Female Human Inquisitor 4

'Right, so do we have any magic that could jam the doors open?'

m human (taldor) mnk1,ftr3

erp.... thought I had posted....hmmmmmmm.

Soven picks himself up off the floor and dusts himself off. He is unsure as to exactly what just happened and even less sure of what will come next.

Sorry, I am not sure what you mean. Do you mean wizard is correct, both of the corridors must be used at the same time? Split the party. Or
do you mean wizard is correct, we can all go through the axes? What set off the axes on Komana? My going in or komana going out?

Liberty's Edge

Okay, everyone make an intelligence check. There's enough information your characters can figure it out now. :)

The Exchange

Male Human Bard 4

Int check 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Male Tiefling Wizard 5

Intelligence: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

m human (taldor) mnk1,ftr3

Int check 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Female Human Inquisitor 4

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Liberty's Edge

Zareth:

Your intuition proves correct. The opening of both doors triggers the 'freezing' of the traps. The problem remains: the doors are engineered to close on their own and reactivate the trap. It would seem that the easiest way to make it through this part of the challenge would be to find something of substance that can be used to prevent a door from closing all the way.

Male Tiefling Wizard 5

"It seems the blades stop as long as both doors are open. We just need to find something to wedge them open."

Female Human Inquisitor 4

'Okay so, do we have any big objects, or magic that could hold the door?'

Did we try moving the red flame brazier?

m human (taldor) mnk1,ftr3

"The only thing I have that could hold it for even a moment is a trident." Could we possibly jam that into remaining open?

Liberty's Edge

Yes, you already tried to move the brazier. It's firmly attached to the floor.

Liberty's Edge

Apologies to everyone. I've been 'out of it' as a result of real life issues lately. Namely financial ones. We'll advance past this part as Soven forces one of the doors open long enough for someone to get to the other side (a good 80 foot run), and open a door on the other side of the trap corridor (which effectively turns off the trap completely) Sorry about being so devious. Traps are supposed to be fun, not seemingly impossible. There are no more traps in the dungeon. But there is one more puzzle.

A Place To Rest

As the final Pathfinder makes his or her way into the room beyond the axes or blades, the doors slam shut with a hissing noise, apparently sealing themselves forever. An auditory figment channels through the air, the same voice as you heard before. "Blades Passed"

The room you are now in has several cushioned sofas and a sparkling fountain of clear water in the center of the room. A single door leads beyond with a banner over the door reading "Know Thy Way".

Male Tiefling Wizard 5

The only real problem was that we took so damn long doing it. Next time, just give us a more obvious hint after the first month.

"I suppose it's too much to hope for the obvious route to be the right one? Was there a third part to the riddle, by the way?"

Liberty's Edge

It took a month...? :-0 Yeah, if that gets out of hand again, someone tell me it's taking too long. I get pulled into the story too much sometimes.

Hell if I know. It was just humorous exaggeration.

Female Human Inquisitor 4

YAY!!!! I missed this game!

Komana smiles, adjusting her clothing after the frantic rush down the hallway.

'I believe the rest of it went "Long have we to find our way. Emerge from blood victoriously. Go safely among blade and axe. And do not suffer violent facts. Constantly rises enemy again and again. You must protect thy LEGACY."'

She then looks around the room, but doesn't touch anything. Just looks.

Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15

The Exchange

Male Human Bard 4

Catching his breath, huffing slightly behind his ornate mask, Iacobus muses, I am not entirely comfortable with the idea of resting here. It feels like a subtle sort of trap, to encourage us to idleness, while our rivals forge ahead...

Iacobus incants a brief phrase, and scans over the area for signs of magical auras. detect magic

Female Human Inquisitor 4

'Do not suffer voilent facts.' Komana muses aloud.

'I find myself agreeing with you Iacobus.'

Liberty's Edge

Detect Magic:
The fountain gives off a low aura of transmutation, but otherwise the room is void of magic.

The Exchange

Male Human Bard 4

There is some small transmutation magic on the fountain. It could be utterly benign, such as a spell to keep the water fresh and clear, but I think I'll pass on sampling it myself. Iacobus offers.

Well, that and my mask would get in the way. he says, in a self-deprecating tone.

Female Human Inquisitor 4

'What is the mask for, I've been wondering? I am not as familiar with the ways of your faith as I would like to be.' Komana asks idly as she begins to move in among the furniture and goes to inspect the fountain with mundane methods.

Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17

The Exchange

Male Human Bard 4

Just a tradition, since Razmir himself wears one. Iacobus says, examining the exit. Although, as Razmir's clergy remain quite new to the game, and relatively inexperienced compared to the centuries old temples and heirarchies of, say, Sarenrae, some say it serves to obscure exactly how few highly experienced divine clergymen we truly have. he admits.

Perception near door 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

m human (taldor) mnk1,ftr3

Soven steps along with the group. After Iacobus mentions his distrust of resting Soven goes back on guard. Following the advice of the masked man and the divine woman, Soven leaves the the awfully refreshing looking fountain alone.

