Want!
I think the Sultan is a bit overpriced... But the Emissary isn't bad. From looking at the prices though, unless you don't have the room there is little reason to get a smaller Emissary. (If you have $1500 to spend on a table, and extra hundred to more than double the surface is a steal.)

The Emissary has another thing going for it: It doubles as a dining table, which makes talking the Significant Other into letting it into the house easier. (The pricetag also helps, but even with leaves over it, the Sultan is clearly not a dining table and would need its own room, which effectively increases its price tag even more!)

I did a little "online window shopping" to verify my initial thoughts on the Emissary.
Similarly designed (game tables that double as regular tables [or vice versa, if you prefer]) tables run for around that price and aren't as good for RP/Wargames. (They tend to be round, or octagonal, and dedicated to either Poker, or Chess/Checkers.)
So I'll give my seal of approval (for what that is worth) on the Emissary.

Clearly, I need a second dining room table.

Ehh... Did some more searching.
Turns out the leaves add to the price. If you want to "double duty" the Emissary it will cost you $1800 to $2200, depending on size.
You can do worse for a high-quality, solid walnut table. That said, I'd certainly want to visit the workshop in person and see what I was buying at that price point.

I agree on both counts. But I don't like the advertisement of a "double duty" table that starts at $1500, and then charging extra for the leaves. So I wanted to make sure anyone here considering it knew what they were getting into - as best as I could.
I agree that I would like to view what I was buying as well. But in my case the showroom is on the "wrong" coast (which would add about $1000 in shipping alone - from their own FAQ.
Hmm... I am a gamer, a geek and all, but i find these things ugly.
I absolutely agree that the Sultan is ugly. Add on top of that that I am sure the fold down desks will break within a year with the group I play with...
But to each their own.

Hey all,
I purchased a Sultan at Gencon 2008. I got it right before my birthday in December 08'
I absolutely love it. I did finally get it its own room so people are correct about that. That it would need its own room to be a good game table.
IF I had known they were going to come out with the Emissary I would of waited. BUT that is not to say that I wouldn't eventually get the Sultan as well. Once you have the Sultan it is very SWEET! There is nothing like it.
Here are photos from Gencon 2009

Here are photos of my own Sultan. It is a great table. I love the unadvertised interior space that can hold a lot of stuff. I also like that I can have my Dwarven Forge stuff set up for a crawl and have it covered. WHile the "game keeper" that I have is one large cover, I am getting from Geek Chic the new improved "leaves" that cover the top so I can reveal it piece by piece.

This is a table my son will enjoy....so I can not fault the cost. In five years I bet it will be selling from geek chic for $500 to $1000 more.

Your Link-fu is weak. I have made it strong, though I still cannot access your pictures since I don't use Facebook. :|
