Here is a prior warning to the Taldane nobility.

I figured it was the right convention to have a two parter.

Now I need to organise a slot zero for you GMs!

Are we having a raffle this year Dave..if so I have an extra copy of Carrion Hill available thanks to Leisure games making a c***-up on an order and would like to donate it

Rather than a raffle I was planning to have a sealed bid auction. I have a large amount of Pathfinder material from Chris Brecken that I would like to use to raise some money for a charity. I'd certainly be grateful for such a donation.

Hmm..in addition I have a duplicate copy of "Seven Days to the Grave" so I'll put that in as well.Quite happy to contribute to a good cause

It has been suggested that as Chris often played street kids in games that we could make a donation to Centrepoint

Yes!

Hmm. The British Airways cabin crew strikes, whilst ongoing, according to some news reports appear to be losing support amongst staff.
And, less than two months now to PaizoCon UK 2010. :)

:(
Commiserations to any UK gamers who knew anyone involved in the tragic events up in Cumbria earlier today. I'm not in the position (as far as I know) of knowing anyone personally but for what it's worth I shall remember the friends and relatives of those involved in my prayers for the next few nights.

On a slightly more cheerful note, I believe that Dave (Wintergreen) is due to be at GenCon UK this weekend, running some PFS there.

UK Games Expo not GenCon UK but yes Pathfinder Society were well represented. Thank you to Russ, Phil, Jens and Paul for also running games. I ran 4 Pathfinder Society games and I believe another 6 were run (still sorting through the reporting.) An excellent time was had.

UK Games Expo not GenCon UK...

D'oh. That's what I get for posting when my mind is on other things. :)

Anyway, glad it went well.

I'm about to make the final arrangements for PaizoCon UK. At present we are almost fully booked so if you want to come along and haven't booked yet then hurry up and avoid disappointment!

The Exchange

Anybody who has sent me a booking form should have received a confirmation email. If you haven't then please contact me at [email]paizoconuk@hotmail.com[email/]

The Exchange

How many people we looking at? It must have been about thirty last time, I guess.

Including GMs and guests we are looking at 60+ (so the second room was definitely a good call.) Last year we had about 50 in total.

The Exchange

70+ attending so it looks like we have officially sold all tickets.
I am making the final arrangements and will be running a slot zero soon.

Hopefully everything will go well. Any last minute questions then ask me now. :-D

*Roadworks Update*
I have checked the Highways Agency website for the latest motorway news, and there may be roadworks in the Birmingham area on both carriageways of the M6 between junctions 11 and 8 waiting to ambush and harrass unwary travellers to/from this year's PaizoCon UK.
The slip roads at junction 9 on the M6 may also be closed for maintenance.

For those who want to check the details for A-Roads, or for other parts of the motorway network, the Highways Agency currently offers a disruption search feature here: *link*
Don't forget to tick the roadworks box, otherwise naturally they won't bother to tell you about them... ;)

*Rail Update*
On Sunday the 18th of July, the line between Birmingham Snow Hill and Dorridge is scheduled to be closed for engineering works. A replacement bus service is due to operate between Dorridge and Snow Hill calling at all stations between those points.
Trains from Stratford affected will terminate at Spring Road, from where a replacement bus service will also run.
Replacement bus services being somewhat slower (and more circuitous) than trains, anyone planning to travel on Sunday by an affected line should make generous assumptions with regard to how much longer travel may take.

This is a mad, and probably daft, idea that just occurred to me, but here goes: As we have Mr Pett, partial compiler of 100 words GMs ought to know, should we have a definitions contest on some of them, or a 'who can add the best word to the list' for PaizoConUK? Just something for a laugh while people are between games.

Probably too late now, but I thought I'd suggest anyway.

Will that eat into our "Mob Pett and Josh and force them to sign everything they ever produced" time?

Oh geez, Pett's coming?

I ... uh ... have to wash my hair. In another country.

Charles, is that for local trains or does it affect the west coast main line, too?

So far (touch wood) nothing announced for the mainline from Euston to Birmingham New Street via Rugby and Coventry - or at least not in the Midlands area. I don't know if anything's going on further north on the west coast mainline. [North of Stafford that is.]

Moor Street is affected by the bus-services-only situation, but I believe that that's the Chiltern line, not the west coast mainline...

Are you over on Friday? Newcomers get to be in the traditional Friday night ceremony.

Richard, do you want me to bring some first level PC character sheets for your game at the con? I don't mind making a bunch up, especially when I've asked to face the horrors of "Pett's Hollow".

By the way Richard, can we a scroll of dismissal just in case you throw an advanced elder elemental fire against us again?

Cheers

A few dozen replacements per player should do it, non?

Try this link for 85 pre-gens, of most race/class combos, made by Shisumo (though I can't vouch for their accuracy, you'll have to check them yourself).

Wasn't it templated too? :)

And there was something weird with a sub-villain with a vestigial head and a disease which we never found out what it did because everyone kept making their Fortitude saves if I recall correctly.

I noticed that someone in the Euro tour thread asked Josh to bring James Jacobs with him..this would, off course, be a dangerous thing as putting JJ and Charles in the same room could cause the universe to implode in an excess of editorialy nerdish zeal.

No no, an elder fire elemental against first level adventurers - that would be harsh:)...

You can't be that lucky twice though...

Well remembered Charles, it was an adventure for my own setting that alas I still haven't had time to get going...

The second head fluke, hmm, very contagious that one:)

You Sir, are a scholar and a gentleman. Anything to cut those corners is good. I also intend to bring the APG characters from the back of Master of the Fallen Fortress just in case someone fancies something new. If that's okay with Mr Pett?

Cheers

Come one, come all, I'm sure Pett's happy to kill 'em all! ;-)

I'm not sure I've put myself down for the right event now...

Although I'm bringing a summoner so I should be ok, eh Snorter?

Travel info for CrossCountry trains:

Changes to train times PDF

In a nutshell:

There are no track improvement works affecting CrossCountry services on
Saturday until 19.40 and Sunday after 14.20.

Hope this helps some people!

Thanks for the travel info.

You could play both Rich Pett's game and the Year of the Shadow Lodge game.

While I'm on this thread, I thought I'd share my wife's reaction to me saying there were over 70 people attending this years Con:

"Oh, that's low - isn't it normally a few THOUSAND?"

I think she mistook PaizoCon for another convention elsewhere.

The photos from last year helped me then. Needless to say, she now gets it.

And who knows, in a few years time PaizoCon could be as big as those massive conventions , with the international element, the trade floor, free wifi, sponsored tables, chairs, toilets and elevators, freebies, sales girls, company reps buying you beers, and backhanders and...

Hang on, I've Gone Too Far - thinking about conventions my job has sent me to there... sorry.

But you know what I mean, right? Long live PaizoCon! (and I haven't even been to it yet!)

Richard; I think you'll appreciate the fact I used Mr Dory (or at least his picture), for the kidnapper of one of my PCs.

When she snapped out of the domination, she cleaved his head in twain, then realised why he wasn't hindered by his eyes being on different levels. Because he didn't need them...

...and the squid-thing controller crawled out of his shattered brain-pan, climbing up her axe-handle, and expiring, just as its tentacles groped her nauseous face...