Pulling out a large waterskin full of cool water with small berries in for taste, Soven offers the party a cool refreshment.

Female Human Inquisitor 4

'Thank you Soven.' Komana smiles.

'I'm loathe to pass this room if its a genuine rest, we may need it. But is the risk too high?'

Female Human Inquisitor 4

Does anyone need healing? If not, we've not really depleted much resources. Let's move on to the corridor.

Komana searches the room thouroughly while the others regroup.

Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15

Liberty's Edge

Nothing seems untoward or of ill effect in the room. The far door is similar to the doors you have already encountered in the passages behind you.

Those standing near the fountain can feel the cool, crisp water splashing in the fountain near them.

Female Human Inquisitor 4

Screw it, here goes.

Deciding to brave the water, Komana dips the tip of her left pinky finger in.

Liberty's Edge

The water is cool to the touch and feels very refreshing after running through a trap-filled corridor and fighting with skeletons in a blood drenched hallway.

Female Human Inquisitor 4

Komana wrinkles her nose, shrugs and then touches the finger she dipped in the fountain against her tongue.

Liberty's Edge

The small amount of water you've transposed to your tongue feels magically charged. It tastes like cool, clear water.

Female Human Inquisitor 4

'It seems harmless if anyone wants to try it, it may be imbued with healing qualities, who needs restoration?' Komana exclaims as she looks to her companions.

The Exchange

Male Human Bard 4

I could benefit from a bit more healing, Iacobus says, lifting his mask and wiping his face, first to dry it, then to dampen it with water from the fountain, before drinking a handful.

Female Human Inquisitor 4

Komana gets the best look she can at Iacobus' face while being subtle about it.

He already had his mask off during the big breakfast scene awhile back, although Zareth and Dird weren't there, so they might be surprised at how casually he takes it off to eat / drink / etc.

He's pretty average looking, could be taldan, chelaxian, varisian, hard to say, although probably a motley mutt of mixed heritage. Black hair, brown eyes, darkish complexion, but pale from lack of light.

Female Human Inquisitor 4

Great. Komana is very interested in the mystery that is Iacobus. It's her nature.

Liberty's Edge

The water restores all lost hitpoints and also provides 1d6+2 temporary hitpoints.

The Exchange

Male Human Bard 4

The waters are not only restorative, but invigorating. I feel bolstered by their qualities. Iacobus remarks, with wonder in his tone.

Such magics would be truly valuable indeed, in Razmir... he thinks to himself, casting detect magic in an attempt to learn more of the workings of the fountain.

Knowledge Arcana 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

His mind skirts around exactly why healing magics are so dear, in the distant homeland he knows only dimly.

Female Human Inquisitor 4

'Well everyone drink up then!' Komana then takes her own advice.

1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

m human (taldor) mnk1,ftr3

Soven smiles at the scene before him and drinks a few handfuls of water from the fountain.
Feeling very invigorated from the magic and cool water, Soven stands ready
and looks expectantly at the bossy woman next to him. ;)

1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Female Human Inquisitor 4

:D

At seeing everyone drinking from the fountain, Komana moves over to the exit corridor and looks down it.

1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18

Liberty's Edge

Detect Magic:
Other than what has already been gleaned about the fountain, the magic aura of the fountain is overwhelmed by the magic from the ioun stone in front of you. It is impossible to pick up anything more aboout the fountain while the stone is active.

The next door opens easily. It leads to a small square room (no larger than 12 feet across), with doors on the opposite three walls exactly in the center of their perspective walls.

Male Tiefling Wizard 5

Zareth looks at the three doors curiously. "So, any preferences, or do we just pick randomly?"

Just in case, casting Detect Magic and looking at each door.

Female Human Inquisitor 4

'Long have we to find our way. Check. Emerge from blood victoriously. Check. Go safely among blade and axe. Check. So we're left with: And do not suffer violent facts. Constantly rises enemy again and again. You must protect thy legacy.'

Do the doors have inscriptions, anything to differentiate them?

Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21

Liberty's Edge

All of the doors appear to be exactly the same, and they do not give off any magic. The only magic you can sense is from the glowing ioun stone floating in front of you.

Female Human Inquisitor 4

Don't suppose the wayfinder is compassing at any particular door?

Liberty's Edge

Umm, okay. Who has the wayfinder? Sorry about the delay. I thought someone else had it. (Iacobus?)

As you open the wayfinder to determine where the spinning needle is pointing, the needle is spinning sporadically while you are within the room. First pointing towards one door, then another one. The wayfinder is being difficult.

Perhaps the wayfinder has some trick that forces it back under control.

Female Human Inquisitor 4

Komana gathers up everones ioun stones and places them into the wayfinder. Does that help?

Liberty's Edge

No, in fact that actually hinders the 'wayfinding' magic of the wayfinder, since it does something entirely different when the ioun stones are imbedded.

Also, deactivating the ioun stones makes your surroundings seem darker, smaller, and filled with strange shadows. There is a sense of impending doom when the ioun stones are not activated.

With his research bonus, Iacobus might be able to tell what's going on with the wayfinder.
