Halt! Stop! DO NOT PASS GO AND DO NOT COLLECT $200! That's a quick slippery slope downhill AWAY from the awesomeness of Paizo selling out :D (... selling out in a GOOD way that is. I don't think they sold out in a way where Seltyiel stops after every fight to drink a Coke and Seoni has a Mountain Dew shoved between her cleavage >_> )

Yeah, yeah, just waiting to get my hot sticky hands on a copy of PFRPG so I can key in all the changes to spells and create a Pathfinder version of the app.
I will probably just re-release the original with a toggle so you can see both PF and 3.5 ogl content.

That would be a cool 3.5/PRPG conversion tool, if you ask me... to know the differences between 3.5/PRPG spells will be the steepest learning curve associated with this switch.
Is PRPG content open for use like 3.5 OGL content though?

It is. The Pathfinder Roleplaying Game is open under the terms of the OGL. However, it is against the terms of the OGL to indicate compatibility with any trademarks. To do that with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, you need the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Compatibility License.

Heh, I'm glad to see the Grog Adventure Path taking off...something to look forward to.
I hear that every module in the Grognard Adventure Path is written for a different edition. You start playing PFRPG, then backwards convert to 3.5, 3.0, 2nd ed, AD&D, and finish with the old rules from the original D&D boxed set.

And the special edition boxed set ships with Viagra and binoculars!

So can someone help me understand something?
I posted a lookup to the Amazon.com Pathfinder RPG sales / chart position on http://www.d20pfsrd.com/sales-tracker but I don't 100% get the results/have a question.
As a disclaimer, I only POSTED the query, I don't pretend to fully understand the numbers lol
My understanding is that the number in the "sales rank" column is the PFRPG rank in ALL books (not just roleplaying games). It is currently showing as #385 as of 9am EST. However, among books in the Roleplaying Games category it is #1 by a long shot, over the 4E PHB2 by a factor of about 3 or 4 to 1 (the PHB2 is currently showing about rank 1300 or so).
Does that mean that that is in number of individual units sold? How does Paizo being sold out impact that? If/when Amazon runs out of inventory will that number drop massively? Will that rank rise greatly this coming Thursday when the book is "officially" released, or should it make no difference?
Also, for anyone in the know, if I had not already ordered a book, could I go on Amazon right now, order one, and get one in a reasonable time? How does Paizo being sold out affect people purchasing via Amazon?
Just random stupid questions lol

*shrug* Depends on what you term "a reasonable time." We pre-ordered a second copy from Amazon, and despite the fact that the release date is still listed as August 19, the "expected delivery" date isn't until September.
Amazon presumably ordered enough to cover its pre-orders at the time plus some extra, but no one knows how much extra or how many additional pre-orders they'e gotten since then. Once they run out of copies, they will not be getting any more until the second printing arrives in November, whereas Paizo has a small amount of additional books coming in later this month that are designated strictly for the hobby industry, i.e., FLGSs.

i ordered from amazon and the expected date is 8/24
When did you place your order? Ours still says September 2 IIRC (know it's early September). I wonder if they might not even have enough for all their pre-orders. Fortunately, our Amazon order is a second copy; our primary copy from Paizo will be here Friday.

Then, my guess is that they'll actually ship out earlier than September. A lot of times, they build a bit of cushion into estimated shipping times for pre-orders that they're not sure they're going to get in stock immediately. (In the past, Paizo books have arrived at Amazon a week or two after "street date.") Then, if they get the books in early, they don't bother going back and changing the estimates on old pre-orders, even while giving out more accurate estimates to new orders. The September estimate probably won't change until the order goes into "shipping soon" status.
At least, I hope so. :O

Dear Lisa, Vic, Erik the Whispering Tyrant, Jason, Josh, James, James, James, Wes, Sean the Godman, Jeff, Cosmo, Alison, Sarah, and everyone at Paizo,
Congratulations on the success of PFRPG, thank you for all of the hard work that you have done and continue to do. Honestly, I expected no less for Pathfinder, and I believe wholeheartedly that you guys will continue to amaze and conquer the tabletop RPG world. Best wishes to you all.

Honestly,
I'm not sure even Amazon knows how their 'estimated shipping date' works. I subscribed to the PRPG on Paizo, and also ordered an extra base book. I also went out to Amazon and pre-ordered (early July) 2 copies as birthday presents for a couple of my players (they had birthdays last week of July and first week of August).Since the order my estimated shipping dates have been :
September 19
August 27
August 19
September 8

Out of curiosity, did you spend at least $25 on some of those multiple orders to take advantage of free shipping? One thing that I notice when I do that for multiple orders, they have a tendency of changing the shipping date a few days later on another outstanding item. Maybe for some of us choosing that option with frequency, Amazon probably schedule shipments for those on set dates so that we may not be constantly taking advantage of the free shipping offer. *shrug* I wonder what the shipping date would have been any differently if I chose to pay for the standard delivery.
