. I'll eat whatever attack of opportunity might come to turn off the flow of water.

Half Fiend Half Elf Druid 8| HP 94/94| AC 22 (25), FF 19 (22), Touch 14| Fo +10 Re +5 Wi +12; SR 20| Init +3| Percep +23, Darkvision 60', Low-Light Vision| Wildshape 3/3, Destructive Smite 9/9

Pointing to the last standing thug. "Git him into the water!" Bryson then goes to get another thug to feed to the croc. "Which of you is Captain Hook?"
Continuing to make 'nice' with the crocodile
Wild Empathy 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

The crank turns relatively easily in Annies hands, and spending a full round turning it frantically, she manages to stop the flow of water. When the crank finally hits full stop, the water is about ankle deep in the room.

Looking across the distance to the standing thug, Ghirrak produces his silvered dagger, sending it hurtling end over end to blossom in the man's chest
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

The thief jerks and collapes with the dagger buried in his throat, hitting the edge of the platform before splashing back into the pool.
The croc, who had been finding Bryson far more interesting than the thug he was wiggling, snaps his head around and smoothly surges forward and down into the water where the plume of blood was rising.

Spinnaker Jon says "Lets get the %$#% out of here mateys!" Then runs back up to the corridor.
Ravtahl just nods and follows more leisurely.

Half Fiend Half Elf Druid 8| HP 94/94| AC 22 (25), FF 19 (22), Touch 14| Fo +10 Re +5 Wi +12; SR 20| Init +3| Percep +23, Darkvision 60', Low-Light Vision| Wildshape 3/3, Destructive Smite 9/9

Bryson waits for Annie to leave then follows her.
"Come on!"

Ghirrak guards the rear ensuring the rest of the group clear out safely before leaving the room himself.

Female Human Cleric 6 {HP: 37 /37 AC: 21}

Annie, seeing Ghirrak's dagger fly into the water with the last thug, looks around desperately for any dropped edged weapon that is on her way out of the room.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

If she sees either a shortsword or a dagger, she will stop on her way out of the room to grab it. Otherwise she will simply leave the room.

Male Dwarf Shielded Fighter 5

Dgrim hastily waddles out of the room.

The haggard looking Bindlplotz covers the others escaped from the water, having developed a slight paranoia where water above his knees is concerned.

If the croc approaches close to one his party members he'll let loose with the musket.

1d20 ⇒ 3 + whatever modifiers.

Annie spots a number of shortswords of various shapes, including one that looks like a kukri and one that looks like a swordbreaker dagger.
There are knives and daggers all over the place, including one guy who had a bandoleer of them.

Bindlplotz sees nothing but water starting to calm as bloodstained wavelets wash gently against his legs.

Exploring this section, you find that a ring of secret passages connects a number of well rooms with ladders leading up to empty buildings that exploring you find are arranged as hidden lookout points for Lotus Dragons overlooking Dead Dog alley and the Taxidermists Guildhall.

Midway along the secret passages are sniper positions overlooking the underground pool. If you look out from there, you see nothing moving there now.

You can go back to either the T section with voices or the saltwater smelling passage.

Perception DC18:

You smell something near one of the well rooms.
Something that reminds you of burned meat... and fear.
A Search check DC14 reveals a secret passage.

Female Human Cleric 6 {HP: 37 /37 AC: 21}

Annie snatched up a random dagger on her way out. Once safely outside, Annie held it out to Ghirrak hilt first. "Try not to lose this one," she quipped. "That was a good shot." She looked around at everyone else, checking for injuries.

Is anyone other than Bindlplotz injured?

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

As the group walked by one of the well rooms, Annie caught a whiff of something and stopped in her tracks, unconciously clutching onto Bryson's arm. "Do you smell that?" she whispered. "That...that smells awful..."

Half Fiend Half Elf Druid 8| HP 94/94| AC 22 (25), FF 19 (22), Touch 14| Fo +10 Re +5 Wi +12; SR 20| Init +3| Percep +23, Darkvision 60', Low-Light Vision| Wildshape 3/3, Destructive Smite 9/9

Perception take 10 = 25
Bryson sniffs a bit. "Yeah, Ah do." He continues to sniff, following the scent much like a dog or other animal might.
Perception take 10 = 25
As he sniffs the well room he points. "Ah think it's coming from here."

Stepping into the secret passage, it leads you a short way to the back of another secret door. The smell is stronger here, and you hear crying and moaning beyond.

When you decide to enter, you see the purpose of this macabre chamber is obvious. A stretching rack dominates the northwestern corner of the room, and an open iron maiden is southeast corner.
A sizzling brazier of coals sputters in the southwest corner, giving the chamber a hellish red cast.

You see a couple of torturers in bloodstained leather aprons with flensing knives and branding irons standing around a prisoner tied to the rack dressed in rags.

Female Human Cleric 6 {HP: 37 /37 AC: 21}

Before we run in can Bindlplotz get a charge off the wand of healing to top him off? If more than one was injured I'd use a channel, otherwise.

Annie gasped in horror at the scene before her and prepared to run forward to save the hapless torture victim.
